Some decent points made throughout this thread, hopefully blizz steps their game up because atm its atrocious.
Iād say the botting/afk situation is the worst iāve seen it across any expansion and theres some big contenders for top spot.

Good post, the bot and afk issue canāt be stated enough. Currently, for Horde ranking, every system in the game encourages players to bot.

Long queues meaning missing individual games matters, missing one queue pop being enough to set you back in honor over a 24h period compared to people who dont via botting.

Solo play only, with no way to team up with friends. Infact, youāll rarely ever meet someone you know ingame. Thats a pretty good thing for botters and afkers.

Most of your honor will come from the AV-wide bonus honor from killing NPCs, since we ended up with 1.12 AV. Bots and AFKs dont even have to participate to make good honor.

Blizzards, letās say, ālassez-faireā attitude towards botters REALLY aids them. Sure, they might collect a 3 month ban in a banwave in a couple months. But theyāll be R14 then already and wont care anymore. This approach doesnt work in the context of ranking. Botters feel entirely safe.
All of these factors individually really make ranking as a whole a wholly unenjoyable experience, and ontop of that make it highly advantageous for botters to compete.
A really simple fix would be adjusting AV bonus honor to be less significant (or removing it altogether outside of winning). It would:

Make WSG a viable alternative to AV grinding, making the BG not completely ignored (yesterday there were 6 WSGs up. SIX. Across how many EU servers? Insane) and shifting the focus when ranking to team play, as it was back in the day.

Cause botters and other non-participants to no logner viably compete in the honor grind. That way, Blizzard can do their once-a-year bans all they want, since botters are now unable to mess up the ranking system short term.
Being able to play AV with friends would simply be a bonus at that point, but highly welcomed.

This thread makes so much sence! High pvp ranks used to have a certain prestige and require more skill than just sheer amount of time invested.
As has already been mentioned here the current system encourages players to use cheats in order to stay on top of the grind and actually discourages players to participate in real pvp combat.
We were all looking forward to the release of battlegrounds but now all I can think of is the release of phase 2, pre-bgs, when the world was on fire and how beautiful it was.

Classic PVP is fine. Itās just made to sold out the game faster than you expect. Because they expect to sell you Shadowlulz. They think you do but you donāt.
Add to the context those games where alliance only get 25 players. Thatās really dull for everyone participating. Happens quite frequently when premades does not get the same AV-pop.

This is part of a broader issue with Blizzard releasing things like Naxx-itemized BRE while withholding the key ring for 4 months. Whoever is responsible for when and in what state things are released is making the worst possible decisions.

Since russians can only get queued with other russians, and itās alliance with very few pugs playing you get absolutely screwed when russian discord premades open up empty games and youāre left with <10 players.

pvp bots suck the joy out of the game for me cause there is no hope for to ever compete with them. Two of my best friends quit the game all together due to this one issue. I donāt care about facing premades or the Drek solo pull as this is equal for all horde, but letting ppl get rank 9+ while at work/sleeping makes me just wanna give up on wow. Iām almost at the breaking point, but I want to give blizzard the chance to correct it as I do love wow in general.

IF you keep an eye out wat blizz have done last years. You notis they focussing more and more on the asia marked (space crap laserbeems, robocopgnomes good example)
I play on earthshaker witch was huge after the last migration, and i notis that almost all know guilds are in need of more people to raidā¦
Think we have to admit the fact, blizz again ruined good potential.
Good post, agree with everything and i donāt have much to add. Bumping for visibility. Hopefully blizzard will realize the game is literally on fire right now. And it is NOT fine.

Not a single word about backdoor horde blantantly abuses in every AV game making DB defence tripple hard.

i Think its funny when private server people who moved with big communities trying to take over servers getting outfarmed by retailers, u know the retailers dont got the Connections and Community builds as Guilds from private servers has, now everyone gets a fair chance. botting and so can be removed for sure, but all this nonsense feel sorry for you attitude is a joke 
if wsg honor should be changed its should be changed so its as good honor as av and not more, so people who are not part of premades have a chance aswell funny this post comes from a guy that was doing cross faction work to try to obtain dominance over ungoro, kicking people from your Guild cause they asking if the loot council is corrupt.
