And it won’t be the last, trolling or being a contrarian is in his blood.
I can understand why you think this. If I believed that OOCers were a threat to the community, I would consider being very vocal about it too.
However, your call for censure comes across as a bit out of place. You’re basically saying that people defending a thing that is already happening (=OOCers being on the server) should be silenced for it, even when it is allowed by Blizzard.
But how do you know you aren’t the one being intolerant? Genuine question. Sometimes the attitude against non-roleplayers fits most of the criteria adopted by intolerant groups.
Eh, I’m conflicted on this bit. I believe you are right to a degree. At the same time, I feel like we should also preserve what is good in the RP community rather than let it collapse from within. When I came back from my hiatus I was honestly surprised to see such a change of heart in the forums (and beyond).
Anyway. I appreciate that you are more concerned (in a certain way and for all that matters, considering you have taken a break) with the existence of a positive atmosphere inside the community rather than outside of it. Atleast this is what I gather from your posts. I hope to see you in the Shadowlands - we’ll be needing brave souls against the Jailer!
Non-roleplayers aren’t victims, mon ami.
Like not allowing OOCers destroy the realm.
That is up for certain roleplayers’ actions to determine or not.
Guys, honestly, just ignore it.
No.
Yeah, talking with this guy won’t get you anywhere.
Understood!
Off to bed, g’night folks.
Good night pal.
Night, sleep well!
ah yes a mary contrary
“good morning”
“morning is an artificial construct”
“ok steve”
Source? Source?
Do you have a source for that claim?
It is conveniently misconstrued of course.
But isn’t that what a contrarian would say?
Edit.
Or perhaps telling to someone who offers a different perspective that he’s a contrarian just for doing that hides circular reasoning.
Thin air tbh.
I’m more concerned with myself, to be honest. I’d rather try to enjoy the game than wrestle with the urge to speak against (subjectively) unreasonable behaviour in the roleplaying community, therefore Argent Dawn isn’t the server for me.
You should be. I personally don’t believe your judgement depends on a subjective understanding of the situation alone.
Either way, this seems to be the mindset that keeps you in the better shape and that is what matters. It saddens me to hear that you don’t plan to return on AD, the server is in need of people like you. Then again, what matters is that you find your way to enjoy the game to the fullest.
But feel free to give a glance back on AD from time to time.
What a prime tactic, go at the fact of affiliation because PCU offers RP that one would seek because you’ve got nothing else to talk upon. The only stain on this server is people with attitude like yours pretending to be a victim while painting a community of RPers as anti-whatever irl while those people happily talk with PCU themselves. In the time I was on AD I’ve rarely met people like PCU whom actually cared not just for RP but their people. Going out of their way to make sure you’re ok, rp was fun for everyone and to assure 0 drama. When I get approached for RP or I approach for it I’m not going to look at what you’re part of (unless its extreme. cough Lily) and judge you based on how you conduct yourself. I don’t find it a rocket science to get along with other RPer, all it takes is common sense.
Oh? I wasn’t aware that running around just playing the game and occasionally RP could end up hurting other people’s experiences. I come from other RP realms and we usually just planned and met to do events and everytime I witnessed ongoing / spontaneous RP was a highlight. On the other hand, normal everyday chat about OOC nonsense was also quite normal all the time. I grew up with that - but a full-fledged RP-Realm? That’s actually quite a neat idea.
But do passionate people really suffer when funny or OOC talks in the trade chat occur? They make me laugh sometimes and give me a sense of community. I’ve just never taken the step to completely dive in 100% with every action I do in every second I spent in WoW.
I also remember an IC bartender standing in Southshore in a quite less populated realm. I ignored it at first but instantly felt bad the moment I came back after an hour or so seeing other people walking around never acknowledging him. Of course, I walked up and did a little RP, however, the RP world I was specialized in had nothing to do with Hillsbrad at all! This could have been all easily avoided if I played 100% IC. So where some of you guys come from makes absolutely sense in a way, and I may work on 100% RP, although I know I also enjoy more or less-OOC talking in chat (I never play alts).
Spatial channels should be 100% IC at all times. General, Trade and LocalDefense alas, people need to be able to talk about stuff too.
I think the old RP realm policies are a bit outdated, but are a very big leap in the right direction. It would be nice if Blizzard considered looking back at these rules and implement them with some slight alterations to the non-spatial channel rulings.
Edit: oop, wrong thread. Still an important message though so I’ll let it stick around.
