It has already been pretty much established that any system that treats leavers and kicked players differently won’t work. And I hope you’re not suggesting these bans for kicked people as well.
Of course not. Being kicked is a different thing, and since it is not the given player’s decision, they can not be punished for that.
But, as explained repeatedly, if you treat them differently then people who want to leave will just go AFK or start trolling until you kick them. And you know what’s the worst that’s going to happen if you start holding toxic players hostage from leaving the dungeon? They’ll start trying to kick those who they perceive as slowing them down, slow tanks, low DPS etc.
I see that you’re at least as distrustful of people as I am. And you have every reason to be, just like I do.
Still, I believe a progressive ban system should be introduced, and a solution should be created for the problem you mentioned too. I can’t believe that a company with a budget and resources — both financial and human — as large as Blizzard is not able to solve this. It’s the lack of intention, not the lack of knowledge or money.
Very well thought out.
I can see it fixing the majority of early leavers and afk leeches, Obviously you’ll always have some no matter what you do.
I can imagine it would lead to situations where you’d want to let your opponent score some to increase your own reward. Not necessarily a bad thing, it could translate into very interesting high risk, high reward gameplay.
The only downside I initially can see is that it’s a very complicated system for blizzard to program. Well, not really but it’s more complicated than simply assigning a set number based on the sole criteria of whether you won or lost.
I am aware.
But I am not going to stay at something that is a voluntary and - at least intended to be - fun thing when I’m not having a good time, no matter how many other people present insist I should be for…? Why?
There’s no good argument for forcing someone to stay and do something they don’t enjoy.
Because if four people want to complete it, and you’re the only one who doesn’t, you have no right to go against the will of four people and sabotage their gameplay out of selfishness. The will of the majority is sacred, — vox populus, vox dei — and by joining a community — in this case, a dungeon group — voluntarily, you accept this basic human norm.
If the majority doesn’t want to finish, of course, that’s a different situation.
What this fails to account for is that there’s more than one reason for leaving.
Yes, you’re specifically complaining about those who leave after 1st, 2nd, 3rd boss because they didn’t get the item they were hoping for, but they’re not the only type of leaver, and lumping them all together is unfair, and differentiating the punishment impossible, which means the deserter debuff is the best solution, until Blizzard puts all dungeon rewards at the end boss
Lol - nope.
I have every right to go against the majority. If I didn’t Blizzard wouldn’t have given me the option to leave. But sure, I can stay in your dungeon and do absolutely nothing instead… Now which action is more “sabotage of their gameplay”!?
No cause you cant tell if the leave was justified
Sometimes it is, 5 deaths on the same boss but the tank insists we keep trying the same strat that lead to our death 5 times already
Nah, I’m outtie
It’s no coincidence that Blizzard introduced Delves as competitive solo content. This is certainly commendable, and I hope that they’ll develop it further because it’s exactly because of people with an attitude like you, Devinia and Sylvare, that more and more players are turning away from group activities. At least the smart people at the company have finally recognized this and gave an alternative.
A toxic minority has taken over the end-game content, treating it as their very own playground and ruining the experience for everyone else, whom they consider lesser than themselves. That’s what this is about, nothing else. And you have no right to do that. This discussion with you is over, since it makes no sense.
Penalties do not work, people have alts, they will switch to them devs know this, their is only one solution but it takes time, keystone dungeon chest system at end of dungeon, and just add an endorse system that rewards people with better bad luck mechanics other stuff.
Just do it, your community will thank you in the long run, why punish when you can reward people for good behaviour, Overwatch has had endorse system for long time, whatever have they been doing with wow ?
Make the penalty warbound.
That is your right and one you and anyone else who is not having fun should exercise. Not all games are for all people and when you do not have fun it’s time to find another one where you truly do enjoy your time playing.
Something really should be done the penalty is not enough and from what people have said it still disappears after they kill the first boss so nothings changed…
Basically they should make it so you deserter for 30mins X the amount of bosses left…
I have gotten so fed up with dungeon deserters it’s ridiculous and because well don’t really need a healer or some DPS… You can finish dungeons and players can join at the last boss but because you were in combat they couldn’t join so they end up being put on a 15 min dungeon cool down cause they haven’t killed 1 boss…
Although the entertainment I’ve had because if I get gear drop I say I’ll trade after last boss we were in akara and the haste trink dropped from first and I said yeah I’ll trade after last boss… The other 4 people left the group insta and I ended up disenchanting and just linking the shard to them instead… In doing so I was lone in a dungeon but haye you can solo the heroic dungeons if you don’t pull like a mong so I killed the next boss while waiting for a group to join
Why do that when you can resolve the problem by having a better solution in first place, not everything has to be a punishment.
That is just unluck of the draw. Most would say get a group of guildies to do the run but what if you do not have any guildies yet? We cant shut out the public runs just because some never use them.
The amount of people that are leaving in ara-kara after the first boss is now leading me to be surprised if somebody does not leave after teh first boss.
Ive been conditioned to expect a group disband at that point that i am almost reaching instinctively for the escpape key so i can leave the group. That is how bad and frequent the situation is.
Normal and heroic dungeons aren’t “end-game content” though, they’re content that requires a group, sure, but that group can (and usually does) consist of 5 complete strangers. And yes they queued for a dungeon, but that’s not the same as them wanting to complete that dungeon at any cost, and fact of the matter is, the “cost” someone’s willing to pay is lower when faced with strangers than with friends.
I don’t leave dungeons because I think the 4 other people are less than I am, I leave a dungeon because my life is too short to suffer through the dawnbreaker, and I figure they’re better off finding a 5th person willing to participate rather than be dead somewhere.
You sound like a narcissist who thinks they are better than others and whose time is worth mine than mine. Get over youself
Couldn’t agree more, Duraace.
