Dear Blizz, why Cata & not WotLK?

Greetings!

So Hardcore has been fun, however, I originally intended to return to WotLK .

Sadly that is impossible, as both TBC & WotLK have been shutdown/moved to Cataclysm.

You seem to have missed the whole point of Classic, aside from Classic Vanilla

I, like so many others, quit because of Cataclysm.

I came back to Classic because of TBC and WotLK…
and now you’ve moved classic to Cataclysm.
I have heard rumors of TBC and eventually WotLK returning.

  • Is this true?
    • If yes, when?
  • If no, why not?
    • And what would it take to get WotLK back?

When TBC Classic was Live, I spent all the time i could spare playing it, but at the time I was struggling with work, so it wasn’t economically viable for me to buy game-time every month, I eventually had to step away, and now that I can afford game-time, I can no longer enjoy it…
(No, I’m not looking for your pity)

I miss tanking on my Blood Elf Paladin, I miss taking the scenic route over Northrend with my Tauren Druid, I miss farming sub lvl 60 dungeons on my Blood Elf Death Knight to level up professions and earn gold from selling on the Auction House in Undercity, I miss spending time with newbies, teaching them how the game works, helping them find a fitting profession, I miss wasting time the major cities, doing basically nothing other than socializing with randoms in trade chat, or doing light RP and dancing seductively in front of a crowd for giggles, every moment, each painful dungeon wipe, I miss when Healers and Tanks got extra rewards for queueing when there was a big demand for it, I miss when they didn’t get extra rewards, I miss having my rear handed to me in battlegrounds.

I miss everything up until the Cata Pre-Patch.

Could you split them up into separate trilogies?
All with Phased Progression or Annual or Bi-Annual soft-resets.

Vanilla, TBC & WotLK (1-80)

Cata, MoP & WoD, (1-100) or ((1-80) but then you’d have to rebalance everything
since Cata changed just about everything, including the world it self, so that might not be an option.)

Legion, BfA & Shadowlands (1-120/60)

Dragonflight, TWW & “?” (1-80)

It’s just a suggestion for those who want to continue past WotLK.

Of course this all has to make sense monetarily and in terms of infrastructure.
if you want to, you can sell pets and mounts, even though they don’t fit the era, just adjust the stats, if any, mounts and pets are only cosmetic, with mounts having the added function of movement speed of course, and flight.
You can aslo monetise Transmogrification if you want to.
DON’T SELL GOLD though! pls & tyvm, at least not in Vanilla, TBC & WotLK (1-80)
Aside from selling gold, and game-time subscription… I don’t really care what you do for microtransactions to help fund this. I just want play the (in my honest and humble opinioni) best version of WoW again… even if there is only 1 single realm world wide and I have to queue for 4 hours to get in.

It would be EPIC

Anyways, those are some of my thoughts and questions about Classic, primarily the Original WoW Trilogy.

I have found other “topics” that seem to share my thoughts, here are some of them:
Link 1 - Link 2 - [Link 3] Only two links alowed apparently

PS.
This is not intended to be a discussion, this is just the only “correct” way I found to speak to Blizz, as they have made it more and more complicated to speak them over the years.
Which means, aside from showing similar interest in the questions/concerns, (if you don’t agree or don’t want to go back to TBC/WotLK, then please just click away and don’t mind us. If you don’t like it, then you don’t have to participate, easy as pie) any and all community answers are irrelevant, unless they are factual answers quoted with sources from Blizz.

Yep, the Anniversary Classic realms will move up in about a year to TBC then Wrath and so on.

This the forum for discussion about subjects certain subjects CS can help you with. However, this is not the correct forum when you have feedback about the game which your post is about. You have also linked two topics in the correct would-be forums for feedback!

You could never really “directly” talk to Blizzard as in CM’s, Developers etc besides some tweets (they moved to BlueSky?) or at the Q&A Panel at Blizzcon (This was removed).

Players have the right to chime in, positive and negative. You can(not) determine that.

If you’d like to be up to date about Classic things you can always take a look at the Classic forums, or specifically:

You don’t know if “then Wrath and so on”. We only know TBC.

Maybe just Wrath.

Or, do you have your internal sources you can share with us?

I’d not say they were properly ‘returning.’

What we appear to be getting is a kind of temporary version of TBC operating on a timer that will last for 12 months, where everyone has the chance to rush through it at breakneck speed and grab as much content as they can before it all gets taken away.

Not my bag TBH.
