First, I’d split many abilities into several ones. A lot of DH spells have this nasty design habit of doing 3 things at once (mobility + damage + leech + CC evade + this + that). This is what makes the specialization extremely forgiving.
Then, I’d give the spec more identity and uniqueness, and I would depart completely from the current design, which is basically just “Fel Windwalker”.
For example, I’d introduce a new mechanic entirely, to play around the theme of Metamorphosis and imbuing yourself with Demon power.
I’d create 2 different Metamorphosis: the current Metamorphosis form to increase your damage output and burst, and another form to tank damage and survive better.
You could make it so that using Fel Rush or other movement abilities generates 1 stack of Metamorphosis duration, up to 30, and you can press one of the 2 Metamorphosis buttons at any point in combat to activate that new form. Each second spent in this form consumes a stack of Metamorphosis.
I dont think lined up is the right word, blizzard announced they had a few speccs that were still in need of changes, but had to be delayed.
Shadow priests design overall was very strong, its problem was simply damage numbers, espically their ST.
Druids damage was fine, the issue was its gameplay as the class just didnt get enough time with testing. So a rework to some level was nessercary.
However this wasnt a huge rework, the classes buttons didnt change nor its rotation. All that changed was the fact druids talents were poorly set out.
Ret paladin however. Is carrying flaws of 8 years that players have been unhappy with, which is likely why theyre talking a actual physical rework of the specc. Its design doesnt work in modern WoW at all.
However,
This was a huge change, removal of borrowed power and implentation of full talent trees were going to have teething issues, i knew in DF a ton of problems concerning them would occur.
I doubt we will see much of their potiental til 11.0. As we saw with the massive power leap that came with them. Classes were miles off the situation where this would fall equal.
I know. I have plenty of these ideas to make DH interesting.
Blizzard went the lazy way with this spec, and they just copy-pasted spells from other classes, such as Monk (Chi Torpedo, Leg Sweep, Incap), Hunter (Disengage), Rogue (Evasion) and Warlock.
Current Havoc is an amalgamation of borrowed concepts, a 2 button rotation and an edgy skin slapped on top to make it look cool.
Well, I really like the way that buttons feel impactful by themselves as that was a thing of the past versions of wow that I’ll never get over losing. That being said having actual class identity would be great. Also they could borrow some things from previous games, bosses, you name it where they have interesting mechanics. (See Illidan/Demon hunter hero in warcraft 3 with their mana draining immolation aura that hit really hard as an example). In any case I really believe that the longer it goes the more demon hunters will become their own thing with class changes as patches and expansions go on.
Also if you’ve seen/played the diablo 4 things, I really loved their mechanic for druids that allowed them to jump between forms for skills. Imagine annihilation/improved blade dance turning you into a demon for its cast(the way that Eye beam works without demonic), I believe that might be a fun thing to explore too
i need to add:
10.0.5:
Adjusted the 3 Tent toys (Gnoll, Market and Dragonscale Expedition tents) to have a 2 minute CD, last 15 minutes and being placed in the direction you are facing.
This is great news because they are even listening to the RP comunity.
At certain points they listen and then there are points they just dont listen, valor cap for example if they just uncap it as lower levels you dont cant find a tank easy, so uncap and they will be streaming in. Open world content there just isnt any the storms are lame tbh, i hope the trading post is something fun but i have my doubts.
People said last week, the problem isn’t temporary stuff but the means to acquire it.
Also, without those, the game gets stale very quickly. Fine for single iteration games lasting a year, not fine for one with this lifespan. Sets can spice up the game by changing how you play your class. There is also power creep (and story). It can be fun to collect upgrades like that.
The question is how important they are, whether they are tied to a next tier of gear, or they are sidegrades like old MC epics, fewer (no) stats but bonus to an ability or somesuch. I believe the main reason we don’t have those anymore is because Blizzard doesn’t want us to mix & match gear, but a constant stat inflation so that balancing is possible and the new is always better and lucrative. Otherwise it’s pretty much like talents.
Their monthly recurring revenue is declining (bleeding) so they have to. If they don’t, it’s a tank and flop. With the microsoft acquisition on the horizon, MRR is top priority as it will likely impact the acquisition price significantly.
I gotta 100% agree with this guy, They know what they talking about. I would also like to add
Titan Training Matrix,s being BoP, and
crafting recipes being behind NOT account wide renown systems,
as well as the abomination which is the current iteration of the professions and crafting orders(which no one really wants if you cant craft max ilvl item)
Nice job blizz i think they f’ed up more than they did with SL.
