So first of let me apologize to you for being so snappy. Last couple days have been extra draining with all the half info flying around and the doomium being in high concentration.
Second i checked the pdf and while.there.could.be actions as you said, with interfaces being blocked and us being basically forced to play on the wow interface alone, right now there is no clear indication to that.
what they explained with secretboxes, are objects that are basically the ânonoâ parts addons are forbidden from editing and/or reading.
This CAN impact interface things. but so far there has been no clear statement that they will restrict the interface API in the same way they do with the combat one.
you mean like we did in the old days? and how the game is suposed to be playd? by actualy try harding end content intsead of having a bot to tell every single thing including to dont stay in the big purple stuff cause you take dmg?
they sayd the mechanics will be easier, and its more than enouph, as someone said above and i keep say again, if youre nod good enouph you dont do it, maybe now the guilds will be more important again to make groups for raids and so on to help each other, but a casual who do endgame and with addons, aint a good player as they brag about, is robot doing stuff the way another robot tell him to do it, doing something cause a addon or a script tells you to do so dosent make you a player who understand the endgame or is good at it, as long as they dont touch handynotes thet can remove and delete all the other crap
till the contrary is proofed? yes, why? cause the wow team is the only one left at blizzard who does a decent work for a live, and cause that way all the toxic addon guys who cant do crap without em will do even less and cry more
Am I the only one excited at this news? The fact I donât have to look for WAâs or extensive addons with their own sets of issues is personally a positive to me.
Natively built-in features will almost always be more performant and with far fewer occasions of taint happening.
It was also annoying to rely on WAâs during raids âOh do you have Bladiebla Pack from BuchiMgucci for this raid?â and having to wait for everyone to install these addons/WAâs just to get started.
I canât speak for people with disabilities, as Iâve seen several make complaints but none have listed any WAâs or addons they use for them to be able to play the game so canât really tell what kinds of things they will be missing out on with these changes.
sweetheart⊠we the casual players. are the toxic addon users⊠Real pro players donât rely on addons or rotation helpers. they will be fine from this change. this wont affect them at allâŠ
this change will only affect noobs⊠baring them even more from endgame content.
While thatâs the intention of blizzard, the current proposal makes it extremely cumbersome to do basic things such as abbreviating names/numbers, animating bars etc.
Sure their system is enough for basic text/texture display, but anything more sophisticated than that will be a pain to implement and I see many addon authors not bothering to jump through many hoops to do things they could do before with basic current health/max health math for example.
Many addons will be killed due to API changes.
But many more addons will be killed by authors not being motivated to update to play nice with their fancy new secret value system.
sorry to disapoint you, never in 17 years of wow, but never, i used a combat addon, the only addons i have are handynotes, narcisus and dialogue ui, in rest nothing, absolutly nothing, and i doubt any changes will efect any of those soon
Well you can choose to react to this however you wish. You wanna go ââHoney this doesnât affect me so i donât careââ? Be my guestâŠ
But it is going to affect allot of people regardless. and it will impact the game.
This game has had combat addons and helpers for over 20 years⊠You really think you could just do away with all of that over night? and expect everything and everyone to stay afterwards?
People are so caught up in the mid-encounter mechanics callouts side of addons that they seem to be forgetting that casual players who like to use addons for their UI because they donât like the standard Blizzard UI are being punished now as well. They did finally update stuff like the CD manager to have a bit more customization but itâs still doesnât allow for anywhere near the amount of customization that something like WAâs can provide. Iâll definitely miss my WeakAura that triggers a clown horn sound when I get BoPâd as a prot pally, but other than that it wonât affect me much. My partner on the other hand has his entire UI replaced with WeakAuras because he hates the standard UI, and now all of his work is gonna go down the drain.
that makes sense yeah. if its too cumbersome to keep your addon running because blizzard starts playing âshy maidenâ who doesnt wants to lose her clothes, then i can see a lot of addon authors who do this as a hobby say âf#ck itâ (i dare you censorship person to edit that out again. instead how about you foward feedback?)
I remember the game being easier back then. I even tanked in Naxx and in heroics. There was no group finder yet, so whoever was up for it was invited. I donât recall the add ons we were using, but gearscore rings a bell. Plus some kind of damage meter. Not sure whether DBM or Bigwigs were a thing. Weak auras certainly not. My DKs rotation was easy and rewarding.
