I don’t necessarily mind a small bit of crossover. But needing to get 2400 to get a helm with overwhelming power and my 2 bis azerite traits, or a max ilvl weapon that otherwise would require me to have already finished raid progression, is a bit much.
If I recall correctly for Shadow it was helm in uldir and chest in Nyalotha that required PvP. 2400 season 1 and 2100 season 3 because they lowered it.
Then on ret I needed 2400 for both my weapon and my trinket in SL.
Can’t remember how hamstrung i was on my priest by not doing higher end PvE content to get my BiS traits in BfA but i do remember the season with the mini raid and it almost feeling like i’d have to do it for the trinket because of how absurdly broken of an additional defensive it was.
It’s always a bit of a pain when you do feel forced to do the other type of content due to how much better those items are compared to their alternatives from the content you prefer doing.
PvP and PvE should have been completely decoupled rather than the mangled mess they have tried to keep alive since they introduced pvp back after vanilla’s launch.
But at the same time as we can see, when pvp isn’t dictated by gear and pvp is not a good way to farm gear at all then pvp have it’s lowest turnout.
This. I don’t think I’ve ever had every item on BIS list, heck I didn’t even get my BiS weapon last season, I still managed to get curve in the raid, strong logs, and every +20 cleared.
Gear is handy, but it doesn’t outrank understanding of mechanics, and doing them properly.
“Dead DPS does 0 DPS” as my raid leader says.
(And yes PVP does have “mechanics” they just involve knowing how to counter players, rather than countering traditional mechanics)
You can play Warcraft 1 to 3 without ever interacting with another player. In other words, just against the CPU or PvE if you will. So the majority of the series can be played without fighting or even encountering other players.
in dramatic fashioh yeah. But that’s because i play mmo for many years and i know if devs allow themselves to do a wrong thing once, they will continue to do so if no one oppose them. If we just ignore it in future there will be more gear parts that we will be forced to get in pve just for pvp purpose…
But I agree with them, PvP and PvE shouldn’t mix, I would argue that M+ and Raiding shouldn’t mix either. Buuuut AFKing trough LFR for 30 mins to get a busted item is not the hill to die on imo. I mean save your bullets for something that matters.
Ok now this is actually a fair point. I didn’t know how crest farming worked in PvP.
Don’t forget that they also have to do m+/raids on heroic and mythic and outdoor content as well, as they need the crests required to max out the piece too.
I look at BiS lists as a reference but if something requires an activity I really don’t want to do (Raiding, in my case), I opt for the next best option obtainable from activities I do enjoy. The reality is, the difference will be in all likelihood marginal, and I’ll see a bigger improvement by continuing to improve my skill at my spec anyway. I also don’t do the highest level of content so I don’t actually need to care about having the absolute best items.
You mean crafting?
You don’t have to do crafting to get crafted items
Hell, blizzard designed a whole system for it, even the crafted item being BoP is no longer a barrier
if you ask me right now the issue with crafting gear is that you can only craft endgame gear
as someone who hasn’t played for 2 seasons, I was hoping I could just craft a quick and dirty blue/green set that was on ilvl par of the current seasons starter gear
