I had a blast on release, but now my nostalgia is gone and I login only for raids and I’ll go casual.
The “fresh” release was really nice, but since the week 2 of PvP release and then BWL release, you can feel the void of soul in Classic.
- Classic is full of bot and Blizzard do nothing (/who Stratholme).
- Lot of players cheated in Alterac Valley with anti-AFK macro to get easy R11 before pushing to R14 on my server, Blizzard did nothing and banned only a small fraction of them.
- Classic raid are badly designed, easy, uncompetitive. The only thing that people want is either speedrun who require a huge amount of Warrior/Rogue, zero diversity (every top server guilds do the same thing), or just log parse.
- Raid are so easy that people can buy loot in any raids with GDKP PUG.
- Everyone is a clone because raid are to easy, legendary are like epic.
- 40 raids are a chore to organize and there’s no renew of Classic population, in practice there’s more leaver than newcomers.
- Healer is a horrible role to play in raid, with good players in your raid there’s nothing to do. You spam /stopcasting and try to snipe others healers. There’s no raid wide damage that require huge amount of heal, no fun encounter, exception is Vael with a fight duration of 25-30s …
- There’s no difference between a good player and a very good player. Any normal person can do 99 parse in Classic, rotation and gameplay is to basic to create a large difference between a good player and a very good player.
- The only thing that matter to parse in raid is world buff and your luck. You can play a well geared caster and have resist / no crit (even with full world buff), while a less geared caster can do a better job with less resist and more crit. It’s only about luck. There’s a room for optimization, but it’s to marginal. Time to kill is to low to create a difference for lot of class.
- World Buff ceremony before each raids is horrible and create frustration.
- Mage boosting & chinese bots farmer destroyed economy and low level social interaction in dungeons to make friends. 25% of my friends list login everyday on Mage alt to boost players in Zul Gurub to get golds for TBC or to buy gear in GDKP pugs.
- Being forced to login and use a bot to sit in city otherwise you end up in a 2 hours queue time is a shame.
- Battlegrounds are for premade only and Alterac Valley 1.12 is a joke. Wargame proved that Blizzard focus is exclusive in premade, they don’t care about solo queue.
- Faction unbalance will never be solved and will be a disaster in futur with TBC.
Positive point ? Discord server community, reddit, forums, the release, the first week of PvP with Hillsbrad Battle, the leveling experience, the drama, the first months when you raids, the gold farm before pre-Mage boosting era, the adrenaline when you do a well speedrun, and the better social experience in guilds if you compare with Retail.
But honestly, it’s not a game for me. It’s a good game when player discover it, but if everyone know everything, it’s not the same. Good luck all for AQ, Naxx, and TBC.
See you in Shadowlands .
