I am asking for people in random BGs to be able to be competitive in random BGs without doing anything but random BGs. It’s a perfectly reasonable request. This holds for all other types of content in WoW - instances / raids / hopefully now for rated PVP as well.

People who want to be competative arn’t willing to play competative. You’ve said it yourself, its a random battleground where you want the random part to be decoupled to fit your own agenda.
Yeah, im done, ill just enjoy playing bg’s againt the spammers. If anything its made me more excited for them.

This is not a difficult concept.
You are saying to people who are doing random BGs - hey, guys, “just” go do rated. Yet mere weeks ago you were probably objecting to “if you want to do PVP, just go do PVE”. It’s the exact same thing, people who do X don’t want to have to do Y to be able to be competitive in X.
Jesus fing Christ, is the wow community really that uncompetitive. Gear should never ever be a thing in rated pvp. Your reward is the rating you get and that you managed to beat players because your skill was higher than theirs and not because of stats. Wins because of gear are not worth anything, it just means you won because you played longer.

I guess it is okay that a rated player steamrolls a group of low-geared players in a rated environment but not okay if a low rating team beats them.
Funny part is that gear is NOT a thing in the OFFICIAL WoW rated pvp events.
Everyone picks from the same ilvl gear, PvE gear is disabled, etc … how about them logics ?
Hopefully, they will implement some changes to make random BG-only players competitive in random BGs. I suggested forcing gear in random BGs to the 210-220 ilvl range, they could do that, or they could do something else similar.
If they do nothing, your best bet is M+. Or stop PVPing.
Rated PVP won’t save you because the entire design is a pyramid, the best gear is only available to the small fixed percentage of the players. So, by design, that’s only a solution for that small fixed percentage. The advise to “just do rated PVP” is dead on arrival because it fails for 90% of the players. Again, by design. The only real solution is PVE. Specifically, M+.
U can’t even do normal bgs atm if u que solo becouse only premades in there, just imagine in shadowlands how it will be.

Start doing arenas and rated battlegrounds. Stop asking for good gear through random bgs. Wtf is wrong with you? Either work for it or dont complain.
This is like locking all best gear in PVE and saying: if you want to do arenas, go PVE, wtf is wrong with you. Either work for it or don’t complain.
Random BGs and rated PVP are different types of content. Suggesting to switch to a different type of content just to be competitive in your preferred type of content is silly, it doesn’t work.
You probably really didn’t play casual PvP very much in the past. If you did, you would know that BfA(the worst PvP expansion ever) was the first expansion ever where unranked PvP gear was trash in all PvP content(first was Legion, M+ system ruined PvP and they knew it so they made templates). Before BfA in every expansion you cold have honor gear and you did not feel like trash compared to people with the best gear. You was in some disadvantage, but you could still win if you made less mistakes than oponent. Try that on 8.3 BfA for example with 380k hp PvP char with no corruption vs 550k hp full corrupted guy. He could backpedal, click all spells and use half of his important abilities and still melt you completly on gear. This power gap between honor gear and rated/better PvE gear is just insane now compared to every expansion before Legion and it ruined PvP. I don’t like templates, there were better systems before, but compared to this sht they were fuing masterpiece… And what is this stupid mentality about putting effort into something. If I spend 500h in random BG that is no effort at all? People with Marshals and Grand Marshals in vanilla got it for free day one with no effort at all? Not everything is about stupid ranked, somebody play games for fun not to climb in some virtual ladders you know, but that does not mean zero effort. We still pay for this game and we should not be weaker opponent in PvP than some rare spawn elite or in BfA even target dummy level…
Both are pvp. Dont expect to get good gear through random BG’s. Pve and pvp are 2 different things. Random bgs and arenas are both pvp.
They are different types of content. Arenas are tight-space small-scale, BGs are large-space bigger-scale. Random BGs are auto-queue, rated BGs are manual groups.
you guys shouldnt be able to kill a lv 60 geared char with your fresh toons. This is how it always has been. Once the templates and scaling came, pvp declined. It nearly died. The system we have now is a god bless and the very reason i returned for wow pvp

What we have now is good for rated PVP, but terrible for unrated. They should extend / amend what they did to accommodate unrated.
Its pvp. No different content. Big scale pvp, group pvp, solo pvp, whatever pvp, its pvp.
This is a silly argument. Pet battle PVP is also PVP. Let’s lock best gear for arenas behind pet battle PVP then, it’s fine according to you.
