Dying in wow should be more impactful. We should be afraid to die. So it adds a sense of danger in the world. Just being a spirit for 30 seconds and resurrect with full hp is a bit dull and makes the game uninteresting. There’s a reason people are so hyped about classic hardcore. Everything feels better around you when there’s a sense of danger.
I’m not saying it needs to be something drastically, like losing items/level or anything like that. I’m just saying a debuff for a few minutes or something similar with that will be enough. Anything that makes death being less convenient will be a good thing. World will feel more alive and dangerful.
Especially in warmode, death should be more punishing. Killing someone in the open world just so he will be alive again in 10 seconds and full hp is meaningless.
IF you want to play Hardcore, you’re welcome to play hardcore.
Death in retail is just fine for the players who don’t want to play Hardcore.
But if you die multiple times, you start to get a res waiting time. 1min, 2min so on.
But there’s no point making the rules more impactful for everyone, when not everyone wants the impactful rules. You can just delete your character each time you get ganked if you want. That’s your choice, don’t force on players that aren’t interested.
that’s not enough. It happens often to kill someone and right after you killed him, he already respawns full hp and attack you again. Or vice versa.
this topic.
that have nothing to do not even close with the hardcore challenge. Did you even read? I gave the hardcore as example just to make a point why death should be meaningful.
There is no progression, Changes or advancements in PvP.
It is literally the “forever content” where it’s just plug and play, But you are just spinning your wheels in the same place, like CoD, Overwatch, Lol and whatnot.
that’s because you dont get it. Pvp is unpredictible and dynamic. Sure, blizzard forgot about it for a while and haven’t added much to it. But even with what we got, its still the most fun part about wow for most of us.
And no, its not the same as overwatch, lol, cod and etc. Because you can encounter players in the open world as well. Gear also matters (or at least used to). Other stuff you do in game like profession affects your gameplay in pvp and etc. So as long as this game is a mmorpg, the pvp will be nothing like these other games.
Sure, these stuff i enumerated needs more attention, and some are broken, but it is what is. Its not players fault blizzard is ignoring a big part of wow. Or that they turned this game from a true mmorpg game in a half moba game. Sure, if wow is a moba, pvp is pointless as long as we have the other games.
Can’t deny that. This becomes especially disadvantageous when, despite winning, I only have 20% life left and not even time to regenerate, or when fighting against more than one opponent. I see your point.
But I don’t think that will change. With Dragonflight they even reduced the resurrection sickness from 10 to 1 minute.
Not as meaningless as grinding out the same instances over and over again against some mindless bots to push some numbers. Patch after patch, addon after addon, over and over again lol
I agree.
I just spent the afternoon doing that Baine vs Nokhud Centaur boss. I died a lot. I had two repair bills of around 400g each.
As well as a bunch of slow flying back to my corpse. It was a pain.
Yeah but usually you’re not doing over and over again to matter. You just die once and then take off with the 1 sec cast time 4213123125 % speed flying mount, haha. That’s why what we have now is not punishing enough.
Yeah, that also. Mythic+ will never compare to high rating arenas competition. Competition in pvp will always be the cherry on top. Also, players egos are fun, killing someone you “hate” or hunted for a while. Its more fun and rewarding than pve will ever be. Its not even comparable in terms of fun/dynamics.
I don’t care about PVP, so let Warmode have death debuff, double the repair bills, no flying and whatever you’re having yourself.
Leave us non-pvpers to play the game as we’ve always.
The reason WoW grew so popular is that it wasn’t like the other games back then which had more punishing deaths. In Ultima I remember how you lost all your gear and any gold you were carrying. You had to go to the bank often to desposit stuff you didn’t want to lose.
PvP deaths don’t incur a durability loss actually (if you choose to res at the healer that’s a different matter though). I guess because you can be camped by high level players, if your gear breaks on top of it that would feel awful.
It’s just that originally death was more punishing as you had to run half a zone back to your corpse, nowadays you can fly as a ghost in most zones.
I have two hours a day to play, sort off. This is not a hard line.
I usually dont play on a friday or saturday.
So, on avarage. I have two hours a day to play.
And you want me to stand idle for 2 minutes to wait for a debuff to go away after death?
People SHOULD be afraid to die, make world content harder. Not punish people for dying.
I pull EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE when doing quests, i KNOW i cant die.
And i DONT do warmode. World PVP is a horrible waste of time.
Basically for the same reason people do competitive sports. Feels like scoring in basketball, like a smart move in chess that succeeds, or sometimes like being the first one through the finish line. PvE is a fight against the ball machine in comparison. Quite nice, but boring in the long run.
That’s fine. Some like it, some don’t. It also takes time to get good enough to play properly. Until then, it’s a long struggle because you usually always lose. It’s absolutely understandable if someone doesn’t want to do that.
But if you don’t like it, that’s no reason to advertise its removal.
