Yea, you’re daft mate. Where do you see people complaining about pvers afking in random bgs? Is that really the straw you’re trying to clutch here? It’s not an issue.
Can we do the same for m+ items? I don’t want to be force to do m+ for raiding.
I’ve NEVER seen this being an actual thing, unless you mean someone in a lost BG saying “go back to pve”, which is something people have always been saying, and is less of an actual slight against pve-ers and more just someone being a sore loser.
Sometimes they say “go back to tetris”, but I don’t think many tetris enjoyers are feeling ostracized by that.
edit: Should also say, the worry that you’d be forced into PvP for entrylevel gear would just be a numbers problem in how/how fast you acquire gear in PvE. If the grind for entrylevel equipment via whatever means PvE provides feels slower than getting like 100k honor, then maybe they should just buff the source of said gear?
The only drama queens here are you lot claiming EvErYONe WanTEd thIS chAnGe and throwing your toys out of the pram when the flaws are pointed out.
It’s ok. I’ll just leave it here and wait for the complaint threads when it gets implemented so I can say I told you so.
I’ve heard this song before.
Good, so every time there are Forum comments complaining about mercs, etc afking for free honour from a quick loss, to help gear up. I can quote you and Verdill as the relevant authority…yes?
Complaints are always present. If there’s ANY idea, there will ALWAYS be someone to deny it, just for sake “I’m cool and original cause I don’t like it like everyone else”.
Why don’t you complain that playing Starcraft doesn’t give you item level in WoW? Oh right, Blizzard did that to increase “grind”
If you consider something as grind then clearly it doesn’t give you any fun and you shouldn’t do it. If you struggle with perfectionism cause you have to be BiS geared in any possible content - it’s your head problem, not game’s design.
Yes, because as I said above - people will always complain. If they’re gonna afk in bgs they will be quickly reported. It’ll still be improved over mraiders/m+ players jumping in 220+ ilvl stomping PvP gearing players.
And me.
I hate mercenaries, but I’m not seeing a great upswell of AFK’ing.
So, is that it’s not happening… or it does happen?
Very good. This should solve the gearing issue for alts, new players and returning players who start PvPing a month or more into the season, and it should also reduce the number of boosters by a large margin. I hope we’ll see this system implemented in 9.1.
Good to know, since I have done very little PVP recently, my information comes from vocifeous comments on the forums about what is ruining the game…oh wait, I see where I may have made a mistake.
Treat it like a news report. You only ever see the bad news, and it’s cherrypicked. ![]()
I have run out of likes…have an IOU.

Every time someone mentions mercs and afking for honor is about pve players afking for honor?
logic right there.
Hopefully this goes live. If enjoyed PvP on my main, but wanted to sample a new class. Not having to spend weeks grinding honor 24/7 to get the 197 set to have a hell’s chance of getting into rated and not being oneshot left right and centre would be nice, so I can actually sample the class in PvP!
There’s still incentive to grind the ranks though, else your gear will suck for pve stuff like torg, it’s just that whilst you’re doing this you won’t completely be dead weight for your team when earning the honour. That is a good thing.
It also means that gap of 197 to 226 will be a lot smaller when you enter arena and face up against the people getting boosted by their glad mate. Skill can pump a 2v1 with a 10 ilevel difference but at current you need to be masterful at the game to beat out a near 30 ilevel advantage even if the one getting boosted is dead weight. It’s well over a 50% health advantage and more than that when it comes to throughput due to the versa trinket bonus. A 226 player can easily dispatch a 197 in seconds if they know what they’re doing. Won’t be so easy if their opponent has time to respond, and will out more weight on their boosted partner to actually pull their weight.
Well clearly proper PVP players never afk…it’s all about taking the competition very seriously, not cheapening the experience, etc…apparently that’s the problem with PVE players being there and being competitive, in gear they slowly ground out in other content, or by afking
Whatever way you do it, it’s going to be a grind.
That’s how Blizz keeps us playing!
Oh this article gives me hope. Too much hope maybe. I can only hope they actually implement it.
WoD was perfect PvP wise to me. I could level an alt and test it out without gear being much of an issue after getting the honor set. Obtaining an honor set isn’t hard, just grindy, just put in a weeks worth of effort and be on a level playing field for a fair fight.
Blizz please do it!
Can be argued that if we get the WoD itteration, it’ll work like it did in WoD, in which case this is an improvement for PvE-ers who don’t want to PvP and PvP-ers who don’t want to PvE
Can you tell me what your problem is? Afking in bgs happens but it’s super rare and doesn’t impact this much. You have tools to counteract that.
You can’t expect from others to give you perfect solutions to every problem, world doesn’t work that way. It’s about reducing problems to possible minimum, but never zero.
Personal loot solved some problems, created others.
Removing tier sets solved some problems, created others.
Removing 10/25 highest difficulty raids solved some problems, created others.
For me, by implementing WoD gearing system, Blizzard will reduce amount of boosters (since there no longer be incetive to gear through PvP for PvE) and will reduce impact of overgearing PvP players with PvE gear (even if PvP gear will raise to 220 instead 226, it still will be only 6 ilvls). Win-win situation.
As for world pvp ganking - ilvl is the least problem, it’s always about outnumbering ganked player so w/e.
And if someone has issues with “mulitple sets” - wake up, you already do that.
Exactly. But the guy is talking out of his a–, doesn’t actually know what he’s talking about and doesn’t understand the topic at all.
As long as the PVP system has no impact on PVE, then I don’t mind… Tbh, I think there is an argument in favour of making rated PVP (not wPVP) BGS and Arenas, entirely separate. It would solve quite a lot of problems.
