Dragonflight Talent Previews - Hunter and Rogue

I am not trying to crap on your excitement. But just because you’re excited doesn’t make it good. Having improved mend pet as a talent seems ridicilous.

I have been constructive, LONG before you came on here. I have been posting talents to show the difference in power. I have explained the difference, that say, rogue, gets a heck of a ton of defensive abilities, offensive abilities.

I have given insight and not once have I demeaned any aspect of the game. Unlike you. I am not crapping on things before we get to try them.

But issues has been since the dawn of time, that every time a new expansion arrises, people are like “it’s subject to change”, “It’s early alpha”, “Relax it’s beta it can change”. And guess what. It doesn’t. Because they get no feedback besides white knights who seek promised lands.

But I also understand, that from a pve perspective, these things has less of a drastic impact on your gameplay, especially from the more social/casual side of things. But for people who wish to push m+ or wish to do mythic raiding or fancy pvp. These have detremental effect.

So I don’t believe I am being toxic in any way. Asking for your clarification seems valid and you’re the one in an offence due to that.

Annieday is schoolin’ some peeps.

Not trying to, that makes me seem like a bad person. :frowning:
I just like this game and has been my go to game for nearly two decades. I’ve decided this time, to really try and give my two cents for a better expansion. Atleast when it comes out, I’ll be looking back and feel I did what I could. I can’t say that for any previous expansions.

I’m with you 100%. You’re just telling people they should hear.

DF Rouge Talent Tree:
Pros:

  • So many possibilities! (At least on paper).
  • So cool it is not so easy build a Rogue with max Deeper Stratagem or max all things with Shadow Dance without sacrifising something else - that’s what a WoW talent tree should work. It’s not about building broken build, still it gives me feeling I build something OP (SL talents that can’t be mixed earlier, now they can!) - at least on paper
  • Gouge is back!!
  • A little comeback of the old abilities, or at least some old abilities vibe
  • I can focus on poisons, white dmg, bleeds, shadow dmg! (At least on paper)
  • Outlaw and Sin can Shadow Dance - nice!
  • So good few good abilities get trought from Legion / BfA / SL - I love healing while Slice and Dice or Finality! So cool I can test Sepsis, Rotten or Supercharge mechanic in many builds!
  • So cool you introduce new Ambush mechanic for Outlaw or Supercharge combo as a baseline! I hope it would open a new ways to focus on single / multitarget, sustain/burst dmg now on every spec.

Cons:

  • Ok, where is my Hemorrhage?
  • Can I finally take off the wall my 1h main hand weapon as Sub, or it is settled it will gain dust there forever?
  • Too bad Bonespike didn’t make it, even so many SL legendary abilities do. I suppose Rotten wins because it fits to burst dmg build vs. Bonespike?
  • Nothing revolutionary new. The tree is more like evolution than revolution in case of abilities. Deathmark is the one significant new ability, and still based on the old one.
  • In my opinion there should be even more freedom - I really want to Ambush ppl again playing Sub in place of Shadowstrike them, and why I still Dispatches as Outlaw even this is exactly the same ability as Eviscerate? It’s like Saber Slash - forcing ppl to be only one fantasy type. I really would be considered Outlaw, but I don’t like using pistols. I rather be choosing from more variety of ranged weapons Rogue could use in the past. Why I can’t transmog dagger to 1h weapon yet, if for some reason I still can’t use again 1h weapon as a main hand, f. ex. using Gloomblade. And so on, and so on. You get the point. It’s not even problem on numbers, it’s rather cosmetic things didn’t required new icons, and effects - all it’s here in the game data.

Many times I wrote “on paper”. The freedom of choice is heavy depend on numbers tuning - dmg, cldw, charges etc. Pls take care of good tuning of this. Ok, it always be some best 2-3 builds in every PvE/PvP situations. But a good tuning means, I will able to choose one or two abilities differently (becasuse I dont like that specific trait) and I wouldn’t land on the bottom of the ladder, way too far from another rouge with one and only good build.

But on summary, this is good, Blizz. This is a really good fresh start

How is that toxic or triggered?

Its good feedback and a good explaination.

This made me giggle though. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well. You can always say you didn’t get enough. But look at hunter, they got one and it’s the least used of them all. Sooo. That’s fun. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been playing around with the Wowhead talent calculators and the BM trees are fun enough; not perfect, but I can do some stuff that I think is interesting (that I can’t do right now).

I like the fact that I’ll be able to get a 2nd pet, dire beast, dire beast procs via dire command, stampede, crows AND Call of the Wild all together to make for a beast bonanza.

I do think the bottom of the BM talent tree is weak. The ‘ultimate talents’ just aren’t very interesting imo. They don’t have any ‘oomf’ (bloody frenzy sounds interesting, but will have to actually play with it to see how it works in practice).

As for the hunter tree; having chakrams in there as a bottom talent is very disappointing. This skill does not fit any hunter spec imo and is just not interesting in the slightest. I hope it will be replaced with something fitting and actually interesting in future builds.

I’m not disagreing. I just think every other current released classes tree (cake) taste a whole lot better.

So far, rogue makes me clap my hand silly till they go numb.

Play a rogue. Maybe you just like the class fantasy more, if you feel that way reading the talents (I’ve also really felt like changing my main to rogue reading those talents, but I’ll wait with my decision until all talent trees are out)

Oh. Hi again.

I’m not a quitter, and personally, I’d rather try my best to get as close to equal talent trees as I can, rather than just pick the fotm. It’s not my style, but thank you for offering the idea.

Nah, that would be incredibly boring. I hope they stick on their path to make classes unique again as they are showing. Atm classes have 0 personality and 0 class feeling in shadowlands with all the covenants, legendaries, etc. I don’t want rogue, and then hunter with same abilities, but different names for them :face_vomiting:

So I did what you asked.

Movement speed increase (basically an enchant)
Increased pet total health.
Natural mending a talent that has never really been used since it’s release in MoP.
Misdirection. I actually have to talent for this? Don’t think any hunter will ever have it anymore. I mean, threat isn’t exactly an issue to begin with.
Pet takes reduced dmg under the effect of misdirection (solo option only. Not useable in dungeon, raids or pvp).
Exhilaration now heals my pet. Wup wup!
Mend pet heals for more.
21% reduced cooldown on 3min cooldowns. Hmm…
I can fear beasts.
9% pet dmg increase. Top notch.
6% crit.

These are a small amount of what hunters has in store and I can find many more. I just won’t borther.

However, let’s take a look at rogue and DK, shall we?

Chains of ice now hits two targets!
I can sacrifice my ghoul to gain health!
I can remove roots!
I can build an absorb shield.
I can absorb spells.
I can make a bubble.
I can stun.
My auto attacks gives me absorb.
A whole minute reduced cd on my defensive!
Abomination limb AND Empowered rune weapon.

That isn’t what I said and you know that. You’ve just decided to have a grudge on me.

Being equal doesn’t mean being the same. You can still have diversity, yet equal strenght.

The current issue is. Other classes gets far more defensive AND offensive from their talent trees. While hunter gets utilities. Now, there is nothing wrong in utilities. The issue is just, they’re for the pet and the pet only… Not team wide, not raid wide. But for the damn pet.

We’re talking outlaws literally reduces the cooldown of every player in a whole raid.

Tbf, I feel like the rogue class designers were super enthusastic about this class and making a cool talent tree, so the hunter one just fades in comparison, but it’s not that bad, if you read through it

Genuinly, not sarcasticly. Point me to where it isn’t that bad? Genuinly. because I have another very aggressive guy on another threat literally demeaning me. And there is the option that I’ve just missed it.

But is it okay to say. If rogue is like “THIS high”. Then it doesn’t make it okay that hunter is “this low”. Because that means, hunters can’t compete in the pvp or pve scene of wow. That is what I am trying to prevent.

Both Rogue, Priest, DK, they get so many defensives, so many offensives, so many tools.

While hunter gets, basically things I would deem. (I can live without it, I promis you).

We all play for different reasons. The way I play the game means I don’t care about balance between classes. Just as long as what I play is fun to me and plays smooth, I’m going to be happy.

You want something different from this game. I’m not looking for balance because to me that’s not what an mmorpg is about. And with these trees (albeit with a bit of tweaking to be done) I’ll have fun I think. But trying it out for real is where the proof lies for me.

You just have to relax. They’re gonna make sure, that at least one hunter spec will be strong for all types of content, but it’s not very constructive to just catastrophize, because you saw some owner of a class discord cry and overly dramatize it. They will definitely receive the feedback they need, so it’s poinrless for you to spend your whole day discussing it in forums. Just say, what you’d rather have for fun gameplay. That’s better than just saying everything is bad, and comparing apples to oranges

I believe you pointed out the discord thing? I know I didn’t. I actually am not even part of the hunter discord, nor have I desire to be.

I do not appreciate that assumption though.

Well I’m not really confused by the description as much as I’m confused about why the description is so overcomplicated when it’s explaining something very simple.

But I’m kindda tired of talking about it now to be honest. :stuck_out_tongue:
