Think it’s sorta of a good idea, there is hardly any inflow of new people and the mid-level range from 25-55 is almost empty less you are paying to get boosts or are a ‘chosen’ cleave class. And that’s being on a full server, I can only imagine how it is on a 2000 or less realm.
Don’t count on it happening though, after all the zug zug and them right out disabling a dungeon finder add-on people made themselves it would be more than awkward if they crawled back.
edit: I think the only hope is when TBC comes and maybe they start making separate servers that have certain features enabled and people can choose where to play on.
I think this is the biggest problem, the time I’ve spent LF a tank or healer and got no response on /LFG channels and then I’ve looked through the /who function for tanks or healers and /w them and usually that way i get what I need quickly.
I dunno how it looks like on Mirage, but Zandalar Alliance side the LFG channel is essentially a spam of guild ads looking to fill a few openings in their raid team or filling their secondary team. If you see an actual person looking for dungeon, it’s for a split second only. I mean, you can scroll up, but it’s such an unwieldy way to look for members.
I care only very little, since I’ve had all my pre-BiS since before christmas, but it must be very sobering experience to be levelling or fresh 60 these days.
So you are using the existing social lookup tool and forming groups - and it works.
I think that proves the point that LFG is neither required nor desirable
I assume you add folk you find this way to your friends list- next time you contact them you can say ‘Hey - remember that run we had in Strat on Saturday - you up for another?’
Yea tbh its much easier than that as I play judgement and you just remember the good players names on there… Or we are now all in the same Guild, I recruit whoever I can that I’ve played in a dungeon or open world with that was guildless and sometimes people have even left their guild to join ours.
I dont know about your servers, but in Mograine Alliance side many instances like Stockades and Scarler Monastery and Bit also in Deadmines goes like Gold > real group.
I just witness couple days ago conversation where peoples was speaking is none making real groups to stockades anymore. And many said that 60 boosting better cos its 50 times faster thought u lost much exp cos booster scale it down.
So LFG could be good for those who want make instance group not buy that some1 boost U.
Ye, I kept hearing that, but then it seems to be more about selling boosts, reserving items, orbs and min-max’ing with the perfect cleave class compositions.
Overall the impact of not having LFG on the community is very good. Dungeonfinder makes people impatient, as they are not invested. They can just leave and requeue. But if you just spent 15-30 mins building a group, then another 10-20 travelling you are invested and will make an effort to get through rather than being a dick and breaking the team apart - as it will cost you your own time, too.
If you don’t like reserved items, make your own group. Simple. Building a group, for raids anyway, is a PITA. No one will do it for nothing. And for a dungeon it should be easy enough to make your own at peak hours, to avoid reserves.
And there’s good reasons for reserves, too. Granted some are rude - just don’t join them then.
There is an actual LFD system in classic but its disabled, I believe these are the meeting stones. Also as an alliance in westfall the inn keeper there seems to have that option.
Not sure how it work but I guess as follows, you list in and it automatically looks for people, it dont tp you to the dungeon and I believe you have to be in the zone for it to work.
I don’t actually mind it. If forces you to speak to people and socialise. I like the fact that nothing is easy.
I am a feral druid but I also end up healing sometimes when we cant find one. This would not happen in dungeon finder as I would need to be dps otherwise people will complain on why i am healing when I am not specced for it. Whereas currently people are more understanding and are open to me healing just so we have a group. I am sure there are others like me.
Overall if we had dungeon finder it wouldn’t really make me stop playing but I prefer it the way it is.
Even with hqving it only work as if a group listed themselves then you are just applying taking in mind you have to be in the zone of that dungeon and that listing give no tuss about you spec (people need to handle it) -similar to how I mentioned it up- I’m still like 80% not with it sonce the meeting stone would even need you to be around the meeting stone or the inn keeper which if applied you would see people qround it to work & then its about using social skills .
All in all mean nothing changed but still might be some holes that people can exploit I guess.
No thanks, I’ll be out by that time and back to real men MMO’s as this one is turning into a kiddies theme park. History repeating itself because of a bunch of losers like yourself that like easy convenient games. You morons still haven’t realised blizzard already provides such service on the noob friendly version, there’s no need to provide such services in Classic because as pointed out through out multiples threads this isn’t the game for you.
