This drama is… definitely not something I expected to see in an advertisement thread of a gnome community discord. Once again, Argent Dawn has managed to surprise me.

There was a Gnome Discord and it derailed hard in the eyes of the mods of it. People made a new discord, which is the topic of this post.
So why is there a need to make a bloody turf war? Gnome RP and RP in general on this server is in a tight spot. Why is anyone wasting energy with crying, instead of making things?

The new Discord is doing reall well, so i’m not sure What makes you think Its in dire straits or going downhill.
You’re completely right, Bwim. It would be great to make things, develop on communities, and in general make the server a more lush place for roleplay.
Unfortunately, it’s impossible for me, and many of my friends, to do this when there are servers dedicated entirely towards witch-hunting PCU guilds, typically lead by Scorchbraid at the helm of the Azeroth at War community. Not to mention the weird power-play going on here, where Scorchbraid seems desperate for some level of control/mod privileges over every aspect of RP he’s a part of.
I was part of the Frozen Paw Clan a little over a year and a half ago. I remember being vehemently against the PCU, because I heard so many claims about how they ‘bullied people’ and were ‘toxic’.
The irony is, that once I joined the PCU, made friends there, and began to enjoy their rich community of story-driven roleplay, I realized that it was the other way around. Anti-PCU rpers hound us in private discords, they enter the private-messages of people unfamiliar with us to spread hatred before they even interact with us, and honestly? I’d basically call them bitter, cruel, bullies at this point.

It’s more focused as a generalised statement of RP communities in the context of gameplay and active participation, not the Discord groups.
Wait, how many communities are there? am I the only one not in a Community and just wings it around?

I mean. @Belvoire, I’m inclined to agree with you. Most people’s cases from what I’ve seen are: “This 3-4 people from the PCU made me feel bad so I must hate all of the community!!”
I honestly hate the “be them or against them” mentality. It’s so easy to just stop, take a leap back and realise that stuff is way calmer than you think.
While I’m not in the PCU myself, the PCU and anti PCU bullcrap could be easily fixed if people let go of their grudges and just focused on the now.
This is not aimed at anyone, but I feel like if the fire wasn’t kept lit nobody would get burned.
I see the PCU as individual guilds even though they’re closely connected with one another. It’s easy to approach them that way and so on.
It’s like me saying Azeroth at War which has a gazzilion amount of guilds is a huge thing, when it’s not that really impactful.

I can agree. Knowing I had been apart of afew Anti-PCU sentiment based guilds myself before stepping into that of the PCU, and gaining their side to all this virile dungheel that is basically spread like a plague.
Whether it’s the likes of accusations of toxicity, or general buggery like that doesn’t really portray the side accusing in any positive light themselves.
Hell when I had a character in an old guild, now basically dead, the Gearfist IBS. They themselves had quite abit of Anti-PCU sentiment themselves, from the mix of taking IC to OOC (In terms of the Troll cullings), which I myself didn’t mind since it made sense and still does. To the time of the Pre-Expac Lordaeron Campaign. Where they tried to say that the medals used by the Rotguard were referenced and inspired by German Wehrmacht medals, therefore somehow equating the people themselves to <insert bad ideological group here who committed genocide in the 1940s>. Which I didn’t understand when you look to the style of the Forsaken taking a gothic German feel.
So it’s like a grasp at straws over who’s done what and that totally one little thing defines an entire group. Because apparently guilt by association and guilty until proven innocent exist to those who spread such accusations rn.

Yeah. I was in voice chat with a friend a few days ago. Our thought process literally was: “PCU aren’t that bad, they just meme a lot, but they got such a bad rep due to past stuff”

Fearless used to kill my druid in Stormheim when the PvP event was on and I haven’t got past it tbh… I live in a state of perpetual, unfulfilled angst, unable to break the cycle of my own self-loathing. I kicked him off the ledge once but have never replicated the feat.

This is the grim reality. I’m pretty free with whom I RP with and continue to do so over several characters. But the reality is that I joined the PCU a few months ago (due to a lull in Nightborne RP, so I thought I’d try something new) and seemingly had disapproving whispers from individuals who I was on friendly terms with that eventually turned into a cold shoulder on an OOC level.
The reality is that whilst IC my character didn’t fit the military theme of the PCU (and that is fine, a tailor is no good if she only cares about making clothes). I left on good terms and have no trouble interacting with current members, but I certainly don’t feel comfortable RPing with individuals that seemingly shunned me on an OOC level because I sought RP elsewhere and I haven’t bothered with those individuals since.

I’d sincerely love the believe that there was some genuine reason behind making this new discord, but time and time again, vocal members of anti-PCU leanings have actively cast out a negative cloud against even the slightest association of any PCU activity within their communities.
what a weird thing to say, i associate with both “sides”. Yeah its pretty obvious that the so called “vocal anti-PCU” people are not the biggest fans of some of the people in the PCU and when someone associates with something you don’t like you more easily view them in a bad light. Yet not thrown that cloud of negativity against me… yet…
Loads of angry monkey noises from both sides IMO. Chimps everywhere… Mayto somehow got out of his locker too.
The discord is created by the Oz, splits happens all the time in communities because some people are looking for something more specifik or not feeling welcome, or not finding the current community to their liking.
I used to RP on garry’s mod, serious military RP. (These where dark times…)
The community we had there, it was nice and strong in the start. It was great, but well, fights, disagreements and stuff of the likes kept happening and so it continued to split more and more, and loads of people had the mentality of not wanting to take part in something because they dislike some people in the community. Was way easier to leave on a high horse instead of trying to cooperate and make things happen despite differences. And well… now its dead.
So as long as this discord does not mean excluding people and saying “we will not interact with these people at all or have anything to do with them at all” which does not seem to be the case or what have been said, do correct me if that is the case and i am being a chimp.
So far its them looking for something else/more specifik for a discord community. And promoting it (by punching down on the other discord, which is not very cool and should not have taken place to which they admit they made a mistake)

These people who you were on friendly terms with are idiots for being like that, not worth your time anymore obviously, its their loss to continue pushing people away. Though how does this relate of the new discord being made though? Are the gnomes in the PCU not allowed in?
