This is a good change. The population of Classic Servers is much higher than original WoW while the lotus spawns were the same as back then. Even on the big private servers you had basically unlimted Lotus supply from Alterac Valley to combat high pop.

Zalanji: Tell me wich server you cant choose a black lotus spawn point and hope for it to spawn within 75 minutes? There is no monopoly, I play on a big server and I know some people takes many, but there is not one person that takes all. Its the people that tries most that gets most, just how it should be.

Uh no, your grandgrandfather was just like those Rockfeller-style oligarchs who took advantage of a significant slice of a crucial market (like coal or oil or w/e) to alter the price in an unhealthy way. You’re not going to get anybody’s sympathy here, especially in a capitalist world.

Aham, but the fact is speculators can, and in fact do, buy all the Edgemasters handguards they see in the AH son they have almost guaranteed control over the market.
Obviously, speculators are not going to get all the edgemasters. The same way “mafias” dont get all the BL. But that doesnt mean they are not going to raise the price bar to absurd levels.
The point is that there’s a small number of people who get all the spawns since they control them with alts, Eagle Eyes etc., and thus can impose a huge mark up on prices - well beyond what you’d see in a freely competitive market where no seller can “make the price”.

There’s a certain difference between an AH market where anybody could buy and nodes with a limited amount of spawns per hour that are easily campable. In fact, spoiler alert: you can STILL do the same with Black Lotus^^

Never stockpilled black lotus, i’m still sad. Because the prices will drop to 30g making the flask cheap and the raid content easier than it already was because everyone will be using them.
In a game that is so easy that maybe the last raid naxxramas requires a flask, and people whine about not being able to flask. If you wanted to flask for naxx first clears Im sure you could afford 5 black lotuses in the 1+ years before naxx released. Zalanji, everything is the same way, I use eagle eye for Rich thorium,all herbs, not just black lotus. The point is everyone can level a hunter if they want, none is stopping you. Just because some people took the time to do it, and gets an advantage it should be nerfed. I just dont know if some people understand what game they actually play.An mmo that gives you an advantage for actually spending time in it? I thought that was what people wanted from classic in the first place. Nerf edgemasters,Pvp ranking and everything that takes time. Nerf leveling by 50% to get rid of boosters aswell. I wonder how classic will end up.

It’s now several comments later, and I still wasn’t told a good reason for why BL costing an absurd amount of money or people hoarding it is an issue. I get the feeling that the sole reason behind all this whining is that people want flasks, but are too lazy to farm gold to afford them. Blizz shouldn’t change the game so that lazy people could get what they normally couldn’t because of their laziness. That’s not why we got classic.

There is no difference in the outcome. A monopoly is not the control of the source, is the control of the market, be it controlling the source, intermediaries or final distributors. If you go to the AH, there is probably… what? 2 edgemasters handguards on sale? Probably from Banks or reputed hoarders.
Lets say “Mr. Freeman” get a lucky strike and gets a lucky drop from a random mob. Mr Freeman goes to the AH in order to check how much can he get from the drop he just got. he is going to stick to the market price marked by hoarders.

On my realm the prices started spiking when we had an influx of multiboxing botters camping lotus spawns around the clock, allegedly migrating the loti off the server, negatively impacting the entire population of my server.
This was a problem that needed to be dealt with. Personally I would like to see the perpetrator banned from anything powered by electricity for a decade, sadly I’m not a dictator.
While the bots that are not getting banned are still the biggest problem, I do welcome this change. I know flasking isn’t mandatory in raids and most guilds don’t bother with flasks because of how expensive they are (even during speed runs), but I think it’s good that Black Lotus spawns will become more frequent and varied. The spawn points can no longer be monopolised by level 1 alts in ghost form waiting to see when the herb appears. Now more regular players have a chance to come across these herbs. Yes, their prices will go down, but this’ll be offset by the fact that there’ll simply be more of them to go around. The only people who will be salty about this change are the Black Lotus mafiosos who were trying to monopolise the market.
So all in all, cheers to cheaper Black Lotuses and more people getting to flask if that’s what they wanna do to get better parses!
