Yep. Because I read the ToS before and I know Blizzard don’t like theses software that can be used to cheat.
Exactly but what I’m saying is it has nothing to do with him possibly Afking in AV and more to do with him using team viewer. You’d get a less severe ban for Afking in AV.
The 6 month bans are reserved for people using external programs like TW, shadow and players exploiting, hacking and botting.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the ban for AFK in AV is 7 day. The ban for bot is 6 month. Maybe he used TeamVIewer to AFK in AV, we don’t know if he used a bot, but if you use a bot or autoclicker, you don’t need to login remote into your machine to watch it.
So in my opinion, he used TeamViewer to AFK in AV manually, by remotely pressing a button every 4mn, but at the end, he used TeamVIewer, so it’s not a 7 day ban but a 6 month ban because it’s assimilated as a bot.
6m ban is just the right amount of time to get back in and hyped about shadowlands. You would be pretty far behind and need a guild to support you getting the right gear fast to be able to help with aq…maybe even naxx then. But horde has too many players anyway, maybe roll alliance on your new account?!
I would like some confirmation on this - i often use team viewer to log in from work and get things like world buffs before raiding - if Team Viewer is an issue I think we need to know about it as I also know alot who used it at the start to start Q’s before heading home
You could have a ban in your future. It’s remote gaming.
You know those 3’rd party programs ppl been using over the past years and got banned for?
Teamviewer is one of them.
Then I’d recommend you stop right away and then pray Warden hasn’t already flagged you for the next ban-wave.
The real question here is… why is your kids not the most importen thing not to miss out on
Play when you have the time for your self take this as a leaseon that blizz is telling you your kids more importen then AV que
As I posted in another thread, silently flagging accounts for a normal everyday program from a respectable company and then banning those accounts for 6 months is completely unacceptable. The terms of service is a document that stipulates the (exact) boundaries so that no discussion can be had after the fact, but it should follow common sense and should not have any unexpected rules that innocent people can accidentally break while acting in good faith.
Yes, you technically agreed to it, and yes, they are legally allowed to do it. However, it’s definitely not the right thing to do. Posts from several innocent people in this thread make it abundantly clear that this is not okay and that clearly it’s not common knowledge that this type of software is forbidden.
The anti cheat software is opaque and it silently flags people for a ban because cheat software tries to evade detection. They have to work in this way to make it harder to evade detection and to make it harder to create successful hacks.
None of the forbidden pieces of software that break this particular rule are designed to hack in wow and none of them will try to evade detection. This kind of software is not something you combat with an opaque anti cheat system. The wow client should be upfront about it, tell you it’s not allowed to play this game while that software is also running and refuse to run while the forbidden software is running.
It’s completely right, ignorance is no excuse.
The terms of use should be read then.
So you are saying using a bot on another machine and using teamviewer to control the Warcraft remotely doesn’t break the rules?
They keep it vague so that future programs and devices can be covered. If they made a list then not all of the remote software would be on it, like custom written software wouldn’t be.
Of course it breaks the rules, and I’m not saying that at all. You’re misreading my post.
I’m not saying teamviewer or other remote control should be allowed, just that silently banning for them is unacceptable because they are legitimate pieces of software that unsuspecting people can and will use in good faith and also because teamviewer will never try to evade detection. The wow client should detect teamviewer and similar programs, and then refuse to run while they are active. This stops your (entirely hypothetical) remote botting fear.
Broad wording is fine, that’s still exact. I’m not criticizing that it is broad and catch-all, just that it’s silently banned for.
People are being banned for using Teamview alone.
Not for using a bot on another computer through Teamviewer.
Pretty big difference I’d say.
As per the rules. Should Blizzard have given better notice, yes, were they obligated too, no.
Ouch…
You should change your name to Johnnydont now
Just for the record, while I was playing yesterday, I noticed I am running Teamviewer locally. And because I had forgotten of its existence, it has been running on my PC all the time since Classic launch. So, I doubt that Blizzard detects that anyway, maybe only if someone connects to your PC, that’s when it triggers.
I never realised so many people provided IT support to their friends and family to such a degree that they needed to download and install Teamviewer. Either that or they’ve all been victims of fake virus scams in the past and installed it at the scammers request.
The saga, along with the cooking, sounds rather half baked…
Makes sense still doesnt excuse that Activision is not able to state “dont use TeamViewer on your pc or we bann you”
Lol sad that the only action they get is using another ones computer for playing doctor for computers
The trick here is to do some research before playing the game.
There are a ton of exploits, bugs, and scripts which are against the ToS, but Actibizz never does anything against them.
Instead of using Team Viewer and getting banned for 181 days, why not choose a bot instead? You will get all the honor and gold you need; 100% ban-free.
