Check PvP - How to protect yourself and your Characters

Make the ignore function based on the battle-tag system. Problem solved.

That would be sick but similarly would be a way to ID people who don’t want to be ID’d, right?

If I ignore your character and another character mysteriously becomes ignored, then I’ll be like well well well if it isn’t my old nemesis …

I think there are few ways for an automated solution (though yours is better than what we have now for sure, would be even better if you couldn’t see people you had on ignore too)

It’d be a step forward but sadly it’s something Blizzard would have to do i.e will never be done ever.

We’re kind of left with just what can players do about it and the answer is not very much beyond keeping bad faith actors out of their communities.

Trying to disassociate myself from the Kaitylinn brand on an alt, instantly recieve 15 “Hi Kait” whispers

Truly check pvp is the gaze from which we cannot hide

Hi Kait

Fair point. Although the way I see it, unless a third party program can gather info on that bit, all that you know is that said player is in your ignore list - a category of players you don’t want to interact with, assuming there is more than one you cannot know who he is exactly.

Get out of my room!

“Hi Kait!!”

speaking from experience coming from an MMO with a very similar system (GW2) it was always extremely easy to figure out.

Unless you’re someone that blocks people on a daily basis you’ll generally be able to keep track of who is who.

Correct me if I’m wrong but WoW is the only ActiBlizz game where ignoring someone starts and ends with the player avatar and not their Battle.net account, both in-game and on the forums.

It’s a bit strange that this hasn’t been changed so WoW was in line with the rest of the games ActiBlizz has released.

So, I’ve just seen that my OP has being flagged as “inappropriate”. I have absolutely no idea why, as there is nothing hostile or offensive in it whatsoever, merely a way to help people stay safe online.

I imagine this was a mass-flagging job by the people who like to use this to stalk other folks. Not nice at all, but there isn’t much else of an explanation for this.

Continue to fight against online trolling and stalking in all it’s forms, Argent Dawn!

Let’s be real, it might’ve been created for that, but how many PvPers do you think just use it the same way uptight M+ guys use RaiderDOTio?

Overall, I get why the problem is so hard and why GMs would want to defend their community from rotten apples. There are crazy people out there and guilds are often meant to be a space where you can share private sides of yourself, with the implication that there’s an element of privacy to them.

But likewise, individuals should be prioritized: they are isolated and have less means to defend themselves from a stalker or an harasser. It’s good that people know how to protect themselves, imo.

It might be because the function is tied to other character tags (ie. mail service and who knows what else). So changing it would bug other functions

Just edit the OP by one character and resubmit it, it clears the flag (unless it’s re-reported like 3 times)

Loads. Check the feed on the right side of the page lol, we are an absolute minority in terms of active users on the site.

I’ll give that a go.

Nevermind, I can’t. It’s been too long since I first typed it.

My response to this is: Don’t let a blatant mass-flagging op. disuade people from having a meaningful discussion, and protecting themselves from stalkers.

At the risk of repeating myself, I hope that everyone here at least agrees that there is nothing in the OP that is offensive or hostile, that merits being flagged as such.

Looking at the check history on the right, I feel like a plenty of them do. It’s good to know whether the person claiming to be 2700 on their rating on their main truly hit that, or if they never breached 1700 and want a carry.

doesn’t seem as consistent anymore, I wasn’t allowed to edit my clown emoji to make it visible again

my achievements may correctly show that i peaked at 1800, but i’m 2700 in my heart, and that’s why you should aid me in claiming the rest of my elite set, comrade …
