Addons that scan the combat log for auras created by buffs should be banned. What is the point to be able to see on the enemy nameplate all the buffs he has, without using detect magic, and without actually needing any effort by the player.
This causes a major grief issue for ppl ganking player with world buffs only, just to piss them off. Definition of griefing. Using such addons should be bannable (if u can’t disable the addon itself)

If they can’t disable it they can’t detect it either. Or am I missing something?

The addons that do that use the blizzard api, for combat log scanning for enemy auras. Why is my auras visible to someone that I am not in combat with?
Because this client we are using is major piece of 
polluted and corrupted by the OG legion client it comes from. Wana talk about mobs pathing?
This viewing of enemy buffs, without using detect magic is just plain wrong.
The sad truth is that game is intentionally left to rot in a pathetic, desperate attempt at pushing players towards retail.
I recently experienced a bug with loot, and game masters replied they are under order from the devs not to help even if they could.
I have been wondering real hard why I’m giving money to this losers company for a long time.

It’s indeed weird to have this in the game. I have it as well and i don’t even know which addon does it. I think it’s the one that should show me how long my dots are lasting on the enemy.
Anyway your definition of griefing is very flawed. Ganking players is basically real content on pvp servers. Just because it pisses you off doesn’t make it a real griefing issue.
It is straight-up griefing. When around me are 3-4 more horde players, that do not have world buffs, and the rogue, targets only me to gank, it is done solely for removing my buffs. No intention to pvp whatsoever. Only to grief my effort for collecting buffs
griefing is pvp, dude. only griefing your own faction is not allowed.
but back to the topic. i fully agree that aura applications should be hidden unless the target is in the same party/faction as u, which the very existance of detect magic seems to suggest is the intended behaviour.
Allowing this kind of function in game allows griefing even in pvp
why should griefing someone from a node or makign them do a corpse run be allowed but not dispeling buffs? u can always play on a pve realm if u dont like pvp interactions. World pvp is not supposed to be remotely fair

Simple, the code is not Vanilla code it’s 7.5 so Blizzard may have removed it from the UI but the code is still in place and the addons use it.
how can i dispel if i cant see them? thats just unfair mate

AddOns in 1.12 were fully capable of tracking the combat log and making guesstimates as to which buffs and debuff a given target might have.
This is nothing new.

yes but there likely were none or they were very far from widespread. they already made major changes to addon messages and changes that affected Spy.
Just because something isn’t new doesn’t mean there is a fundamental issue with it that conflicts with the game design
there is no law in game that makes griefing illegal in game . if you play on pvp server you do so accounting the pros and cons .
Ye but having game mechanics that allow players to grief is another story. Remove the abilities to show enemy auras in combat log if you are not “in combat” with said player
Use detect magic as it was intended,to cover your sheep to be dispelled.
Also i love kill people with world buffs,i can actually hear them scream from their very own country,raging.
