Except he’s not giving it a genuine try. A genuine try would be to cut the stream out of the equation and give it a proper push in your own time. Instead, he’s basically admitted he’ll try it for a day whilst waiting for 9.1 to see what his own viewers think about it. Basically “Yeah, well, it’s gonna be a sh1t show, but whatever”.
He claims he doesn’t want his chat to make the situation “weird”, yet he’s the one who spent all this time making cringy ‘weeb’ or ‘furry’ comments and low-key bashing whenever FFXIV was made a topic and now acts surprised when the chat-sheep are doing it as well when he even hints at trying something that isn’t WoW.
By comparison, Bellular is doing it properly. He’s considering doing some pre-recorded off-stream clips (at most) but is primarily digging into FFXIV game in his own time in-between whatever else he is doing, and only posting chat-clips about his experience thus far. This means he can experience and enjoy the game (or hate on it) without having an audience leering over his shoulder to distract/comment/spoil it.
Whenever Asmon heads into FFXIV, he’s going to loathe ARR (because it plays into the negative impression he already has as a non-player), will probably have people in-game following him around (like he does in WoW), will have chat baying at him no matter what he thinks, and will quickly leave to go back into 9.1.
That is not a genuine try - but a trend-hop stunt to keep viewers interested/discussing him (for good or bad) while waiting for 9.1.
It may provide FFXIV a little more short-term attention, but a lot of it will largely be negative from a huge audience - a lot of which will sheepishly reflect how he himself has critiqued the game already.
Again, just cut the stream out of the equation and it’s gravy, but that’s not gonna happen.
My post is from the perspective of wanting to give a game a proper try. You can’t do that when streaming (especially in his situation) unless you’re doing a non-interactive stream where you focus on the game more than your audience, which is (shock-horror) not a popular type of stream.
His plan is to just boot it up and stream it one day - possibly unannounced (to an audience that has been built on a different game entirely) and then ramble off into 9.1 after a brief try, which is not a good in terms of FFXIV - a slow-burn story-driven game (played by someone who hates that + has a huge distraction over the shoulder). In short, he’s a specialized streamer, unlike the millions of ‘variety’ streamers out there, with an audience that has been subject to his own less than positive comments on the game who will no doubt act appropriately once he streams it.
In short, it’s going to be a poop-show for all the wrong reasons. Obviously, it’s entirely up to him what he wants to do with his own stream, but he’s going in convinced that he’s not going to like it and making it borderline impossible for that to be countered.
anyway it’s quite obvious , he doesnot want to play FF14 or stream it .
he doesnot give dates , and put it of his title stream , when 9.1 will be out , ff will be irrelevant again
I love, LOVE , how upset a different game makes you. I can almost taste it.
I think he will play it, like it for its merits and dislike for its negatives and go back to wow. You really think 9.1 is going to be the saviour of shadowlands? There isnt alot in it tbh. Alot of people wont be going for KSM. The raid looks fun but thats only a few weeks of content.
Time will tell tho. Regardless, I hope you enjoy it bud.
I also can’t see him staying there. Not entirely sure why, but we’ll see. I tried FF myself for like a month. It’s a decent game, but couldn’t make it
work as a MMO for me. It did work as an RPG though!
We’ll see how it goes for him. I don’t really watch the guy(I really do not have the patience to watch that type of contebt) but saw 2-3 videos from him in recent months for some random reasons. He just seems very attached to WoW, not just because of his streams, but I think he just is one of those players who just can’t let go of WoW. I might be wrong. I can’t let go myself either, but I can go on long breaks, like I seem to be atm!
But yeah, money… Is FF14 really that much better to earn money from though?
And so what? He is playing this game even longer than me i think he plays since 2006 or something. So he needs serious break, makes sense. Also this guy is multimilionaire, This is his bussiness and you play what people watch more it makes sense, it is all about tha dollar. And if final fintasy payed him decent money for playing it and promoting it on top of that, why would he not do that?
Stop worshiping streamers. They make money off this with no effort. Feeding the algorithm and floating he might try the catgirl game is immediate engagement on the fan train, the “wow is dying” crowd and instant free advertising for his channel in this very WoW forum thread because he’s allegedly switching games.
It’s about the monies. It’s all a woefully predictable game of social dynamics and engagement and no contribution is made.
I mean thats pretty standard practice. You think Wow dont try and take away from their competitors?
I also dont understand why you think twitch viewers is the golden standard of success
The reason people are hyped about it is that its apparently been getting progressivley better and its got a new expansion. Alot of people would argue wow has been getting worse.
I agree that people are using FF14 as a way to put down Wow but its because of the decisions they make and then the complete radio silence we get for months.
You are finding very specific examples to forward your own opinion which is just showing you cant actually form a coherent argument. I for example now have over 300 hours on FF14, think its got positives and negatives, and doubt i will be back until 10.0. I am very much reliving the glory days
