They were pretty common topics discussed by playerbase since garrisons were introduced of what aspect they disliked of it and whatever all else people rised related it, this has similarities with it, so people can point it out if they think as so.
Reading your reply I like garrisons more aswell now compared to this neighbourhood. Still, I would rather have choise related the location or the looks of the building in more ways than two options hinted to be human or orcish themes. Related garrisons otherwise, they did receive widely negative feedback mostly, glad if you enjoy yours but on the matter at hand or in bigger picture in general its not really important or matter much, seems more as nitpicking if wish to debate the matter further.
Hardly not relevant to the topic anyway what some single person enjoy or not if the discussion were that garrison received negative feedback mostly from the community and this were found to have similarities with it what people have pointed to dislike in the past.
I wasn’t keen on Garrisons at first, but then actually enjoyed mine. They were kinda soulless though so I am hoping the ability to ‘decorate’ and personalise these spaces, it will have more character. What I did like about Garrisons were the game characters that inhabited the place and walked about. I hope Hunters can have a stable area with some of your pets milling about
My concern regarding locations and not using instances, was all the prime real-estate would be taken! I briefly dabbled in a Korean MMORPG and it was carnage as people jostled to put their houses where they wanted. Your ‘plot’ could also be taken over if you failed to maintain it properly - there were daily quests to maintain a garden etc (it was fantasy so not ‘normal’ neighbourhood by any means) and clear off pests which could invade your neighbours garden if left unchecked.
All in all, I am on the fence until I see how Blizz manages this tricky function. I would like to have my own space, but I also like to see players too. I do wonder how it may affect general gathering areas such as the cities - I guess they will still be busy due to the quests and NPC’s and facilities etc there.
It’s sad that there are so many cities/areas abandoned these days; I’ve played since 2005 and have fallen in and out of love with the game ever since. But I still keep my sub going and whilst there have been life events that take me away, I always end up coming home
My partner and I have our own Guild which all our characters are members of. I guess we have been warbanding for a long while before it came out
It would be interesting if, within a private neighbourhood, each character could have their own house - that would be awesome. Would be sad to just have a single building shared by everyone therefore not really looking like a neighbourhood.
I want a damn Cul-de-sac, with a campfire rather like the character screen on login with your chars gathered there.
Yeah I know this is wishful thinking, but I can dream
I believe that would be easily doable with a system like private neighbourhood, you get to choose who to invite and have with you - or you could just leave the other plots empty.
OR - definitely the choice I’d choose - you get the choice to build ALL of the plots and inhabit just once a time, switching whenever you feel like to, and leave the others empty or fill them with NPCs! I’d definitely invite a friend or two if they wanted to, and then build my own neighbourhood. I like the social part of it don’t get me wrong, but man how fun would it be if it was possible to do something like this. Not only do I get to shape my house, but I have agency over the whole town. I would only play this mode!
Yeah the empty plots aspect worries me with that. I am hoping if they get enough feedback they’ll actually give us solo plots for those of us that don’t want to be surrrounded by others.
I don’t like the social part at all. I want my own retreat. Like I always envisaged my champion having their own place to retreat to, after all the wars, battles, group stuff they take part in, they want a haven of their own to retreat to. Having full creative control (to me) means not having to deal with a bunch of other people who have their own creative ideas.
If you think about it is something similar to how Sims work, so I think that if there is will to use said system in a simlish way, it should be possible to leave other plots empty. It depends on how much Blizz wants to push the social aspect I guess, but I think it would be better if players could choose if to be social or not.
FFXIV has housing people love it , GW2 last exp added housing ppl love it , even runescape has housing ppl love it , every MMO on the market has housing which none of them are like garrisons .
Blizz never called garrisons housing and this is not garrisons at all deal with it or get some intellect to understand whats the different between Housing and Prebuilt slots that you insert a building into which all had the same and a Mission table in the middle .
Not my taste, but all kinds of areas should be supported.
Let’s hope Blizzard listens and maybe adds a couple of small solo areas inspired by very different places. Spreading solo housing people out, doesn’t matter because they weren’t going to be social anyway.
Then neighbourhoods can be their big social spaces and solo areas can be for all the people who just want a home for themselves and have their character’s fantasy/background be part of it.
Why are you replying me this or telling me to “get intellect”. Its said several times on the thread that this had similarities with garrisons and people are right to say so. In any case dont suspect much discussion from me with you or with any people in general who begin the conversation with insulting the other person on personal level.
Do you self understand the difference between something having similarities with something or being it, I suggest look deeper in what people have actually spoken before insult others further in vain or trying to nitpick them for matters not relevant on bigger scale with the matter of discussion. Even the quote you made of me says “similar to” now if you dont know what that means before you insult someone or try make it anything else I find it ironic cosidering what you just tried insult me with. Respect towards other people costs nothing and you get more constructive conversations by not starting it with insult towards others.
If the houses were instanced, I could even live with a public neighbourhood, I would just lock the door on myself and be done with it. But based on the current description, I’m not sure if we will get any sort of privacy in our homes, apart from the private neighbourhoods.
Besides, it’s just a matter of time before we’ll see other themed neighbourhoods.
As they said: This is not a one-and-done. This is an ongoing, evolving new system.
