BMAH mounts for free

You know, that’s fair, he did say 6 weeks, someone else probably said 6 months.
The point still stands though

Someone else used 6 entire years in their argument x)

I do personally think it’d upset me if I bought something for a million gold and then six weeks later its announced that the mount is being re-released. A mil is pocket change to some but not to me and 6 weeks is indeed an awfully short time to enjoy something worth a mil.

Quite possibly, I didn’t bother re-reading the entire thread, and apparently the 6 months thing got stuck in my head as OP’s

Oh no, my fictional currency!

That you spent real life time farming. Is your own time worth so little to you?

First world problems.

Oh no i am not hostile. If it appears like that in my comment, i apologize!
If he didn’t play back then he didn’t. That’s how things work. I just can’t take someone who makes a post like this and then does the “it actually happened to my friend” seriously.

It’s entitlement because you feel like you put money into something that is exclusive then that thing is given away for essentially free (again) and now you’re angry and feel bad that its free (again).

BUT i saw a wowhead dev say they sent Blizz a ticket about a similar situation of buying a mount on the BMAH that later showed up as a twitch drop and he got his gold back. You/ your friend should definitely make a request for that!

Well, I spend it playing WoW. So do you, since you post here!

If you find farming gold fun in the game, then it’s time well spent. If you however see it as a chore and as a means to an end its not time well spent.

I think the main issue here is the short time period between them buying the mount for a lot of gold and the announcement of it being re-released. I honestly do not think the OP would have kicked up a fuss if there was a year in between but we are talking about 6 weeks here.

I’d be a little upset then, too. Even more so if it happened to me in real life that I bought a new graphics card for €300 and 6 weeks later the price tanks to nearly nothing. It does happen, but that doesn’t make it any less upsetting!

Just like in real life. You buy something and next week people get a huge discount or whatever on it and you bite your bum :dracthyr_shrug:
Stop being so avaricious…

ROFL comparing a event mount and ugly mount generic dragon mount
with a brutosaurus for 5 mil xD
logic

I agree bring it back for 5 mil so people can farm gold for it over time
but that comparing was like OMG

The black market is one of the tool in use to dump huge amount of gold for people who can.

I don’t see a problem here, it’s only bad timing for your friend to see the news few weeks after buying it. But I guess the adrenaline rush he had when buying it was worth it anyway.

The problem is that people blame Blizz and not their own decision on the purchases. BMAH has always been something you can buy anything from the game that pops up. I don’t think there’s someone that has a job to schedule BMAH inventory. Seems to be completely random. And like i told OP, he/his friend can submit a ticket and most likely get a refund.

Comparing an ingame currency to real world money doesn’t really work. Even though you can buy gold with Tokens, that isn’t the only way to get gold in the game.

They are doing a horrible job with FOMO.
Its okay to have hard to grind or iconic things FOMO but only a few, they are adding ALOT and then they rando appear as twitch drops or trading post random its so stupid and seems so desperate to hook players that collect for another sub, every new event/patch anything has fomo now, but the kind of fomo that you never know when or if it comes back up

But the mechanic in the brain is the same for both situations, avarice.

You spend RL time to get RL currency.
You spend RL time to get in game currency either by grinding or by using the RL currency you spent RL time on getting.
I conquer it can very well be compared as in both cases you are giving the most precious thing you have. Your time.

Also I was not even comparing currencies, I was comparing the general point of buying something that soon after goes on sale. Both scenarios are identical.

It feels like a lot of the anger directed towards the BMAH in a lot of ways is because there is a demographic of people that aren’t really rich enough to afford buying stuff off it doing it anyway.

‘‘I spent like 3 million gold on X mount and now they’re giving it away for free! That was all my gold’’

Well yeah, if you’re just good for 3 mil gold the BMAH is not intended for you. There are people who open up a second account to keep goldcapping toons because they already filled out their entire account, for them, having a 3,5,9 mil gold mount go free literally does not matter because gold cap doesn’t matter to them. Those are the intended shoppers of the BMAH

I’d be happy for them to do that if they returned it to the original challenge. Challenge modes in MOP/WOD would be fairly trivial for anyone accustomed to M+, it was a new concept back then but hardly special now.

Mage Tower as it launched prior to Tomb of Sargeras, with comparable difficulty relative to the available gear would only be completed by like 0.1% of players, and everyone else would cry on the forums about how unfair and broken it is. Or do you just want faceroll Magetower (how it is today by comparison) with the original rewards?

How do you know that? Where does it say that?
