Discussion: Perfect Females

Look in real life I’m balding with a big nose, at least let me pretend I’m hot on the Internet ;_;

I’m a fem- wom- girl player and I didn’t think too much of it really. I understand it would be iffy if people were referred to as a male or female in real life dialogue or in an IC dialogue between elves or dwarves. Or in a book where all characters were human by default. But in the context of fantasy races not so much, especially when more alien, bestial or savage races are included.

My orc tends use male/female rather than woman/man IC. I wondered for a while which one to use as an orc (woman/man just feels pretty human) until I read Rise of the Horde in which the orc women were referred to as females.

To be completely honest I haven’t seen the hourglass description used much outside of AA. Maybe that’s because the only places I RP’ed in were Booty Bay or SMC.

I think during the Victorian being fat was considered beautiful from the perspective that being fat usually meant that the person was a noble and powerful.

Far earlier there was a far older time in history that men with beards or long hair were seen in the same light as it was only the nobles that would have access to proper bathing equipment or servants and that was very much impossible for the peasants to have access to.

Thus they couldn’t have long hair or beards as it would be impossible to maintain without it irritating them.

Its this why feminists don’t like victoria’s secret?

You speak of justice? Of cowardice? I will show you the justice of the meta, and the true meaning of RP.

Warlocks dont have meta anymore.

Let us be fair here, I used the terms ‘Female’ and ‘Male’ in the same post…Not sure what you are driving at there. I mean it is a term in common usage.

So A dragon or a Naga, two sentient and sapient races can be male or female, but others can’t? That’s a bit weird, are you sexing them that way because they do not look humanoid? I mean don’t get me wrong, I hate ‘Orcess’ or as I -have- seen, ‘Humaness’! Humaness! What the ever galloping heck is that?

Describing someone as male or female is neither incorrect use of language, nor out of setting. “Aye, it was a Human Male, in charge of them, burly fellow, eyepatch, two cutlasses” or “Nay, was a Gnome female, nasty glint in her eye, pretty sure she had two pistols behind her back ready to give me what for, if it went wrong”

Sorry, getting pedantic over ‘Male’ and ‘Female’ when they are entirely apposite words, just seems weird. Presenting ‘Man’ or ‘Woman’ is saying -exactly- the same thing, but arguably less lore correct in Azeroth. For humans, Forsaken perhaps, sure. But there is not one Species on Azeroth. Why on -Earth- would an Elf use human terms, why would an Orc, or a Tauren. If it is Tauren,I will use ‘Bull’ or ‘Cow’ without insult, if you are unsure, ‘Male’ or ‘Female’ would actually be the correct way to go, as ‘Man’ or ‘Woman’ can seem overly humancentric.

Just saying…This shying away from ‘Female/Male’ is a bit…weird…
