Blizzard should end mage boosting

I think blizzard should end mage boosting. Probably not for the reason you think.

Right now mages can make 200g+ an hour boosting. Far more than any other class can dream of. There is a guy right now on twitch aiming to make 100,000 gold in 1 month, and he made over 6000g in 1 day.

The problem with this is it’s pushing up the price of many consumables to pretty high extremes. In my relatively casual raiding guild it’s notable that the only people popping flasks are the 2 tanks who get Gbank assistance, and 3 mages who boost. 1 of them also pops greater fire protection pots on every trash pack between Gedon, and Sulfurion to protect his world buffs from 1 shot potential. While our healers are struggling to afford mana pots.

No class can make half as much gold per hour as the top mages, and most can’t even make a quater. If you stopped mage boosting mages would still be the best if not second best gold farming spec in classic along with hunters. Just they wouldn’t be so insanely far ahead, and i guarantee the price of black lotus, Mana potions, herbs and flasks would drop.

I don’t see any way how this could be implemented without ruining mages. Remove Mage aoe? Make low levels immune to mages?

No offence, but it’s not a very thought out suggestion and it will also never happen anyway.

Just make a Mage alt and boost people yourself.

It’s a shame that only 1% of accounts have unlocked the mage class. It would be pretty neat if there was this option for everyone to make a mage and start boosting if they feel that’s great gold/h and want in on it

I believe the easy solution is to change the Magic absorption talent, the talent that gives you 5% of your total mana back each time you resist a spell. That talent is pretty much required for the most popular boosts SM cath, and Maraudon by providing in essence infinite mana.

The talent is basically useless in raids, and rarely taken in any other builds. It would have no effect on mages dps in raids, or there ability to do there standards gold making aoe farms such as Zul’farak, or DM east etc.

WRONG.

Your mage buddies aren’t driving up the prices of mongoose pots or elemental sharpening stones are they? Prices are going up because the gold supply is increasing. Ironically, mages who boost are probably generating less gold for the total gold supply than mages who farm ZF.

Given that the most expensive part of a mongoose pot is the mountain silversage that is used in a spellpower flasks, i have to imagine they are indeed having an effect.
Inflation is definitely being pushed up by all the gold being created. That doesn’t mean there is not more than 1 factor. If you got rid of mage boosting, there would still be the same amount of herbs being produced etc (probably more due to mages going DM east farm). Without all these mages being loaded they would get a smaller share of total flasks etc, and maybe make it easier for everyone else to get some.

So, you don’t think its fair that there are a few rich mages running around popping flasks. k bye.
Btw, plaguebloom is the most expensive component of mongoose pots.

These mages are not creating gold so it will not affect the inflation.

If one mage can suck up 100k gold it will even lower inflation.

Also boosting doesnt cause inflation

boosting can cause inflation in certain items. Something doesn’t have to create gold to inflate the price of the item. If my guild made a requirement that every raider had to bring a flask to raids, that would raise the price of flasks.

If mages spend there gold in different way than it would otherwise of been spent without boosting, then prices on certain items will change. Also gold has to be spend to effect inflation. If blizzard makes a billion gold on a gm account on my server that has no effect on prices on my server unless said gm starts spending that gold.

I can easy make 140-150g an hour doing tributes. Should this be banned as well? Or mages making a fortune selling portals, food and water? Or tank services where a tank can earn decent money?

New lvling meta puts mages in a good spot, sure. But it’s not against ToS so take gold for boosting services, aka not something blizzard should fix.

As long as there is a high demand for boosting services and people are willing to pay, some players will earn gold on being able to meet that need. This is how everything works.

The only “problem” with boosting services for me is the fact that it kills the mmorpg feeling, far fewer groups doing normal instances now than before.

Easy make it so you dont get xp in group if theres more than lets say 8 levels apart from higest lvl player to the rest. From lvl 50 make it 5

Leveling boosting being so omnipresent is quite an unhealthy situation. But that’s not something Blizz should change. That’s just a sad 2020 reality.

I don’t think that would be sufficient. I was just in a group to stockades on my 33 hunter and the tank was 24. Why should either of us not get xp? We both had non grey quests to complete.

You can make 120g per hours as Warrior with a Healer, doing 4x Dire Maul East Jump Run per hours and getting as average blue, arcane crystal, herbs, green, demonic rune, felcloth, sell items from boss.

Mage will not be nerfed, it’s exactly like it should be in Vanilla.

You are just a self-fish person that is jealous. Up a Mage and go wipe in Maraudon if you think it’s easy.

6000g in 1 day is impossible even if you boost 4 person for 15 gold with a 20mn average run it’s 180g/hours x 24 hours it’s 4320g. No one boost for 24 hours straight it’s impossible to stay focused eat drink toilet find people to boost. Stop lying and goto retail please.

your 140-150g is probably the highest end of tributes, and the next best farm in the game after mage boosting. Still it is half the 300g/hour Datz is currently making. Which is a huge difference.
Mages, and tanks do not make a fraction of that gold offering there services. Most tanks can boost in practice 1 dungeon per hour, 2 if there lucky, and i’ve never seen one charge over 100g per dungeon

What they NEED to end is the ABSURD ZF exploit of solo farming at level 45. And before some twit starts explaining how it’s not an exploit DO NOT EVEN BOTHER! If you argue that it’s not you are:

  1. STUPID.
  2. Clueless.

Last week I made 450g on my hunter in 2hrs.
Clear 1ID and sell buffs before raidtime.
Suck it mages.
