Classic is really deluding many people

At this point, I have lost count at the amount of people saying how much better Classic is simply because “People are having fun and communicating again” Players are helping each other out, buffing each other, socializing blah blah blah. I have a bit of breaking news for you: You can literally do all these things in current retail. Nothing is stopping you but yourselves. The reason many are not social anymore is because they choose not to be.

Me on the other hand, I always say hello to my guild. I usually always chat with my dungeons groups and try to start conversations in the zones I am in. The fact not many others bother to reply is not a reflection on me or the game, it’s these players choose to remain silent.

Now all of a sudden in Classic, the magic is back again? People acting like the ability to chat and socialize was somehow disabled in the current game. Now I know I will get a ton of clapbacks like “People are actually having fun in Classic. durr hur hur”. But having fun is a personal choice. You just chose to log into retail with negative feelings and allowed that to rule how you played the game. I myself am having just as much “fun” as I usually do because Classic is literally not much different than the current game. Anybody who says otherwise is fooling themselves.

I do hope down the road, more people start to snap out of the nostalgia fog and realize this, but at this point, I am just losing faith in the attitudes of this player base.

But true. Serious.
If I choose to, I can chat around or group up in BfA too.

Rofl, I think the only person deluded here is you. It’s a completely different game.

*** Because they dont need to ***

Its not important to have friends on retail because of LFR/LFM/LFD tool.

However that is not the case in classic. the social aspect in retail is completely dead - because socialism in retail is not required to play the game.

Being social in retail would be easier if it wasn’t mainly populated by anti-social people and if it didn’t have systems that encouraged less communication.

Other than that, yeah sure, it’s technically “possible” to be social there.

You don’t do M+, no raids, no ranked PvP… no actual end game content. You just do the auto-win world quests and basic grind. Sorry but we aren’t interested in that and won’t do more world quests with you.

Pay more attention next time, if you can with your bfa facerolling.

Not really, you don’t have many buffs in retail. But yes, you can do the rest.

Sure is. If you somehow get past the queue boss, but yes, the magic is back again. Whatever it is that is making many people socialize, buff, chat, be lively, it surely is back in Classic and is for a too large part missing in retail.

Mate, I don’t know how to spell it out better: I played retail, it wasn’t fun. It’s got nothing to do with preexisting negative feelings, it has to do with the fact the game wasn’t fun. It was a list of features with a predetermined path every week that got real boring real fast. The fact that I didn’t like doing most of that content you are pressured to do if you want to do well in the game didn’t help one bit.

Good for you, I genuinely hope it lasts, and I hold nothing against you if you like retail. But I’m having WAY more fun than I had in retail in years. How exactly am I deluding myself again?

What attitudes? That people happen to like what you don’t? It is in fact you that should snap out of that attitude - there will always be others who will like different things.

no the reason no one is sociable is because you can literally play solo and dont need buffs or groups from others to complete stuff

I’m sorry, but hahahahaha, this is funny  I think you mean socializing is not needed

But I agree with the OP, retail can also be social, I play it with friends and it’s always fun that way. And you can interact and buff people in retail too.

Although I concede that buffing in retail is not so satisfying as in Classic, that’s because in Classic you know the buff gives the other player a real advantage and will truly help them in their quests. This is why at the beginning of the BfA expansion, when everyone is still levelling up, my paladin always buffed mages with the health and mana regen. Because it truly helped in that case.

Are you suggesting people that prefer Classic over Retail are the issue? Sounds like it.

I tried to speak to ppl in Retail, largely not interested, too in a rush. I suspect in a rush to do whatever ***** WQ’s they are forced to or whatever and log off.

Was just standing at Menethel waiting on a boat to Darkshore, talking to a Warrior for about 15 minutes before we went different ways. As we parted the warrior added me as a friend and said ‘anytime you need a tank, give me a shout’.

That never happens in Retail.

I could go on, but you don’t care, you justed wanted to post your piece. Now you have don’t waste any more time with Classic, it’s really ****, you won’t like it.

Idealistic scenario, classic will remind people that being nice is… nice.

Questing in the retail edition is easy enough to not worry about buffs. We help each other because we see the struggle. Also, buffs can be substantial. My mage had 202 health and the priest fortitude gave me 80 extra. While not usually necessary, it allows me to fight an extra mob, or a greater pack between replenishing my resources.

As for dungeons, retail has become World of Farming. People do communicate when needed (sheep this, sap that) but usually it’s just kill order. M+ might be different. Low level, however, alongside past expansions, is all about farming xp, rep or both as quick as possible.

Classic has a slower pace overall, that allows people to allocate brain capacity to be social. Retail often feels like World of Diablo. Go, rush.

… Plus, obviously, there is no group finder. You need to talk, and once you do, it’s natural to keep discussing.

To be honest, in retail there is no reason to talk to random people you will never see again. That is more of byproduct of cross realm LFG / LFR or what ever, rather than just a player’s choice. In Classic, I have seen this same behavior but my guess is that people are used to not to talk to strangers in the game, but I hope it will get better in time.

There is no point to it. I personally laugh at people dying under my holy feet, begging for help, but that is just me.

I’m not deluded. I like classic for many, many reasons. The biggest of which is probably the slower pacing of both the experience and the combat. I also quite like the simplicity. Fewer classes, no stupid gearing gimmicks, just back to basics good-old-fashioned RPG mechanics. Proffessions were much more interesting and rewarding in vanilla than any of the expansions I’ve played since too.

I emphatically agree with this statement.

Bethany had already made a lot of posts against classic, she is a delusional troĺl, or a BFA blizz designer, worried for the future of his job, just flag her for trolling
