I once wanted to Roleplay as a black soldier in SWTOR. I was told to stop as I shouldn’t be Roleplaying as one, because I was trying to portray an 80’s action hero. And probably because I was a white guy (They wouldn’t admit it, but it was most likely that)
Apparently having a big strong gunner that occasionally says the Star Wars variant of “Oh Hell no” was a bad thing to have, even though it was a character that was portrayed gracefully

Yeah you can be free to play as any circus character you fancy in the game anyway since the unhinged transmog. But lets not stop with brown skinned elves, we need green and blue humans too, no?
Because dark skinned belves that already exists with DHs are completely the same as green and blue humans.

Do we even know they’re humans?
They are that DH… but whatever your reason sounds good in your head I am sure
Let’s not stop there, we need pink fur for Tauren. I want to be a “fabulous” cow. How dare Blizzard doesn’t let me. I’m gonna complain on twitter now.

I’m not discriminating against a continent or its people. Never did I say everyone in Europe is racist. However I did say that this thread reflects an attitude that’s unfortunately more prevalent in Europe than in the USA.
We’ve seen reveal of fur colours, hair colours, hair styles, eye colour combinations, tattoo motives that have not been shown or explicitly established in the lore before but the only one among all these new additions people are taking a huge issue with is dark skinned elves.
Not the heterochromia, not the red wolf skinned or striped worgen, not the tattoos on the male night elves when until now only females were known to have tattoos due to ritualistic reasons, heck not even the pandaren death knights or mechagnome monks.
The real immersion breaker is apparently the fair skinned pretty elves getting dark skin tones. It must be the work of the dreaded SJW crew. Can’t be just more customization for the sake of customization like how most other races already have skin colours ranging from light to dark in their respective colour. Orcs, goblins, trolls, draenei, dwarves, humans all come in various shades. The bestial races get different shades of fur colour and the undead skin offers great flexibility ranging from freshly deceased pale to waterlogged green.
This isn’t some great consipracy to bring real world politics into Azeroth.

From what I recall, blood elves evolved over time to fairer skin tones from night elves.
I welcome the addition but I do think bringing it in suddenly does break the immersion a little and what the typical elf is imagined as and well they’ll need to stick in a fair few NPC’s around the world (especially Silvermoon) to make it feel more common than it was.
They were hiding with the troll druids.

Indeed, on the US forums people are getting triggered by belves getting blue eyes. Here the world is falling apart because they’re getting a darker shade of skin.
Imagine getting so triggered by having an optional (not mandatory) dark skin feature that you have to blame some hidden swj agenda for your internalized racism and denial over it.

They lost their violet hue if I remember correctly. Taliesin verified this on stream, nothing specifies they went pale.
I’m looking at these and they look terrible. They want to add more “diversity” I really don’t care about that. More power to them. In fact I’m happy to see more options. I’m just saying that they look like crap. The hyman models looked good. Maybe make the models seem more unique than just giving them a paint job to satisfy some social demand.

It’s a fantasy game after and there are people out there who love to fantasize themselves as the character they created, just as there are players who create a character not in their image.
Elves in general are quite a popular choice in most fantasy games as they are seen as graceful with slender bodies, wise along with their immortality or a long lifespan, and all that is bound to attract human players of all skin types.
High elves were known to mingle with humans of azeroth right? it could be half elves with more elven body qualities but took the skin color of the human parent etc.
I myself like the additions more choices the better for me tho i’m hoping for scar options, tho I can understand the hate as it wasn’t
readily asked for, as it was a (surprise) and surprises can be welcome to your eyes… or not like a turd your pet left on the floor.
tho this is about some surprise skin color… not some surprise turd as this would be a rather good way to make enemies and seen to others as racist as it’s a touchy subject for many.

Dragons and fireballs are fine but dark skin tones are not. What else is new.
