I fully stand by what I said: most people will mean “the good ones” when talking about private servers being much better at banning bots and hackers than Blizz. I could be pulling numbers out of my behind if that makes you happy, say 70%, 90%, 99.9%, but that’s not the point.
He is to weak to nitpick my comments. They are factually correct. The phrase “private servers” means “two or more” private servers. And that is a factual correct claim.
Private servers, as in two or more, are doing a better job with bots than Blizzard with their own game on their own modern client. That is just absurd. ESPECIALLY since they invited the team behind on of these successful mega servers without bots (very few) to their headquarter.

You are trolling a thread about bots. Why? What is your goal here right now? The thread is about bots but you make post that is only about personal attacks on me. How is that helpful or constructive in a discussion about bots? A serious issue in this game.
it’s already to late, with the amount of money they are making, they could buy new account and bot level those to 60 within a week, so after a week after they get banned they are up and running again behind a proxy/VPN with different IP’s from like mainland Europe or united states.

Yup, true. Had an argument with this dude a while ago and you just can’t win against him. Even if you give decent arguments he will claim it’s not what he meant and that you’re strawmanning. Best to ignore him.

I know for a fact that this is just untrue, on my server at least. I do agree that I see bots in dungeons often, especially strat, but out in the world most players I meet while leveling alts are just other people leveling alts. How do I know this I hear you ask? Well I’m a very social person so I often stop and chat, invite people for the slightly harder or slower quests. I constantly see people looking for dungeons in all level brackets, from Deadmines to ST and BRD. Soo long story short: I do agree with Strawmansan that the bot situation is bad but I disagree with him on the outdoor statement, at least on the PvE servers. Never seen a flyhack so I can’t comment on that.
How did I do? Was I strawmanning now?
Ok go to Tanaris, Aszhara or Ferals then. I’m not talking about high pop lvl 60 zones or quest hubs obvioulsy. I’m talking about the WORLD and not the narrow path you normally go on.
Do like in EQ2…deposit your gold in the bank when in the city…getting killed in world pvp you loose half the gold you hold on you…then they would be prey and hunted down
Stop assuming. I never said I only visited the high pop level 60 zones. I level a lot of alts and I do spend a lot of time in Tanaris and Feralas, Swamp of sorrows, Searing Gorge, Badlands etc, so I know what I’m talking about. My server is high pop PVE but as I said I can’t speak for other servers. So still untrue on my server. Still wanna argue or call me strawman?
If each botter have multiple buyers there are probably more non-botters than botters that should be banned.
How many private servers are we talking about?
I never played private servers so I’m mostly guessing…
Maybe private servers did not experience the same avalanche of botters as blizz servers do now? If I was a botter I would not be that interested in botting private servers. I don’t think the business case is as strong as on blizz servers (assuming gold selling).
Private servers are free and they don’t have any obligations and can bann people without doing any investigation. Blizzard can’t.
I am not sure it is fair to compare to private servers. Prove me wrong:)
I would bet if they put 5 motivated engineers on the gold selling/buying problem they could do some serious asskicking.

Yes they would surely find a lot of scumbags to ban.
But I am a pessimist and I don’t think the botting problem is possible to fix in the long run. It is an uphill battle. If you have a detectable setup on your system it is probably easy to detect, but bots will just get stealthier and smarter.
I think this is something we have to live with unfortunately.
You could attack their points rather than just saying “It’s a strawman argument”, which you seem to do every other post for the past 3 years.

I can answer this by telling you its completely false that Blizzard is ignoring the bots because we haven’t seen a high spike like this ever in the vanilla community. At best most servers would be considered popular if they had more than 2k players so aside from nostalrius no server had more than 10k players online at once. Classic on the otherhand is easily handling over 1m players if not 2m so ofc were going to see bots more than we did on private servers.
Vanilla retail had 6 million…

I’m half convinced you actually sift through people’s sentences looking for stuff you can argue on, and when they return with a decent argument you just don’t reply.
