I do not know about other tanks, but I have used either M+ absorb trinket, or dps trinkets because raid trinkets (minus exactly one in EP and now 2nd in new raid) have been abysmally bad. In EP the council one and now the maut ones are cool, but otherwise trinkets are not very good in raids and you do fine without any.
I use most cases 2 dps trinkets. Maybe that is monk privilege. But I wasn’t much different from Wotlk last raid HC to BoD-mythic in bfA, when I tanked as blood dk.
Then again I am also player, who finds most stressful job in any content is healing one, and tanking is most relaxing - in mythic raids, in m+, in anywhere. This is why I like tanking.
But oh my it is boring outside instances. It used to be fun with vengeance and PvP and what not, but now I cannot even do visions. 0 mask runs are irrelevant and to do mask runs I must be dps.
So tanks role is to ‘taunt-bot’ - is that what you are saying ? Why use tank-role at all when it is just to gather mobs and thats it. “Just” gathering mobs and taunting from 2 stacks has never been very exiting gameplay.
Yet there are situations where dps can snap agro from me. So it doesnt realy work like that.
2/3 at best isnt that huge and its mostly aoe, on ST tanks fall even lower
Ofc i dont, they implemented this system, they are low ilvl but they are boost for me in m+ so why not right?
Imo dps comparions tanks to dps, we are pretty fine rn imo, if we compare same skill/gear players, ofc when i go tank +5 where people play their chars first time im gona win meters.
And wanting tanks to have 1/4 of dmgers dps is just bad idea, it will make tank shrotage even bigger problem then, trust me
Not huge, but decent - there’s difference. personal challenge. I.e. tanks dps in raids matters none,but it did matter on progressing Ashvane and it made it fun. I had to do all raid mechanics, soak things and run around, tank and also dish out max dps my character was able to do. This made it more challenging and existing.
Having dps counter 0 is boring. And then after progression raids it would be good just to never raid again. With least some of dps, I can also see my character progression and have fun.
I do not want to do YOUR dps, I want to do decent dps.
I’d be a bear. I tried to get the two EP tank trinkets, and I have spent a bonus roll on every Maut HC kill since the raid came out. Okay, that is not many kills yet, but still. I also can’t get the normal one to drop. Heck, I even did LFR for it! In my bear gear I still have the one from BoD (the absorb shield one, Diamond-something).
I should probably try tanking low M+ keys that I vastly out-gear, so the Alchemist Stone and the Dice should work just fine.
Yeah I know that dps can sometimes snap threat from tanks, specially at the start, but is Twilight really helping with that tho? the proc rate is very unreliable and I dont see it proccing much when it’s actually needed,
then I’d say Echoing Void is way more reliable for threat purposes.
Ah i forgot that one. Diamond was good too. Having absorb trinkets for some of the harder bosses is good back up, but for example skittra Mythic I do with inkpod and that blaster from gnomeland. For wrathion I use absorb trinkets because of our particular tactics and using less healers overall.
On maut I use absorb because I tank adds and that run in and out of magic zones gives me independence and allows healers to ignore me a lot more. But dog, the football bosses etc, thats again where I run around with inkpod-blaster.
On HC I did not use any absorb trinkets though anywherer as damage intake wasn’t high enough (I was in full mythic EP gear, which explains, probably).
In M+ it depends on week and affixes if I use absorb trinkets and of healer class.
Dps bursts very high that is what is happening to you.
Burst damage having 100 dps as a tank won’t matter if the dps can burst 500 they will still snap threat of you.
I’m fine with tanks doing dps, but not like it is now, it is really close to actual dps with the right corruptions, and they sometimes do even more then dps, maybe they werent the best dps, but what did the tank had to do for it tho? nothing, it was free damage, damage that is like 40% of his total damage, that’s the problem I have with it.
And thats the problem, if dps can go burst and to 5x more than tank, how tank with 4x threat can hold? Thats why tanks have somehow decent dmg too so this dont happen so oft.
It saved some DPS few times when i get proc on pull and my threat skyrocket so high i can go afk for rest of pull.
But yea its so unreliable, but so was EV, a lot of time i pulled, and get to like 20+stacks till it finaly colapsed and started doing dame… 20+ global cooldowns my threat is either stable or my dps dead, so its pretty much same TD or EV.
But overaly, EV is more reliable, just pretty much useles post nerf dps wise
60-70 corruption is kinda acceptable. You kinda have enough resist to get both on rank 3 without getting over 70. Unfortunately , it worked way more then a day and tw is still working.
Too me it’s a huge problem, when you rather take the average tank over the good tank, just cuz the average tank has the right corruptions and will be way more beneficial to ur party because of that, that goes for dps as well.
Some corruptions are just way to strong, but double as strong for tanks,

I am perfectly fine, so we understand eachother, doing i.e. half of good dpsrs damage. If you do 60k, 30k is fine for me. If you do 70, 35k is ok for me. And if you are single target oriented, it is fair if I’d do more aoe in occasion.
I just want my tank dps be useful and scaling with my gear. I want to be relevant on equal ilevel and gear. And I find it is also ok if I out dps dpsrs with lesser gear.
However i hate corruption system in general, where a warrior with best aoe corruptions just challenged my Unholy dk in m15. A tank shouldn’t challenge a UH dk aoe with 3*festermight+chain combos. No. This shouldn’t happen. Uh dk is good on aoe - especially on larger pulls and when a devastation runs around and rockets tank to top, yes I have a problem.
But this is not tank players fault. Thats Blizzards math problem. But also when I see player has corruptions and that is why they out dps me, i am ok too. Since it is not MY l2p issue then.

It would have been better for Blizzard to work on the tank mechanic in MoP.
If a tank’s dmg would increase up to 50% (or maybe even more) depending on how much dps they take compared to their max health it would help them dealing better dmg without negletcting their defence, or the need of extra systems like special corruption effects.
75+65(?) =140- 52(?) thats put you above 60coruption for sure dude, do the math, also EV was nerfed first week, where we had like 20coruption resist at best? Maybe 30? So again not even close man.
U mean twilight devaste? No way its working, i have r3 for some time, i did arenas with it (as guardian) world pvp, BGs, doesnt work realy, its doing like 20% of what its doing in pve, at best.
Yeah I’m more then fine with tanks doing atleast half the dps a dps does, but atm with the right corruptions they are rivaling dps, and it’s cuz of a proc based trait that makes it so, doing around 40% of his damage, I’m not fine with that.
