That’s the real issue. There is no data to support such a crazy number. Especially now, 4 weeks before DF. If it was beta only just to test something, it would be better.
But they specifically nerf Enhance on LIVE servers where it wasnt even overperforming. And then they dont pull a 5% nerf, which would put us mid of the pack.
They pull a crazy number like 25%…
Even 15% would be enough to bring us to the bottom of prepatch data. 5-10% is mid of the pack.
25% is just making sure we are fighting against tank dps. Mid of the pack will be 41k, tanks will be 27k - and enhance will be 34k…
And just another side note because i know how enhance works at level 70:
we get DRE, which is extremely random. First sims suggested, that the same spec can be 24k and 45k, based purely on RNG. Average was 32k.
So even a log where the enhance is pulling 40k doesnt mean enhance needs a nerf. It is just the way you designed the spec.
Instead of looking why an enhance is doing 24 to 45k in sims, you probably just saw the 45k and thought: ok we gotta nerf it. But what happens is that enhance is now 18 to 34k, averaging 24k. And this means that only in the few lucky tries, we are able to compete.
If you really have data, that suggests, enhance can overperform, you should look at reducing the RNG elements of those builds.
A flat 25% damage reduction probably kills the spec because on average, we werent THAT good. Especially not on live servers.
The issue is: 25% is a crazy number, it has no target. Just a random number without any explanation. It is enough to kill a spec because it wasnt overperforming that much.
What I want to make clear for all the people saying “this is an insane nerf”, remember that nerfed classes can later be buffed again. If they overdo it, they (the devs) surely will buff it back a bit. Don’t be so pessimistic, lads.
Well, you are absolutely correct. The feedback is extreme because the nerf is extreme. We have not seen blanket nerf like that from the beggining of wrath (retri prepatch). People are complaining because this changes the spec from one of the best, to one of the worsts.
Again, this is NOT about next expansion (most people do not have the data, and it MIGHT be warranted), but about current content.

Was Enhancement really doing 25% better than every other spec ? Or was it preforming good, and blizz dosent want enhancement to do good.

I guess i have to rethink about maining disc priest in DF. And i had so much fun with it in the last few days…
in the start of HFC Demo lock got the same nerf a hard one because it was overpopulated as blizzard said. this nerf is Quite hard and tbh i dont like Flat dmg nerfs because its every single skill that got nerfed.

From what I remember people were complaining here about damage of Enh in PVP.
Blizzard really went “we really nailed Enhancement, great trees, variety of playstyles, great theme and flow, everyones having a blast…lets make it totally uncompetitive so no one will play it at high end” my word. The lack of explanation is very concerning also. If it only effects pre-patch fine, whatever, if its live in DF then I think alot of people will just quit
Keep in mind the tuning is done based on data from level 70 with 4set bonus and not prepatch data. They do not balance because a class is OP in prepatch, they balance because they are strong end-game. Pre patch lvl 60 with conduits and legendaries are not the end-game anymore.
The reason they implement the changes in prepatch is just like they made sub rogue garbage, because at lvl 70 we have different kits.
Just accept that pre-patch is interim and is there to avoid season 1 being completely messed up. Remember season 1 where rogues oneshot everyone with Echoing Reprimand?
We don’t want that again. This is for the greater good. I don’t want any class to pull ahead of others, in neither PvE or PvP.
Also remember classes scale differently with ilvl. Ilvl on beta is 400+ and it looks like we got more off stats, so sweating over changes in pre patch is not something i’d give a **** about.
Spend the time learning to master you class with all your new different kind of builds. Build talent pages for different setups, test out, experiment and take in everything.
You have no idea how the the end-game will play out anyway. They might change up things 5 times before game is released. There’s a reason its called “Off Season” and theres nothing to achieve.
Sub rogues were hit hard with the hammer in pre patch, but Im confident that we at some point will be relevant. Everything is crazy right now with conduits, legendaries and convenant abilities overlapping new systems. And yes I agree it should have been disabled, but we are here now and there’s 27 days left.
Spend those 27 days learning every talent properly and maximizing your OWN output. You can’t do crap about the balance anyway, it’s done based on data and data only from level 70+ with set bonuses.

They want you to play resto and sometimes elemental. Always. Lol
Yeah except with enhancement they tend to forget about it after nerfing it for 1-2 seasons.
Started playing enhancement because i like how the spec plays atm, changed to talents to what i prefer more myself (away from hot hand) and popped off. Sure a nerf was coming, but 25%? That is insane and the numbers provided by people really prove a point.
Thanks blizzard, I waited 5+ years for this. For you to kill the only class that was fun to play.
I put up with nerfs, reworking, taunts from other healers, battles that weren’t designed for disc priest timings. I adjusted every patch, every addon, for each boss I came up with one or another strategy as I need to give my buttons to heal more effectively, I changed covenants because here better kyr and there vent, in general, what to tell you, you do not play your game, you do not have a designer class that plays on the specialization that he nerf or up.
Thanks for all the time when the disc be played. But after this news, I’m tired. There is no point in playing this game, I repeat, it was the only class and specialization for and with which I was happy to go into the game.
