Getting really sick of having to scroll through page after page of single items just to get to the stacks. Can’t blizz ban auction addons that allow players to mass post single items at the click of a button?
I’ve never understood the appeal of selling in stacks of 1.
It’s useful in some items, but useless in others.
Yes it’s so irritating. After 10 pages of single linen cloth I just gave up and didn’t buy any.
not that i do it but it’s cheaper to post 1 at a time for 2 hours.
most of the time they’re cheaper to buy as well. auctioneer will tell u what’s best to buy if u use it. works both ways
You shouldn’t have to install an addon in order to counter all the crappy 1 stack of cloths.
It isn’t cheaper to post 1 at a time though, since most of the time… the single stacks don’t even sell that well.
I’m more likely to buy a stack of 20 that’s a few silver more than have to click buy on 20 single stacks.
They’re known as “walls” and they do serve an economic purpose: lowering the cheapest buyout price.
They’re counting on people not buying the “walls”, and instead just undercutting them.
… so then they buy the stack, or the cheaper wall.
They get plenty of <.x> to then flip on the AH and sell it right back to you.
I’m not sure of the deposit prices in Classic, but I think they’re poorly optimized to begin with so who knows really what they’re thinking.
I don’t know about banning it, but surely an option to select stack auctions only whilst searching could be an idea?? Single stack lists are fine if using an addon yourself apart from that it feels like spam
Ok. So the solution is not to ban the addon, because using the WoW AH interface is bad, very bad. It’s bad for scrolling, it’s bad for finding items, it’s bad for finding the cheapest, it’s just bad overall.
Auction addons helps our lives a lot, it becomes a much much more enjoyable experience trying to sell or buy something on AH, and easier.
So if you want a solution, remove the option from the game to post single stacks of items that can stack.
But typing this just sounds very stupid in my head at least.
Back in vanilla the same thing happened, does nobody remember this?
People do it because it’s more efficient to sell like this, especially on a fresh realm where people don’t have that much gold yet.
You are making your life a lot more difficult yourself because you are not using the addon, people can still post single auctions without the addon. Sure it becomes a lot more tedious, but it is still possible.
Default UI is not usable and basically forces to install addons if you care about buying cheapest lots or post with minimal undercut, one stack or not. So not a big issue.
I think its also lack of understanding how the addon works. They shooting themselves in the foot selling like that.
Why not just click on the highest price and you will get the stacks there.
You buy a 20 stack for 1g, sell the individual stacks for 10s each. People don’t generally need an entire stack, especially for crafting specific things. The seller doubles their money and probably within an 8h auction too. Now do this on 10-20 items per day and you’re making a lot of money, very quickly
I’m an AH “shark” myself and it’s so fun watching money grow! It’s a game within a game to me. I’ll send a character 1 silver and see how much gold I can make in 3 months for example. I only look at the AH at the beginning and end of the day, so i’m not even devoting more than 20 minutes to the task and yet still i’m making lots
PS I don’t use acutioneer, so ban it all you like
Auction house UI has always been bad in wow. I use auctionator to circumvent this.
I don’t think it should be banned.
Which version do you use?
Because addons consolidate the auctions by price and allow you to buy the specific number you want. The one I got for classic sucks though, I prefer the simpler one.
It’s kind of rediculous to see items being sold at vendor prices. I’ve seen some even being sold cheaper than vendor price!
Yes you should, because the UI is silly and bad. Blizz should either update the AH interface or do nothing about it at all.
I use auctionator because i cannot sort on buyout price or set filters on range or stacksize and so on. It just that the AH screen is not realy user friendly.
If there was a way to filter or combine the single items than there is no reason for me to use it. But since there isnt ill use it.
Thanks to someone on the forums, I have a macro that puts all the listings in buyout price order (it’s just a one line script). Those stacks of 1s aren’t always the best deal.
