Works fine for me.

They started to remove layers and added and ever increasing cooldown on layer hopping. I think it is still working, but the probability of you beeing on the same layer as the person inviting you is very high. Also if you hop once you cant hop again for quite some time.
So to answer your question, yes.

Great news. Exploiters must be exterminated. Using addon to avoid PVP or get mutliple rewards from single mob/stash/vein is exploit in my opinion so I am glad Blizzard is not ignoring it despite it might not be directly breaking ToS.

I mean, people have been saying that about layering for months, yet Blizzard didn’t do anything. Don’t be delusional, they are still not doing anything about it. I’m hoping layers constantly, because if it is in the game, well, I will take advantage off it. Do I like it? Hell no, but that is the game we are playing and the problem was not created by the players. Punishing them is asinine.

Well the current problems were caused by blizzards idea not to open enough servers and hoped launch day ques would cause more people to spill over to fresh servers. Blizzard did not take into account that a huge % of players were organised in large communities before launch. Guilds, friends, language groups even clusters of guilds. These kind of groups could not change their target server on the fly like single players could. It would have been inpossible to tell everyone to move together. Therefore, hardly anyone moved, same with free transfers now. In addition people are stuborn after they made a decision once, the fear of missing out is huge for most people. Most of them also did not see the bigger picture that if everyone wants to play on the same server, only a minority can and the rest has to wait. If the people currently in ques would band together and move to a fresh server they would have an equaly as strong Community as the servers they move from but they will never risk that.

Amount of layers was reduced and they added CD between layer hop. Even if layerhaters like it, for most people questing become a brick wall: its impossible to find quest items/mobs alive.

Good riddance.

They released a hot fix for frequent layer changes which followed a blue post on : 1. Layer abuse wasn’t as significant as some users were making out. 2. Realms have single digit number of layers. 3. They were looking into restricting layer hopping (I guess via the subsequent hot fix).

Edit; To be clear, there is now a increasing internal cooldown on layer hopping.

They also made a blue post that they would break the LFG addon, guess what, it works as it had in the stress test. It scans for messages, spams automatically and auto invites.
Really, they didn’t do anything about the layer hoping. At this point, Blizzard are making official posts about problems, they have no intention of fixing, just to weather the storm.

They can’t break all LFG addon systems without breaking many addons.

But they did limit it’s functionality, which is what they set out to do. In this layering case they have limited the layer swapping particularly for people who used it too frequently in too short a time,.

Still useful tho, can not be used in the same ways.

A level 60 posting about a layer addon??

No, they didn’t. It literally works the same way as in the stress test. It scans for messages, auto invites and spams in the selected channel. Nothing was removed from the addon between the time of the stress test and release, regardless of what Blizzard said.

Yeah? What about it?

Actually the problem WAS created by the players. Because if people simply chose not to abuse the layering system there would be no problem. Players like you with that mentality of “if it’s in the game, I’ll take advantage of it” are intensifying the problem and are the reason it became a problem in of its own. Get off your high horse and face reality. You may not be the one who created the problem originally, but you are certainly amplifying it. Blizzard did NOT create the problem. They created an opportunity for everyone to play the game they love and missed for so many years at the same time instead of spreading the population out over 150 servers. (Don’t make this about full pvp server queues. Just transfer, come on…) Players will always find a way to abuse any kind of new system that has not been thorougly tested. You as a player can on the other hand choose not to abuse it. This is YOUR choice. Don’t complain about people abusing layering if you do the exact same thing just because “everyone does it”. Choose to be that guy who just won’t instead.

Nope. The system was created by Blizzard and they are not punishing its abuse with bans. It’s their fault.

And fall behind those who do. No, thank you.

I’m not. I abuse it as much as I need to not waste my time.

I haven’t, I play on Earthshaker. What’s your point?

This is exactly what Blizzard should have done, because layering is just that garbage…

Exploit in my book.

STV feels like Vietnam right now. Can’t layer hop. I hope blue sees this so they can fix it.

That’s exactly how it’s supposed to be and it shouldn’t be “fixed”.

If a shopkeeper forgets to lock their shop and you take stuff from the shop it’s still considered theft and you will be punished.

Your logic is flawed.
