Well, to me it seems like you didn’t read his reply and the linked terms you had agreed to it. You took a risk at exchanging your currency to a virtual credit with no real monetary value and Blizzard changed things as many Turkish players in the past had requested to be able to use the local currency.
Depending on your local laws on gift cards or such you might be able to contact your local consumer protection agency and see if they can assist or advice you further. Or you could just make a ticket and ask the support if there is anything they can do for you instead of making angry forum posts.
Grelier, if you had read the post you would have seen, already contacted support and even linked ticket number on main post for further review; their answer was “go move to another country”, so basically, “you are from Turkey, go to hell”.
It is not about changing perceived value or purchase price of general BattleNet account system. It is about intentionally targeting high inflation rate countries, without prior knowledge and changing the actual amount on these BattleNet accounts.
Furthermore, even though most services are still at same price range with Euro zone, now tokens only load 150TRY (9 Euros) to BattleNet account instead of 13 Euro of Euro zone. Even though I’m playing at same server with those people, have same in-game expenses, same in-game income; now my time spent in-game is worth a lot less then Euro player.
Even more,
Turkish players in the past had requested to be able to use the local currency
not once heard that. But what I did hear was, a lot of Turkish players requested Turkish as a language. If Blizzard was actually trying to help players from Turkey, they would have provided language support. That would actually help increase player base in TR through accessibility.
Last point, why do you think this was done without general blizzard announcement, why do you think their PR email says; “New currencies are available” rather than informing users that, the currency they have been using for last 15 years to play the game will not be supported by Blizzard and they will be forcefully be changed to new currency?
Sorry, I did read your post and saw the part about the ticket but phrased my reply poorly: the forums (players or staff) are unlikely to be able to help you so if the ticket didn’t solve the problem or you received unsatisfactory answer you should reopen the ticket. I do agree that kind of reply would not be acceptable. Or talk to your local consumer protection agency and see if they can help.
And so on. Plenty of players requesting Turkish lira.
They are requesting Turkish Lira store with TR affordable prices, not Turkish Lira store with Western Europe based prices like they implemented. Most companies offer more affordable prices based on where you live, Blizzard doesn’t. They changed the currency without implementing the actual request.
If you actually read whole posts instead of looking at title you can actually see what they are requesting.
Furthermore, if you, again actually search it and read the actual comments below it, there is CS topic specifically saying that, Blizzard will not forcefully change the currency and leave it to us to choose. Yet that was not the case;
Blizzard are not responsible for supporting the Turkish economy by artificially adjusting their prices to the benefit of the Turkish people over the rest of Europe. Basically if you want to play Blizzard games, you need to pay the same price as the rest of us.
God damn it. Is noone reading the posts before talking s**t anymore. READ THE POSTS BEFORE POSTING. I am not supporting blizzard to reduce prices. I am supporting not stealing from customers by changing currencies without prior knowledge or a way to refund (even as gift card).
While at that time there was no info that supported they would exchange it, there wasn’t any that stated they wouldn’t either.
However the terms as cited by Unibox gives Blizzard the right to revise or take action, at any time and not to refund as well. As Grelier said, you may need to consult locally with your consumer protection agency for advice as posting here won’t get you any farther.
When you buy a bike, seller does not say “It will not spontaneously combust.” but you assume that is the case unless specifically told otherwise…
If a corporation is stealing a weeks worth of minimum wage every month from you, there may be a problem there. And that is exactly what they did by not telling players before they forcefully changing their currency.
The Lira/Euro exchange rate has been a lot more stable recently.
What Blizzard should give is the actual exchange rate they used, it would be easy to work out by taking the Euro amount you had and dividing it by the amount of Lira you got. If it’s a good percentage below the rate at the time then you have cause to complain.
I have to agree, I don’t think we are even from the same country, England here.
Anyway you didn’t put the rate you got for the exchange, just the actual one.
Blizzard aren’t racists, that’s usually the last call of a desperate man, they just did what a lot of people from Turkey have requested. It’s not their fault you loaded your account before that with Euros.
I never said that, I never even said anything like that. If you are going to quote me then at least use something I said.
I was saying where I was from, that’s all, you are the one reading things into situations that aren’t there. Besides, guess what? We don’t pay in Euros either. Got you on that one, and guess what else, we are the only ones in the world whose monthly subscription has actually gone up!
You have already been quoted actual posts rather than your pretend reality, showing people who wanted the change.
And you still haven’t said how many Lira you got for your Euros.
You are correct they stole your EUROS - get back in touch & ask for the cash back and keep asking, then if they dont pay your EUROS back go to your EURO bank that you paid the money from & do a cashback & tell them Blizzard stole your EUROS :)) EUROS IS EUROS - They cant steal it just because they feel like it or when Euro/Dollar price goes up & down Like turning my GBP into Dollars & not giving the GBP back !! - BLUE explained all …
Also Euro was 15.66 TRY when they converted, already 17.33 now. That is only two weeks. By the time they make new games available to purchase, so that I can spend that Blizzard Account money on something, it will be worthless.
Edit: corrected value from 16.50 to 15.66 at conversion time. Which is actually even lower to compared to now.
I agree its a pretty bad thing to do my recommendation is go buy as much gametime as u can now or buy tokens so u can convert it back to euro if u need someting from store etc
Yea buy tokens keep the gold and just buy tokens when new games come etc, i doubt they will do more than what they have done so far often the CS for blizzard is not that good…
Nice answer again, by saying what the real rate was not the actual one they used. I even told you how to calculate it but it seems you can’t, or won’t say.
How is this hard for you to understand? They used that day’s rate, which was around 15.66. Today it is 17.49 by the way, like I said before, loses value everyday… Do you really think Blizzard would ever overpay for something?
Also TR is not the only country they stole from:
Actually research before posting or white-knighting Blizzard please dude…
Just to clarify something here, a Token converts to 30days of time, or the Balance value of 30days of time for your region/currency.
So a Token in for example the US would convert to 15 Dollars, in the EU to 13 Euro, in the UK to 10 Pounds and in Turkey to 150 Turkish Lira because those are the values for 30days of time in those currencies.
So while I can understand why you may feel like you are getting less from a Token than a different currency, you are actually paying less for gametime and other services/games now in your local currency than you would be if you were still using Euro and going off the conversion rates.
Reviewing the pricing to align with the newly added currencies was a part of this update.
