Well said, that’s the cause of 90% of WoW’s problems.
I disagree on that, there are plenty of things to do in the open world of DF and many times you will find a good amount of people doing these activities. DF loves world events, and exploration. Of course they could have done way more than just world events with the size their new zones have but as you said, that’s unfortunatelty on low priority right now.
They say Delves will somehow fix that but I doubt it as they will end up being alternative class agnostic dungeons which will be run by people just for loot. A couple of weeks into the new expansion I guarantee you will find threads in here by annoyed dungeon/raid spammers who will feel they are fOrCed to do Delves because of the loot.
Eh, I don’t think Classic is the way forward. Blizz just need to flesh out more other aspects of the game as well while somehow keeping the dungeon/raid/arena/BG spammers happy. This can be done but more money and resources are required.
I, for one, would love to see some RP-supporting features for everyone and not just the RP servers, this might make a few non-RPers trying out RPing on the side of their vertical progression.
I enjoy flight, I believe I like Dynamic flight even more than regular flight as far as long distances are concerned
The way I feel is that Ground travel still takes significantly longer. Where do you get your numbers about travel time on the ground in old zones vs while flying in the DF zones? Did you factor the obstacles, Daze dismounting, verticality etc?
Farming and WQs give enough reasons to engage with all of the zones…
If you are concerned about the connection to the zones, the main problem should ahd been fact that the endgame is mostly instanced.
Each to their, own, I enjoy the DF zones more than the SL ones.
Not this dead horse again. There is no World PvP in 2023. Only people preying on easy victims via gear or numerical advantage while nobody helps the victim.
World PvP died with the end of Vanilla.
You seem like you would enjoy that Season of Discovery or some classic server.
While I don’t think Dynamic Flying has anything to do with World PvP, I would love to comment on that statement because me and around 100+ other players last Sunday would PvP endelessly in Cobalt Assembly. also, 8 days ago the same happened near the center of the Emerald dream. Is World PvP unbalanced? Yes it is. Is it fun? OF COURSE IT IS!!
Last Sunday, I had so much fun in Cobalt Assembly that for 12 hours straight I forgot about sleeping, eating, drinking and even going at the toilet. Last time I felt like that while playing an MMO I was a teenager…
I am glad to hear that this happened.
Though I am not sure if this is the rule or an exception.
If this is happening to you often enough then it means that World PvP works fine with the DF zone design!
Maybe all Blizzard needed to do was to put a giant sandbox like Cobalt Assembly in a zone and let people have at it.
The Dragon Isles are simply beautiful. And their size is contributes to that. If dynamic flying made it so the rest of the expansions follow the same pattern I say it did more for the game than many other features.
I do feel more engagement with the zones of Dragon Isles above most other zones. The last time I had this much fun exploring was back in WoD’s Gorgrond.
So yeah, you are wrong. I cannot wait to explore the new zones in the upcoming expansions via dynamic flying.
I tried to respond in a civil manner but honestly, the notion that guys like you running their mouths with stupid crap like this gave Blizzard the excuse to add the annoying pathfinder achievement fills me with dread and quite frankly, it makes me sick.
I definitely enjoyed flying all over the dragon isles while they were new.
I am looking forward to freely use dragon flying in the old world and see the world from a PoV that I only dreamed of.
BFA as much as it is hated revitalized world PvP with the Warmode and faction invasions. I play on a server which was “PvE” with the old model and there was no World PvP going at all.
Then Shadowlands killed it again, with mid to terrible World PvP areas. The Maw might have been the exception but it happened rarely.
Now DF has cool world PvP areas again, with supply drops happening as well. With the weekly PvP quests the community is directed to mainly PvP in a specific zone each week.
All the aforementioned things revitalized World PvP. Of course, more can be done, and I really hope we will see more interesting World PvP ideas like the Cobalt Assembly in the future. But the main point I was trying to make is that World PvP is alive and well. I still fantasize of Open World “Warfronts” where PvE farming and PvP is happening endlessly every 2 hours.
Flying is not going any where. Even though DR is faster, im grateful to have TBC flying back. DR gives me motion sickness. I adore being able to sedately travel around.
YES! I love the old Alterac Valley, too bad people rush it 90% of the time these days just for quick honor and conquest points. Oh well, it is what it is…
You are speaking for nobody. Ok? I don’t know what delusion caused you to think you somehow got elected by an entire community, especially one I’m part of.
This character was created this expansion. I’ve had the Boodthristy title since 2018 so cut the crap.
I’m tired of guys like you thinking they know what’s best. You don’t even know what PVP is.
I have very fond memories of clashing with the other team while the Frost lord is pounding my guys and the Wyvern and gryphon riders are firebombing the combatants.
You’ve been spouting this bs on multiple posts, this is toilet paper nuthouse math. Just go and fly with a regular flying mount across 1 Waking Shores, and go fly across Ashenvale then tell me if it takes 8 times as long.
Already did. I timed it taking me 2m 27 seconds to fly from from one end of the Asure Span to the other. Then I timed how long it took to get from one end of Elwynn forest to the other on the PTR. It only took me 25ish seconds, but then you got to discount the 20% speed nerf.
I agree they could design a smaller map so it takes the same amount of minutes to reach points of interest (like raids and dungeons) as now with dragonriding, but I disagree that it adds more dynamic gameplay. WoW is neither a sandbox or a PvP game so the only interaction you could find while riding somewhere was getting dazed by a mob.
Here are some much more accurate measurements that I just took with the unlimited distance map pin addon, I forgot to make screenshots for added legitimacy but anyone can replicate this.
Azure Span standing behind Vekthros and setting the pin to Iskaara - 7850 yards
Orgrimmar front gate to Echo Isles - 2933 yards
Azshara Valormok flight master on the left to the edge of the map where the huge canon is pointing at on the right = 4223 yards
Ashenvale Warsong Lumber camp edge of the map to Zoram’gar Outpost on the left - 4986 yards
You can’t even fit 2 Azharas into Azure Span length-wise, which should hopefully be extremely evident by just playing the game. You could probably fit many Moonglades and Isles of Quel’Danases though.
I agree with you that Dynamic Flying should stay.
I disagree on the statement you just made though. Just see Cobalt Assembly and how successful it is… We would benefit a lot from more wPvP activities and sandbox-like spaces.
Ok I understand that some people (and you might be one of them) don’t want to touch PvP in WoW even with 2-foot stick. However, that is not the case for a big part of the community.
All I am asking is to respect the fact that people who enjoy Open World, sandbox-like, and wPvP activities in WoW actually exist.
