The only way to kill WoW is with something that entire guilds move to. It needs to be surprisingly cheap, and surprisingly good, and surprisingly similar but better.
Tbf, Wildstar had a really engaging combat system. It fell apart on everything else, imbalanced classes, imbalanced professions that left some people with nothing while others got rich quick in the first few weeks.
Unfortunately, they didn’t react and fix these things quickly enough, so a lot of players felt disheartened within a month, watching a small % zoom off ahead of them and have all the nice things.
If there is a lesson for WoW in that, it is that if players don’t have established social groups, they will walk away within weeks of their class/profession being rubbish. Patch often, patch fast, and it’s better to patch early and fix it again 3 days later, than wait a month and deliver it perfect.
“Do you you think Guild Wars will kill WoW?”
“Do you think ESO wil kill WoW?”
“Do you think Wildstar will kill Wow?”
“Do you think Black Dessert Online will kill WoW?”
“Do you think RIFT will kill WoW?”
Oh it did, lessons on what not to do.
They were so hell bent on being different than WoW that they let that philosophy kill their own game. I had high hopes for Wildstar and was massively let down.
Projection based PVP just doesn’t work in an MMO and their forced “we’re for Hardcore gamers” stance ruined it for everyone.
Eh no, the league playerbase is more mature now. the kids are playing fortnite or minecraft. it’s almost 12 years old, and wow is 17 years old. not far off
The only WoW killer is WoW itself, there has never and will never be a game to surpass WoW… Just the development throught the years alone make it impossible
And non of those game developer companies had established 100m+ active playerbase playing their games or appealing world as Runetera from League of Legends what has been build for years now.
Riot actualy can keep their games true to their genre and do not allianate genre core aspects for sake of acessability like Blizzard do with all of ther games.
Certainly has the potential with all the lore and character/world stories.
Plus Riot are very good imo at coming up with creative designs.
However an MMO is a large step to take and one that might prove a tad to difficult.
Either way I doubt it’ll kill WoW as it has a very strong fan base in some sections.
Not that I hope it does or anything as I do enjoy WoW a lot. Wouldn’t want it to go anywhere if I had the choice!
WoW will be dead long ago when Riot releases their MMO if the current WoW management isn’t stopped lol. Wouldn’t even be surprised a single bit if WoW falls behind in playernumbers compared to other current MMOs (it already did if you consider GTA Online as a MMO).
WoW will be doomed as soon as another MMO surpasses them because “being the biggest MMO out there” is it’s main selling point. The current gearing philosophie is beyond garbage and so incredible disrespectful to customers. People who don’t like arena or mythic raid progression would probably have more fun in another MMO already…
SL failed Becuase they think we need to play all 3 aspects of the game
I don’t understand logic behind that but whatever
Back in the day there was pvp vendor with pvp set and pvp stat so pvp players didn’t need to play PVE content they could but they were not forced
SL is like if you want gear you need to do daily pvp gaming…weekly m+ and weekly raiding after that open your 9 options and pick ONLY 1 item xD
whoever tought this will be good idea needs to be removed from blizzard
