Blizzard, we need server upgrades for P2

People, unless the fix happens in BfA then it simply won’t be happening in Classic, the two are linked. Now, does this mean they’re not working to address this? Of course not, as much as people rag on them, they’re not idiots and neither am I white knighting them.

Well it has been years already with no improvements whatsoever. So I struggle to believe that they are truly working on this and not just pretending to be working on it. Keep up the illusion that one day WoW will work like a proper MMO without having any intention of making that a reality.

No MMO is able to function well these days, hence my comment on servers, even Eve is a lag fest. I won’t hold my breathe but I always won’t lose my rag because I understand that the issues are rather complex.

Loads of mmos are functioning perfectly, just have to lool at pservers to see its entiterly possible to have massive battled with 0 lag

Yeah, because sharding made it impossible to happen.

How sure you are about that? It took them 4 years to realize Titanforge is bad for the game. I don’t think current Blizzard are the smartest cookie.

Eve is doing battles literally two orders of magnitude larger that WoW is. Sure it is a lag hell but the threshold seems to be completely different. Now of course they might be having other server problems that are not directly related to player numbers in a single area. WoW though is specifically completely unable to handle more than two dozen players in PvP.

People lots interest in the minigame called wpvp way before sharding.

I agree, flying mounts killed organic WPvP, but sharding made impossible for large scale PvP to happen. Once again, Blizzard are not the smartest people when it comes to that.

There was no flying when they put the towers in EPL and no one cared for them either.

Wpvp is a minigame inside another minigame called pvp.

What about wiping guilds in brm or world bosses?

still a minigame for cata-benched

Then explain to me how Nostalrius, a FREE private server hosted by volunteers out of love for the game, was able to do it? Nostalrius literally ran 10 times better in large scale PvP battles.

Yes, it does it but I’m saying the irony is that tech has moved on, the ability for massive battles has ironically decreased (personally have this down the over saturation of cloud systems) and as someone who plays Eve, it has become an incredible lag fest when many are there. Large servers seem to struggle have a multitude of data being loaded into the same zone.

Custom coding with a client built to handle the original numbers, specifically tuned to the server. Blizz could have done this, they wanted layers, battle.net integration and fluidity with their pre-existing services (such as the report system), but, Classic would have been a 2022/3 release as it would be recreating a client.

How is raiding not also a minigame

Yeah that is true. Technology definitely hasn’t improved MMO server performance, which does sound ridiculous. It makes sense if you look at it from a business perspective. Cloud solutions are probably much cheaper and so companies prefer them despite the poor performance.

raiding is the game, just the fact that this game back in time lauched without a pvp sistem makes clear what is the game and what are the trivial activities

Thats retail mindset

Blizz just wanted the easiest road to fast cash. I don’t get why they didn’t just take the Nost code and host that. It would’ve been even easier and we’d have a halfway decent experience when 80 people start going at it. I understand cloud hosting, but the existence of that should not stand in the way of a decent Classic WoW experience, if Blizzard wanted to, they easily could.

No, technology hasn’t moved on, companies that use cheaper one have.
