People here thinking all AH addons are like TSM is beyond laughable…

I use Auctionator, which is nothing like TSM, but an improved UI for the AH. The default UI freaking blows.

TSM should be broken, that is the addon causing all this crap.

Then you hardware ban people who are doing things that are explicitly against the rules? It’s not that complicated.

People who complain about addons like TSM likely have never used it. You think it just spams the search button 300 times a second then automatically buys stuff causing so much lag? It doesn’t.

This happens every expansion and sometimes at the start of seasons too. It’s down to sheer player numbers nothing more :stuck_out_tongue:

“People are using addons to improve their game. All addons should be banned!”

How about you just use the addons yourself. They’re supported for a reason lol. You are limiting yourself, and then expect others to do so too.

they’re grinding the AH to a halt by spam refreshing it using addons. its literally ddosing - it is fully automated and behaves so differently to regular player behaviour that you could probably get 500 players to all use the auction house at once, normally, and it would be a fraction of the requests one player with TSM installed would make even while they’re not even at their desk

it will only get worse from now on, too. as more people realise you can install a bot straight off curseforge to spam refresh the AH and click ‘buyout’ for free money, it will get worse at the start of each patch and each new expansion. if blizzard has any sense they will outright ban the addon the way they did with stuff like AVR back in wotlk.

There’s no need to ban any add-ons because they function the same as the base Auction House and comply with the TOS, with one click per action. The only issue is with the sniper section of TSM and Auctionator, which constantly refreshes the items you’ve selected in the list. This can be resolved by limiting the number of refreshes, and once the game stabilizes, the limit can be removed

i also think OP is on to something here its so annoying if you spend like 1000 years at AH and cant even buy one freaking item since these AH botters keep on scamming and scanning 24/7 and just making the AH a really bad experience atm. pls blizz help the normal players and get rid of this Bullcrap…thx <3

Well if they didn’t know before now you made them aware of how to do it…

Anyways, disable ALL addons for AH scanning. The “Item not found” over and over is demoralizing.

Complicated? No, it´s actually quite simple.

But, is it also illegal to practicaly implement in the EU? Yes., it flies in th face of both the EU-GDPR as well as most country´s local implementations such as the german DSGVO.

Implementing Kernel level anticheat or parsing RAM unused by WoW itself (for ex to detect overlays or other 3rd party applications like C++++tE++++e) would only lead to them being swamped in class action lawsuits, and if they don´t deactivate them afterwards almost inevitably lead to WoW being banned in the EU.

That said, neither metod is in any way necessary to disable the functionality of the vast majority of WoW Addons, which all run within the WoW client itself and would more commonly be referred to as “mods” in the general gaming scene. :beers:

Remove all add ons. Blizz should just recreate the most important add on functions and make them game features. And also blizz should hire a handful of people in each region wich actively are there to look and ban bots in general

the easiest thing imo would be to just limit the scanning of the AH like it is done in classic WoW where you can for example only scan every 15 or so that would already have a huge imapct on the funcionality

Did you really think this through? If it were that simple, don’t you think everyone would be doing it? And just so you know, anyone on a PC could easily get around it.

The addons mostly only give you an advantage by having knowledge. Why shouldn’t goblins have their tools when raiders do?

Overall I’m in the “kill all addons” camp but I’m not in the “kill addons for a specific player group” camp.

That’s not true though no? Isn’t that literally what Valorant/Riot does? People will cry but let em cry.

Because the addons that raiders use don’t impact other players negatively.

The addons that goblins use very much do affect other players negatively in a number of ways. The technical issues now are only part of that.
