Nobundo, but the organisation is regarded horde biased.
Should have gone back to Rimblat, who is actually on the Dragon Isles.
Can’t find anything that says Nobundo was made leader.
Player is, as per Legion with nobundo taking the role where needed for quests like chasing azerite critters out of the maestrom heart of azeroth order hall in BfA.
Rehgar shows up at the artifact surrender questline when the player doesn’t so…doesn’t that make him the leader?
Or Muln, since he was leader before the player was and only stepped aside for the player.
Apparently it’s also run by an “Elder Council” consisting of Thrall, Muln, and three nobodies who have never appeared in game and only ever appeared in the Shaman manga (a draenei, a troll, and a tauren).
Hamuul’s too busy being an armour vendor to properly lead the Cenarion’s so it’s okay.
The Leader of the Cenarion Circle is a Tauren aswell… Hamuul Runetotem.
Can you belief being a Cenarion Druid joining Malfurion in fighting the Horde in the War of Thorns and the subsequent battle of Darkshore, only to have your revered Shan’do off himself for a green gecko, to then be put under Horde leadership of all things???
Now a days you’d be better of just rejoining normal Kaldorei society as a Druid, instead of joining the Cenarions. Under normal Kaldorei leadership, you’d die a quick and unceremonial death, but atleast you’ll be spared the humiliation of having to serve under a Horde leader who did nothing to stop the War of Thorns, Burning of Teldrassil and the battle of Darkshore😩
This is like saying the Eastern Plaguelands has an issue with mold. Darkshore is effectively undone.
I feel for night elf roleplayers. I sometimes imagine that what if every time humans were brought up in the setting it was on the same narrative quality as Anduin getting skylifted out of Stormwind by crow people and then you had to read a dozen scattered paragraphs on the forums as to why this is actually a good thing and at least you got a heritage set and new hairstyles, you ungrateful man you.
Writing quality is hard, but writing the sort of almost frantic trash that night elf lore has been subjected to takes a special kind of effort and for whatever reason someone in Irvine is getting paid for it.
For instance, what state of mind has a sane person been reduced to to come up with the idea that Tyrande should send one of her most favoured companions into Warcraft
hell for what could be all eternity to become a messenger pigeon for Sylvanas Windrunner?
And then I think about Baine committing treason for the third time, or “Draenor is free”, or Anduin comparing Daelin Proudmoore to the Lich King or the Alliance recruiting Eredar and all those other moments in time where I was equally flabbergasted and come to the conclusion that there is a high chance that Blizzard currently has the worst writers in the entire western gaming industry and the players all suffer from it, but some suffer a little extra.
It worked out for the ones who weren’t villains. Easy mistake to make :V

WoW’s narrative in tl;dr format.

Exactly this. Yes, some exclusively Night Elf posters, particularly on social media, can be a bit unhinged. You get that across the entire spectrum of the game. Some people just make it there pet bugbear to focus on to the exclusion of all else, it seems.
The majority of people voicing complaint about Night Elf stuff that I’ve seen have not been asking for the ‘all wins, all the time’ that people keep exagerating about.
They just want the writing to not be literal dog egg.
And the same goes for all races writing; Tauren and Baine getting smacked repeatedly with the Hippie Woobie stick. Orcs getting stuck in a Muh Honour loop for an entire expac. Gnomes and Dwarves being stuck in time, full stop, with next to no content ever. Humans being restricted from ever having even a whiff of Moral Grey or doing things that aren’t great, actually, which co-mordibly leads us to SoO 2, Failstorm Boogaloo.
I don’t think it’s all that unreasonable for Night Elf fans to look at certain writing decisions and come to the conclusion that some are rather mean spirited and in poor taste.
Azshara being altered to resemble the symbol of the Horde was pretty ridiculous - can you imagine if someone blew up a country in the real world to resemble the flag of an enemy?
The Burning of Teldrassil is another. How predictable that the character responsible wasn’t even killed off and the story took a sharp turn towards exploring her pain and suffering.
The frustrating parts were:
-Sylvanas getting smacked with the villain bat, because losing Garrosh already clearly wasnt enough, then doubling down and making SL was worse.
-The fact they made a big deal over “Ooh, its deeper than you think!” in the prelude and then… no, no, its exactly what everyone said it was, and Sylvanas had the tree torched. No twists, no deeper plot, no Old God anything, or Naga, gods forbid. As subtle as a brick.
Honestly, just running SoO arc again, but worse, was just as bad writing for the Horde. Losing Undercity mught have brought meta parity, but it was still pretty ‘meh’ overall.
Interpreting these efforts as malicious and intentional attempts to “screw over” night elves seems like an overreaction to me, if not outright disingenuous.
Well maybe Blizzard should write a better story then.
I do agree with Taxania’s sentiment here however there’s always the conclusion of “So incompetent it is malacious whether intentional or not.” which is an art form Blizzard has perfected in the latter years.
No I will not say Blizzard writers are purposefully writing crap storylines… But damn I would prefer if it was in some way (Not really). Why? Because at least there’s the underlying assumption that these guys got here because they’re “good” at their job, as corporate as it all is, some must have gotten there because of the merit of their craft. Which I think is the permeating thought behind every Nelfstan, they can’t exactly conceive that someone incompetent got to where they are writing this whereas Peter’s Principle so easily explains it all, so they’re naturally thinking “It has to be on purpose” even if on some degree they know it’s not.
Copium + Hazy morning brain I know, but it’s the best I’ve got.
we got 5 different explanations for teldrassil burning so im pretty tight on it being just an impulsive storybeat rather than anything long-term planned out, because storyboarding is a foreign conept to them idk
Didn’t two of the game’s major developers get into a spat over Garrosh being corrupted and killed off which caused Sylvanas to be written as a cackling and brutal villain as revenge?
Is there merit to that, or is it just a rumour?
…because if it does have merit, then it’s kind of hard not to attribute such writing as being deliberately malicious when the night elves suffered immensely as a consequence.
Night elven military defeats still make sense when you look at their lore.
Nelf posters and dark ranger posters are two sides of the same coin.

Forsaken and Night Elf fans should be united on seeing their beloveds ruined with poor writing but instead they stand at each other’s throats, battling over scraps…

I like both, it’s very ‘fun’ to have this happen to two of my favourites!
im so happy the only nightborne stuff we got was some wedding i dont care for
Looking for a Forsaken player to naked mud wrestle with me. Winner gets ignored by Blizzard for an expansion.
