From player perspective yes, but financially it makes sense, since it reduces the costs.
Dependent on how much a server costs /month to how many players potentially quit over the merge.
As for the US Realm topic: Well, them still merging would have caused a PR Drama and i sincerely doubt Blizzard would want that right now
The whole point of the realm connections is to bring bigger pools of players together, offering free realm services off defeats the whole purpose of doing the connections in the first placeâŠ
The EU region has currently 6 different server locales (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian the last of which can only be accessed with a Russian wow client). Within that there are 12 different cross realm pools in the region.
Blizzard hasnât been connecting servers between servers of different locales or cross-realm pools and I imagine if they did that would only come as a last resort when all realms within the pool are connected and further connections become a necessity. The most vulnerable server to this is probably DieAldor, as that is in its own pool separated from the other German RP servers for some reason.
Beyond that its probably just a tricky puzzle of seeing what works best, there will be hiccups no doubt and itâs probably not easy when you consider how many languages exist within the EU, but they cant really exclude servers based on language any further than by keeping the 6 locales separate.
Its more about testing whether the people on the realm are willing to leave the realm and their language behind for the sake of bigger playerpools while having to speak another language. Pools would get âmergedâ more or less both ways.
You mean like they have done/plan to with the portoguese realm Aggra and the English realm Frostmane? Also Grim-Batol.
Exactly, that server exists as Grim Batol now (and every character made on Aggra has a grim Batol ID) and therefore the game sees it as part of the English language locale, they also killed Spanish RP servers in the first server connection programme as well because the population to sustain that probably wasnât there.
Well in Aggras case it is still marked as a Portuguese realm tho
Everything. Itâs political. The taboo subjects that if you were to debate you might end up shunned for absolutley no reason. Everyone knows this. The guys on those US forums did and thatâs why they chose to put the gay community at the front. And sure as hell, Blizz folded.
You thought you could do the same by using you actual concerns such as language barriers to get them to halt the merger, well you found out how well that works. Now you know. The next time you want to get something, act insulted, appalled and sad, thatâs how you get stuff done. Those guys know it, hell to some degree many people here know it and use it.

Well to be honest i am already speaking a different language because none of these languages are my native language, So I adapted. And when blizzard makes these realm mixups a reality we will all have to adapt in terms of language barrier. but even so I still believe the difference will be small since most people will still talk with the people they know and not everyone.

Itâs not total segregation. nobody suggested that. everyone has a choice which server they join and itâs not exactly policed.

as far as I can tell, it has been a solution for a long time now and the people who play on those servers are happy and feel safe and it doesnât seem to have been an issue until now. letâs stop making it an issue please?
if it works for them and itâs not hurting anyone and itâs giving them a place where they can wind down and enjoy their game, then let them have it.
Should do it then. That your character gets placed on grim batol upon login isnt that much important in that case and infact may annoy current and new (checking realms online as a new player. Seeing there is an realm marked as Portuguese) Portuguese players

I mean I would still feels like its the realm where Portuguese people would go, by far it would have the biggest Portuguese speaking population outside of Brazilian servers⊠But it just isnât strictly a Portuguese server and hasnât been in a long time.
Because thatâs literally what youâre saying. If you want to segregrate and you canât stand being around straights at least own it instead of having one standard for them and entirely different standard for you. At least be honest.

No. If you want to defend their right to have a server thatâs exclusive to them which means openly, often with open hate excluding everyone else, thatâs not just segregration. Thatâs having one standard for them and entirely different standard for everyone else. Reeing about hatred and vitiriol while unironically having a sign up on your server that says âNO STRAIGHTS!â is truely a meme.

Specific communities may form on certain servers but no server is exclusive to anyone.

No shortage of hateful people in the thread, and hateful people really do not like the idea of people being able to avoid their hate. Some of them are more overt about it, some of them are trying to pass it off as oppression of straight people or whatever.

You and I both know they call them breeders, straights and a ton of other derogative terms. Thereâs a reason why a lot of homosexuals (myself included) avoid the LBGT community like itâs a mind virus.
No straights allowed is hate. Period. If youâre going to hold one group of people to an entirely different standard and act exlusionary toward them, you are being hateful. They are not allowed to do it to us. We should not do it to them because of the current political climate which lets us abuse the status quo.
