Building in Azeroth: A First Look at Housing

Just as someone at Blizzard is obsessed with “yarr!!” someone else at Blizzard is obsessed with “sharp pointy spikes!”

That is exactly what i suggested on my player housing idea! blizzard please send pay check to me you will find my details on my bnet thank you xD

Very interesting! Do we think there would eventually be like solo houses in capital cities? Whilst neighbourhoods are very cool, I would love a house in stormwind that I could just walk out of into the busy streets. Being an alliance hero is really fun to me, so having my own house (instead of the one I pretend is mine) would be fun  But overall this all looks great! Ty blizz

I remembered now it were of btag posting, you were asking me how it would lessen moderators work. I said that people have said it on the thread few times and that i dont wish to repeat them, it escalated on me put ignore cause I cant continue repeat things which were already discussed in the thread, it were going in circles.

Were good in my book anyways. No worries, Im just trying minimize actions on this forum with the ignore function instead of engage to arguments but sometime that happens too, were only human, and elves and taurens and goblins… even gnomes :joy:

I might have not properly read some things, so if i say or ask something that might or might be in the article, apologies.

But I do wonder, if I have for example, my main character in a neighbourhood with my guildies, can i have a home on an alt in a neighbourhood with my friends?
Can I have 2 homes as an alliance building (of the same place, for example stormwind) on 2 different characters, and show those different houses off to different neighbourhoods?

all in all, this whole article seems very exciting and positive, can’t wait for more!

I were also thinking if we can have both, alliance / horde but I guess would think its only 1 per account but who knows. I have two active accounts linked so I could but I dont see reason.

This looks cozy, I think Im leaning towards alliance style houses with this in mind unless I stay homeless

This feels like such a pointless feature.

I honestly can’t understand why anyone would want this.

Casting aside the disappointment of orc vs human and it is positive to see a warband approach and a long term commitment to housing.

I am very pleased none of the awful systems will be taken on like land grab or rents.

I think whilst the neighbourhood idea is great for some, it misses the mark somewhat not being solo instanced housing for me. My refuge is now set in a whole neighbourhood of 49 others.

It’s also going to be noticeable if your friends stop playing and their houses are vacant. On the other end you’ve got guilds which will have to pick and choose who gets to be in the 50.

I am still looking forward to having my own space to customise and make my own.

1: I am curious if Neighborhoods can be somehow “Themed” , like one is Elf one with a bunch of trees and wild animals , while another is Dwarf with those bunker-like houses .
2: Can we actually interact somehow with neighbors in the neighborhood ? For instance talk to tier characters , or put a vendor out to earn gold or something . Would be cool If I could just designate some prices and let my alt run its" shop" near the house to sell for instance crafting services to neighbors .
3: Can we interact with our characters in the house ? For instance would be cool If i Can just ask my alt to craft me stuff , rather than have to relog to do it . Would be fun to have some reputation with them , or somehow develop the alt’s character/personality for roleplay purposes .

Frizzle pointed that as joke I guess that it could be one matter which ppl on same neighbourhood can argue about, whether on the plot should be apple trees or cherry trees on the neighbourhood.

This thread has put me off even wanting housing with so much doom and gloom

Dont let others opinions on something affect your own decisions on something, its just different opinions. And by the looks of it there is something for all to some degree if not entirely choise on the location or so but otherwise I imagine its possible to create own neighbourhood or be part of some community :dracthyr_a1:

I am still confused about public vs private neighbourhoods.

Public: I don’t wanna be instanced with 49 other players. Just big no from me.

Private: It says, it’ll be for smaller groups of friends or guilds. But what if I want to be in that instanced zone for housing alone? Like having my own piece of Azeroth, with no disruptions from others? Is that even option?

I do get the neighbourhoods will fit many players and they’ll enjoy it.
But will there be also option just for a single player - no need to interact or even see other players around in this piece of world?

If ‘private’ doesn’t mean ‘single player person’ oriented then I am not excited at all.
To all other that look forward to spend time with friends in their neighbourhood, good luck, I hope you’ll enjoy it <3

We’ve been over this kind of argument before.
Not everyone dislikes what you dislike.

Anyway; for me it’s just a creative outlet within the game. I enjoy tinkering around to get it looking just the way I want to. And to that end the collection aspect of it becomes a big deal; because to get it the way I want, I’m going to need options. Lots of options.

Please include an option for warmode for neighborhoods. For private neighborhoods, this’d mean that guild neighborhoods can be attacked by enemy guilds, which could be a much fun PvP activity. For public neighborhoods, turning on warmode can give that thrilling feeling of living in a dangerous, lawless area. Some people want a safe haven, some want to live on the edge.

If those optical sensors come with a powerful zoom or possibility to see thermal signatures through wall then its even more scary.

Treat it as a way to give your own feedback.

What you do and don’t like about what has been proposed. What would you like to see etc.

I’m curious what a private solo neighbourhood will be. 49 empty plots doesn’t sound appealing.

I would rather they allowed solo plots in more locations. I do not understand the forced socialising. My home was meant to be my haven, my refuge.

Dunno if it would been possible make everyone have it on own phase if location were own choosing. How can I rp a hermit fisher living by the sea if Im in allotment garden inland :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

In my book, they’ve really hit the mark with this info. The fact that houses won’t be too expensive is nice, and the lottery system in FFXIV for example really blows, so good to see Blizzard skipping that aswell. I think it will be good for the system that they start in a minor scale with only 2 zones and maybe expands it in the future, instead of going big and not being able to pull something good off. And I love the idea of “Private Neighborhoods”, so that you can have your closest friends or guildmates for neighbors, well done Blizz!
