You just played way too much wow for 1 week. of course it can piss you off then
The problem might not be the community, but the server where you decide to roll in… In my case all people are bloody amazing and i lived (and still livin) amazing pve and pvp adventures NON stop, even leveling.
So I’ve been playing on the RPPVP server Zandalar Tribe on the Alliance side, and my experience is a bit different:
I think there’s a bit of layering going on here and there but overall I tended to see the same large group of people from Anvilmar to Kharanos. Groups and connecting has otherwise been absolutely amazing, with a large active guild and people that absolutely want to talk with you. Groups often do tend to be short-lived, but they’re generally open to levelling more with you, talking with you and making friends.
I think PVP servers tend to attract the wrong kind of players like streamers, their gigantic posses, unpleasant gankers and just singleminded people that actually enjoy retail because of the singleplayer experience. Given, Zandalar Tribe currently has Nixxiom (he himself and his core fanbase tend to be much nicer anyways) playing on it on the Horde side and from that side of the server I’m hearing a few more negative things happening such as general hostility between members of his guild, Gravediggers, and the smaller fishes in the Horde sea.
I expect layering to go away for the less full servers and eventually the massive crowds of Twitch followers will dissipate. They honestly already are from what I’ve seen, and the community ‘left behind’ is still large enough to maintain the game. I’m only not sure whether levelling will become easier, although I think the devs should consider making respawning for mobs take longer when the population dies down a bit, as you’ll easily get trapped between unbeaten mobs and respawns just behind you.
In case you’re willing to try out roleplaying, Ailwyn, you can always join ‘our’ server (which also has a lot of resident PVPers anyways even if you don’t). On Alliance you want to hit up with Trade Coalition, their community is active for most of the day and is generally extremely nice and helpfull!
For some reason I decided to read the whole wall of text and I agree with everything you said. Would be cool if you were on my server but whatever. What I hate about blizzard is that they used to be heroes, now they are company led by, as you said fat pay-checks managers, and I would add to that zero brain activity managers, I wonder what they did to get to that position, I bet the actual workers within company are crying on the inside, actually I know they do, that’s why all this sh*t is happening and will keep happening, and I will probably get a forum vacation if I keep talking like this.
Past two years people have been ranting and raving saying “WE ARE GOING HOME BOYS!” then just proceed to do this is beyond my belief.
Im on that server and, indeed, it’s pretty much all you said, tho I have noticed that horde are quite more leveled usually than Allies, ive seen even some with mounts.
Honestly? I don’t have the same experience as you at all. Rolled horde on Gehennas on a new account (I wanted nothing to do with BFA so I cut my ties with my vanilla account and said “so long baby!” and made this new one) and it’s been amazing so far. Friendly helpful people everywhere, buffing each other and giving out food/drinks, helping with kills, grouping up and often chatting after finishing quests.
I’ve added roughly 20 people to friends from level 1-24, and I feel like I make new friends every time I log on. I also tend to help out when I see someone ganged up on by mobs and stuff, and I feel like people do the same in return.
All in all this has been exactly the Classic experience I wanted and longed for. Amazing social experience, and amazing leveling experience. Just perfect.
My only gripe is the memeworthy queues forcing me to remote desktop at work around 3 pm (now) to be able to log in at home around 5 pm… if lucky.
Had a similar experience to you. I am hoping things will change with time.
I am glad that some players are having a blast.
Like the poster above me said, I’m also hopeful that things will be diferent in the future.
I rolled horde on Gehennas and ive had a blast. Granted, the queues are horrible, but that was expected. My experience has been amazing. But Ive seen the people you mention, i even know some… And, well… I guess people enjoy different things.
I feel that many people that started in late expansions or never played wow before are trying the game and simply are not used to so much socializing, they are trying to play it solo like usual, grouping only if absolutely necessary. Give them time, they will understand how this game supposed to be played. They need to adapt.
But overall its super friendly and fun
-
I have yet to see a single queue.
-
I have done pretty much every available quest in the areas I’ve visited, including group quests, with people that I stayed grouped with that got added to my friends list.
-
No problem with PvP since I’m on a PvE server.
-
Regarding layering. There has been enough people around at all times, never posed an issue. But I can somewhat related to the sentiment.
-
As for the community - I have yet to meet a rude player. Not a single hint of one so far. Worst encounter I had was “sorry man I’m almost done here” when trying to invite someone in a quest area.
-
I also had my soul sacrificed to Kil’Jaeden by two lovely ladies in their undergarms in Goldshire Inn after a very satisfying lapdance.
I love Hydraxian Waterlords.
And here is the best part - I’m only level 18.
What really matters is if those two ladies were also lvl 18, otherwise you might be going away for a while
I’ve met plenty of rude players, and I am quite tired of reading the Trade/General/Zone chats as a lot of it is about how much better classic is, and how much BFA sucks.
People seemingly can’t enjoy one thing without crapping on another?
And if you point out even the SLIGHTEST negative thing, people tell you to stop playing, they get utterly rude, claim you’re a “BFA-baby” etc…
I used to hardcore raid back in Vanilla, played day and night, 6 days a week raiding 8h a day, 7th day I pugged, I got the chance to see Naxx as it was first introduced and killed some bosses in there - and I was sceptical about going back to it all.
At first I was enjoying Classic, but as time goes on; The community is just ruining it all for me.
People also ninja chests, Named mobs and ores etc right infront of you as you’ve cleared camps.
In BFA that matters not due to mob-sharing and anyone able to loot things (cept for chests, ofc) — but in Classic it can be a ruiner of the entire evening…
Launch Started with another scam by Blizzard to get people paying earlier to reserve names on the meagre amount of servers they started and ignoring requests for new servers until far to late. It, as expected, turned out to be an absolute cluster and someone at Blizzard really should be fired for this disaster.
Questing. I’m having a blast and on the whole people are really good, friendly and helpful.
PvP It’s going to happen, probably to your disadvantage far too often and anyone who has played this game before knows this. They also know, regardless of faction, it won’t often be 1v1 or even 2v1 it will almost always be unfair to the person being ganked.
Layering. CRZ was the start of all this rubbish and it has been a down hill slope since then with terrible idea after terrible idea of this nature from Blizzard . For those that don’t remember:
With this technology, we can also flag zones to allow for more than one copy of that zone per realm. Players on that realm will be split among those copies in order to alleviate problems due to overpopulation. Players won’t normally see or interact with those on a different instance of their zone, although joining a party will relocate all party members to a single instance of that zone.
We all knew it was going to be bad, probably even Blizzard knew too, but they cannot be told about something they think we the customers want, and like. Even when it has always been clear we hate it.
Community I really can’t fault the majority of them. There have been some less than great encounters but a miniscule amount compared to how many have been good fun to be around. I have added people to my friends list and now run around with two every evening as we play at the same times.
I am not rushing though so my mileage will vary because like Shajari said:
Honey, it seems communication is not your…forte point. I understand that you are coming from Retail, but here you either speak, communicate, etc with other players, or you get your …Retail experience.
You really have to be kidding at this point. What server are you? I switched servers 2 times and I made a friend in the launch day on the first server and 2 days later when I switch to other server because of real life friends, he came after me! Now we are constantly playing 6h daily in party. Plus I found a bunch of other nice people which at least 10 of them i’ve added to my friend list.
I seriously just read portions of your #Rant , because I remember your name from back in BfA launch time when you defended it like crazy …
So for me, your #Rant is nothing more then a crybaby post where you are basically telling us, how you can’t manage to make in-game friends or the …will to try to make some and/or communicate with other players.
From the tone of your post, I think there is a good chance that you are one of the self-entitled, rude people who are a detriment to the Classic experience. It appears that you are also missing the point of her post entirely.
really ? you got that from what they said? sigh lol
Am I? Before I logged of 30 mins ago, I was in Lakeshire and just when I was about to enter Inn to log out, I received a PM, telling me to help him kill Belly, as on my Warrior I’m 26. “Sure” I said, and there I was, helping the guy.
I am never “that person” in-game with people who basically knows how to COMMUNICATE! If you come to me with crocodile tears and cry that “… people i have encountered so far simply have no interest in actually playing an MMORPG” , then I am 100% is YOU who mess things up, and not other people.
Now, based on your profile, why don’t you go back to Retail and leave this to players who plays Classic?
I have read all you post really carefully…
What I made out of it is, that the alliance players on your server suck.
I am playing horde on ZT, and I am taken aback by the quality of people…
Just to give you an example, I was running rfk for corpsemaker and ofc it never dropped, and as I was doing the dungeon for the 7th time (and 7th time the escort) I made some complaining rant about my damnn luck etc etc. The people in the group stayed and did Ramrusk runs till it dropped, and even the warrior passed on it.
So again since what I get from your post is that you enjoy the game but the communities is not what you expected, well your faction of choise on you server of choise sucks in that department
Have a great day though and don’t give up! Once the tourists leave and layering is removed it’ll all be better!
