The most mind-blowing part of all this is that the developers and marketing team apparently didn’t have the foresight to look at how many people had pre-purchased the WoW Forever packs and think, “Hmm, maybe we should allow a 24 or 48-hour pre-download.”
Instead, people were still waiting for the Battle.net launcher to allow the client to download even 30 to 45 minutes after launch (using the CMD lines to get around the launchers official way doesn’t count in this manner as Blizzard never told people to do it that way). Now we’re seeing latency and refresh issues with the website, forums, and launcher, while people are still unable to log in and play.
And despite all of this, we’ve barely heard a peep from the developers or community team explaining what’s happening or what they’re doing to fix it. That’s probably the most frustrating part.
Blizzard is constantly talking about learning from past mistakes, but this doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. It also makes you wonder what November 4th is going to look like. Are people going to be sitting there for hours unable to log in again?
I also feel sorry for anyone who took time off work in the US or elsewhere specifically to play the beta. They could have gone to work, earned some money, come home, and probably logged in by then.
Anyway, we’ll see how long it takes to get everything stabilized and, hopefully, get some proper communication from Blizzard.
Because right now, they’re doing a pretty poor job on both fronts: getting the game running properly and communicating with the community about what’s happening. And honestly, that’s the part that should be embarrassing.
I take some days off for playing this game, but not on launch day. Blizzard will ruin it like always and I don’t want to spend a day off for that. Even the beta is going wrong before people download it. No communication at all and a few days ago at Blizzcon they told us that our input is important. That was a practical joke I guess.
So let me get this straight. You’re coming onto a thread where people are talking and being perfectly normal, and you start having a little bit of a tantrum, a little bit of a whine session, because you’re not getting any attention, and you’re the one telling me to grow up?
I’m sorry to tell you this, but I don’t take directions or orders from you. I never will.
And by the way, people could report your posts for derailing the thread, which is actually against the forum rules. So I think you should be a little more thorough when it comes to jumping into people’s threads and trying to derail the conversation because you’re looking for some extra attention.
Unfortunately for you, you’re not going to get it here. So how about you sit down, be quiet and disappear?
