Must be a new record year for Blizzard, they’re firing again
Ah yes, the famous “let’s fire a few more customer support people, shortly before a new patch comes, while the waiting duration for a bog standard ticket that get’s resolved with a copy / paste answer is already above 24 hours”.
Classic move there.
I mean people were complaining about Blizzard employees not earning enough money, so the only logical thing is to fire those, who don’t earn enough money, right?
This reminds me of a scottish woman yelling “disgusting” at her children. My reaction is roughly the same.
Quite the unfortunate news. I wish all the best to those who lost their jobs because of this.
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
It’s pretty sad how Blizzard turned from one of the most respected gaming companies in the world to an EA level of being hated.
Europeans want fair wages, payed holiday, sick leave and social security they don’t have in the US and elsewhere. I suppose a major reason to close the EU department is employers everywhere will want the same. So just cut it off.
It’s not like they can’t afford to keep it, at least until the pandemic is over. Just American greed.
If someone can speak 8 languages they’re probably quite clever
When was the last blue comment here in eu forums

There is a tracker for blue posts
Edit: u can also often find blue posts in twiluna topics
I can say, what they did: it was localisation and support to other languages. For example, ru-region have their own forum, support, localisation (with voice acting). And other languages too. 400 staff is normal for so many languages.
I am extremely upset about anyone losing their jobs esp at the moment, I’m lucky enough to still be working, but I find the amount of jobs being lost devastating and very upsetting.
I stil feel nothing, no joy, no sadness or whatever , happens to plenty of people everyday and will keep on happening, atleast they had a cool work, the show must go on people are dying when they desperately want to live another years in the hospital, on the streets , so no tears for that.
Bit unfair to compare the two…
Worst time to lose employment.
I really hope they got decent redundancy packages to tide them over til we’re over the worst of this pandemic.
Good. Better be moderated by unbiased American forum mods.
Hi, MVP from French Community here…
Inded, my heart goes out to all those affected. We are very affected because we know the last CM who was still working for all of us.
I’m upset and sad. Please, take care of each others.
My heart and thoughts go out to all affected .
No, but when it comes to localisation an actual native speaker is much better.
For example, Black desert Online is localised in their Dutch office. I’ve played with Dutch players and their English is great but it’s never perfect.
While that’s not an issue in conversation it’s an issue when you localise a game. BDO is riddled with poorly translated stuff. It feels like some of it has been directly translated from Korean so makes little sense when read as English.
One obvious thing is the plural of fish, they always, in every case, use fishes. Really triggers me! (Yes, I am aware in certain cases fishes could be legitimately used.)
I’d be concerned for French and German localisations. Unless Blizz USA use actual German and French people.
I’m waiting to see those GM speaking in broken spanish, it must be hilarious!
Absolutely tragic news and an awful situation for the employees getting laid off. It is happening everywhere unfortunately and not just to big corporations but small businesses.
The optimist in me wants to believe that the decision makers found it really hard to make the call on this closure but given the history of news related to staff treatment I am not that optimistic.
Let’s hope they find work they can be as passionate about quickly.
Great. How can I get the Kerrigan statue they have there?
