Blizzard cancels a us server connection!

I must admit I have never cared what gender people identify as, their sexual preference, country of origin, religion, politics, beliefs etc etc.

Some will share that information with you and others are very private.

I care if you are a nice person or not.

How can you not care about any of these things? It’s people’s individuality that gives them character and helps them teach you different points of view

I care about their dps/hps/ability to tank. Anything else would only interest me if they are my friends.

Sleeping with someone defines your personality? What type of person am I then? I like Blonde haired women 30-40. Can you read my fortune please? is everyone with the same sexual preferences as me the same?

How does what I do with my private parts effect my friendships exactly?

To be fair, In a practical sense, it’s not really an LGBTQ-only realm.
It’s touted, or marketed as an LGBTQ-friendly server.

What that entails in a practical sense, I wouldn’t know.

edit: too much “in a practical sense” in this post. You get what I mean anyway. I think. cba to rewrite.

How is my friend being trans relevant to us playing together? How is what they voted in their last election relevant to us raiding together? How is their religion relevant to whether or not we will get on? How is the country they come from going to affect what we do in the World of Warcraft?

The fact that they reject any connection with a server which is not LGBTQ is enough to refute that.

But I could, in theory, go there right now and just play, so by definition of who can play there it’s not, right?

I don’t think exclusion is the best way to go on about things, and canceling a merge on that basis seems a bit unnecessary to me, but I think I can understand the worry with the merge too, and can kinda see why that kind of special ruling with unofficial-language servers is a bit trickier.

Well you and I sound like very different people but your friend being trans sounds like they hold a wealth of knowledge that I have no understanding of so I would be very interested to learn from them the election is irrelevant I will concede that and I’m going to highlight without going into great detail the amount of religious tensions there has been throughout time so yeah religon can stop people getting along and I obviously can’t speak for you but having people who can hold an interesting conversation doesn’t affect what I do in wow but it increases my enjoyment of the time I spend doing it

Edit: sorry about the grammar

So LGBTQ community has zero descrimination in it? Every single one of them are perfect angels who haven’t hated on someone? Where there is zero bad apples and it’s ok for them to get a server merge stopped? When nobody else can?

Is it ok to single a few of their bad apples out and judge them all with it? Like what happened to me? I don’t think so.

Every community in the world has the same type of people, Denying this doesn’t help anyone.

You are the epicenter of why we can’t all get along.

I think maybe it’s a language barrier here, when I say I don’t care, it means I don’t discriminate against people because they have different preferences in life to me.

That is not to say that friends don’t discuss things with each other or talk about their lives. Just that whatever preferences a person may have will not bar me from playing with them

Who? Can’t see who you replied to for some reason.

Yeah it’s even nicer when you can actually talk to the people in a common language as opposed to having to use Google translate to find out you’re being insulted repeatedly in Polish

For me community is a dirty word, and community manager is… I won’t say it, because I’ll get banned.

I actually agree with you, I kind of go against what I believe in saying that to be fair, Everyone is their own person. You’re right. You’re just forced to use certain terms that most people use to be understood, That’s the issue.

The whole this group of people do this and that group of people do that, annoys me, Which “community” implies.

Yes, the whole idea behind a “community” is people sharing same interest. So everyone speaking for “the community” is …(imagine the worst swear word)

Realistically it doesn’t. However minority groups will naturally seek those similar to them with many activities they partake in whether it be gaming or sports for example.

In the case of US-Proudmoore so many who are LGBT have gone to that server that its now unofficially been named as the LGBT friendly server over there. While there is nothing wrong with it having that status the news of them no longer having the realm connection performed due to complaints shows that they’re being no more tolerant then they want people to be to them. This in my opinion means that we’re taking a step back on having everyone integrated together.

Just to copy and paste what I said in this reply to Shumensko in this same reply.

Could you imagine if WoW was like Tinder? That would be hilarious.

This mostly doesn’t happen, its just that when it does it reaches traction because of the whole “we’re a minority” complex from the vocal minority.

Who wants to live in a world where they hate the majority of the population over something that means nothing to their interactions?

Its no different, but it gets viewed differently because straight people make up the majority.

Its the same with racist language/rhetoric used against white people in predominately white countries, it gets looked at as not being discriminatory when it really is.

I don’t even like gay people using the f word at each other, I just think its weird using such a dehumanising word to refer to each other as.

Generally the “court of public opinion” gets in the way of really objectively looking at things to see if what is happening is homophobia etc or not.

I got called a homophobe in front of a large crowd of people at an old workplace by another gay person and they tried to make it stick all because we disagreed on a debate totally unrelated to sexuality. The dudes jaw dropped when I pulled my phone out andcalled my boyfriend using speakerphone to talk to him.

Even as a gay man myself I really hate the use this tactic to unjustly make someone else appear as something they’re not and often I’m the only one calling out this behaviour.

Discrimination is discrimination regardless of who the group is being targeted. Some gay people do it to trans people too just like straight people do.

People forget that trans and gay people are vastly different despite both being placed together under the LGBT initialism, just like they’re vastly different to straight people which means they’re likely to face discrimination from a larger group of people. There is a huge difference between someone’s sexuality and someone feeling their gender is not related to the sex they were born as.

While I don’t agree with the discrimination they often face, the trans movement pushes far more boundaries from a societal viewpoint due to their differences to everyone else and the trans debate will not be over any time soon. However, that subject could go on forever on the forums if we approached it.

I’m glad to see someone with a different sexual orientation from me actually read my posts and realised my points. I wish everyone on “both sides” where like you. The world would be a much better place.

I hate descimination no matter who it’s against, for example to the person who blocked me, If you where on my server and 100s of people turned against you, I would fight with you to stop it, I like how you judged my posts and blocked me when you don’t know about my past.

It’s a blatant double standard, it’s not really surprising to see as a lot of Blizzard’s staff are basically hardcore leftists with the type of twitter bio that unironically reads like a tumblr parody. The reality is probably a mix of that bias within the company, that inherently toxic Californian bubble culture they are constantly saturated with and to avoid outrage. These people will scream oppression at the first sign of refusal to comply with their mental gymnastics.
