Wait, you think profession bonuses are a “layer of complexity” yet you tell others they find Tetris challenging? And beside your lack of self awareness, i like that you top it off with the “it’s an RPG” argument.
Yes. They add. Engineering belt enchants, herbalism haste ability, enchanters perks, blacksmithing belt buckles, they all add to the flavour of the game and add another layer to think about when you make a class.
Obviously since you requested their removal, all of this is too much for your little self.
There there, not all of you have to understand these things unless unless we point them out. It’s okay.
Ok so you don’t understand what complexity is or what purpose it serves, but just like the dumbest people on the planet you’re also really smug about your ignorance.
I requested their removal because professions have their own role in the game and giving it combat benefit that’s also spec dependent undermines that role. Also if they decide to give +200 primary stat for having 1000 pets achiev this doesn’t mean it’s a good thing cause it adds another layer to “think” about, or in your case, look it up a website.
I used to carry enchants and gems with me in case a piece with socket I wanted would drop while raiding.
What a pile of baloney. Any piece of gear you get is 1/14th of your total stats = 7.14% of the total contribution, granted some slots weigh heavier than others. If the piece of gear you received was only going to be equipable after reforge then its total improvement to your overall performance would be measured at way less than 1% and even if it was better than that, port> trash>reforge>summon.
In our guild people would just pop out while trash was being cleared or during a break. Worst case after raid.
how hard is it to gear up or how hard are the fights?
would assume the scaling would have messed up the achievement
Prismatic socket is not the same as old colored sockets
It kind of felt cluttered though… when you knew that if you had a particular colour socket, you’d stuff it with an int/haste gem, or an agi/crit gem… There was no customisation here, and there were no filling in the gaps, because WoW doesn’t particularly encourage you to balance your stats in any specfic ratio.
But I do wish there were more sockets in general. What happened to the days of 2-3 in every epic piece? My jewelcrafting alt has never felt less relevant

There’s a reason for that.

Not sure what your point is, cause you definitely missed mine. And no idea which part you think it’s baloney, but that’s what happened. Yes porting out and getting summoned back was an option, although doing this every time, after every single boss was kinda irritating and maybe would be better if there wasn’t a need to do that. Waiting until after the raid or a break would be the civilized thing to do.
Yes, I remember they said that. However I am not sure if it was Ion or GC.
Anyways, this is what happens when you give clowns too much authority, they turn everything to circus.
And now getting RNG socket surely solved the problem?
like rmeoving reforging when they had just removed the statts (exptertise and hit) that made it any kind of issue at all. SO they got rid of problem and they got rid of system anyway
The reason Ion gave - and I’m not making this up! - was that it delayed raids, when people got a drop they didn’t want to use immediately without gems and enchants, and had to teleport out and be resummoned.
We should definetly give Ion more credit for being able to come up with nonsense excuse on the go while interwieved. That is skill.
And that was true, getting a piece of gear back in MoP was unusable until after the raid where you had to gem, enchant, reforge and upgrade it.
It’s not different that what we have now:
“Nice! a 475 legs! oh wait can’t use them because i have to cleanse this crappy avoidance corruption! hey lock can you make a coffin and summon me back?”
A problem for sockets but totally fine for corruption?

Don’t you have to cleanse the corruption and log off for 4 weeks while you wait for MOTHER to stock the correct corruption?
I remember when 1 epic gem cost was so high that person had to farm a little to afford that and other slots, now (specifically yesterday) i went ah, just bought 2 weapon enchants, ring enchants, gems from AH for gold from 3 or 4 world quests. I don’t know why these people even bother to farm if it’s better to run old raids to get even more gold than selling epic gems for 70 gold.
Tone down the snark, you’re trying to sell an opinion piece like a peer reviewed fact
Some professions have always given you combat capabilities, this is fine and adds a little flavour, it also adds more to your character build, even if that’s just one thing extra, that means it is complexer then without it by textbook definition, because it is all that was before, plus that extra profession trait.
Your example for stats per achi gained is also silly, it will never work this way so why bother unless it’s specifically to put up a strawman to argue against?
The current problem with professions isn’t combat utiliy
Engineering has had combat utility since Vanilla and is still a neat addition to have
Enchanting and Herbalism will always be usefull
Jewelcrafting has become more useful with more guaranteed sockets
The gear crafting Trinity of professions all however burn expulsom on random stat configurations, no one I know enjoys this system, it’s also so expensive that by the time you can craft it you’ll probably have something better
Imo it’s those 3 ever popular gear crafting professions specifically which are suffering only because of the mat cost, the lackluster power of the gear as well as the RNG stat allocation, professions problems atm are NOT combat utility
If you were happy to go into a raid with the gear on your back, why would you not wait to upgrade
Came back to this game from TBC to find that they removed baseline sockets and made it RNG. Why cant we just have the option to gem
Our gear as we like so we don’t have to complain about getting the wrong secondaries all the time.
welcome to RNG for Azeroth

That’s why most slots are no longer enchantable either.
This showed me clearly where this team’s priorities were.
i never knew this, but i am not surprised.
honest question, is Ion being in charge of WoW one of the worst things to happen to the game? he has made SOOOOOO many bad decisions that the game is a shadow of its former glory.
i still find it hard to believe he actually raided in TBC with the way he looks at the game now, and what he has turned it into.

It’s the same issue rep items have. In the past you hit exalted you got good gear from the vendor for a while, nowadays by the time you hit exalted with a faction the gear they sell is 20 ilvl below what you have.
Considering how quickly top guild clear the content anyway, does it still make sense timegating profession gear?
