Can we meme Lor’themar into prominence?
Actually, maybe ignominy is preferable to having your characterization destroyed.

Implying they aren’t already planning on him being reduced to token leadership couple. Lor’Thalyssra will be a curse.
The monkey’s paw really curled when I wished for Nightborne and Blood Elves to join up at the start of Legion.

And you just know that the whole thing with Tyrande becoming the Night Warrior was because of the whole feedback they got from the War of Thorns pre-patch event where she had what basically amounted to a cameo role at the very end.
Take this to its logical conclusion and just start doing surveys every few months where you ask people directly “hey is this character a good meme?”
Is this the end goal of every horde leader? We got Baine and Mayla, Lor’themar and Thalyssra, Rokhan and Talanji.
Is the horde going to reach its logical conclusion of Gazlowe x Meerah and Geya’rah x whoever the next prominent orc who’s going to die is?
The main story of Val’sharah also felt like it was the writers trying to rectify the backlash after “Hush Tyrande”.
Maybe if they’d actually read the stupid book it came from and gave the voice actors proper direction there wouldn’t have been a backlash.

Any sort of semi consistency and vision for what Warcraft has faded and died when Metzen left and stepped down from being the lore man as he essentially drove the art style and story along with Samwise who were all D&D nerds who understood that Tolkienesque fantasy.
These days we just got people trying to justify weird inconsistencies and breaking setting rules by claiming they’re different forms of magic or alternative realities and oh actually this can be explain by theqfwgfergergergerqwqewesdfdrfkjdfkdfkdskawkqkqwk
They’re just going home, don’t mind them.
“Hey blizzard was this the biggest bad villain we face?”
“Hey blizzard the X force is actually good righ-”
“What’s going on then-”
I am fine with the idea that everymen can’t just wander into the Shadowlands via the portal room - but nobody on the lore team has even bothered to provide an in character reason for why that is.
“but think of the fiction there as they would’ve had to gone to some trouble to make that happen.” This is vaguer than vague world building out of soup. It’s like they don’t care about the world having any coherency at all.
They have to pay the Ebon Toll.
It sounds ominous but it’s literally just 5g to go through and 5g to get back.
Hope you don’t only have the funds to go one way, Ol’ Emma…
To be fair, Ol’ Emma is so old, she might aswell stay in the Shadowlands.
9.2 raid boss leaked???!!??
Ol’Emma is the one who created the First Ones.
Ol’ Emma. The Great Old One, Em’ma in disguise because everything exotic in this damn setting gets an apostrophe.
Except Yogg-saron. He special.
edit: also the true god of death
Blizzard furiously writing down ideas for patch 9.3
There’s a multi-verse timeline theory IRL about our universe and that we live in one of the worst timelines. Can you imagine living in the timeline where Blizzard is communicating to their community, the writers have an interest in providing a good story (and know how to write), they didn’t focus on 999 eyebrows for humans and they aren’t overtaken by greed?
One can dream.
Honest answer: “Sorry, we have to come up with that halfway into the expansion”
Honest answer: “No clue, we just make stuff up as it goes”
Honest answer: “We don’t know either”
Mages: can create portals through time, reality, universes and space.
Any civilian scrub in Stormwind: “I surely will not go through the hassle to ask a random mage in purple robes, that would be a social situation and I am too awkward for that. We have the Mage Quarters, which is an entire district full of them, but going there? I am too lazy”.
Honestly I think WoW is at this point worthy of a world record. One of the most popular games since decades with a story so incoherent+inconsistent and with so many plotholes that Outland probably has less holes in the planet.
God, I sure love that this NPC being there was probably just some funny meme idea of one of the developers. And then the writers thought to tell this very specific random detail. It feels like there’s not only a complete disconnect between the community and the developers, but they have internally zero communication as well. Can’t communicate to another outside community when you can’t even have a good connection around your peers, right?
The meme about the writers’ bunker seems less like a joke and more like reality with each patch.
Yeah i’m not sure how Danuser still has his job as lead narrative designer or how he even stumbled into that position in the first place. He seems to not really have anything of note in his past to warrant putting him in the lead narrative designer seat of one of the biggest intellectual properties in the gaming industry. I mean, his most noteworthy credits seem to be having worked on some botched MMOs that ended up getting flushed after being stuck in development hell for ages(Everquest Next, Kingdoms of Amalur MMO).
Literally the moment he took over the reins as lead narrative designer the story has been spiraling down the drain in a borderline comedic fashion. It’s gone straight down to stupid town. And sure, it’s always been pretty silly but atleast it still kinda felt like Warcraft before Danuser took over. WoW’s lore and narrative under Danuser unironically reads like some godawful fanfiction.
The characters we’ve all come to know and love are unrecognizable and the whole cosmic war arc is some of the dumbest crap i’ve ever witnessed. It’s painfully apparent that he doesn’t actually know how to write interesting characters and plot lines and just fell back on the cosmic chart and essentially just started smashing the cosmic forces together like action figures.
It’s honestly embarrassing and i hope he moves on before damaging the Warcraft universe further. He may already have done irreparable damage but perhaps it can be salvaged by someone who actually understands Warcraft and doesn’t think GoT season 8 aka “she kinda forgot about the iron fleet” and subverting expectations for the sake of it is “brilliant” writing.
