*Edited by moderator* is going on with anniversary?

You realize that there is accounts sitting on stacks of Blue Sapphires, Arcane Crystals, and Black Lotuses that are botted and map hacked to farm. They then have toons that sit on t he AH and immediatly buy any that are below a certain price - botted to. So they can lock the price. The reason Blue Sapphires and Lotuses are retaining value is because botters are forcing it through getting all the nodes and scalping the AH. It is a win for blizzard because of sub count but players suffer.

The answer is easy, uncomfortable but easy.

Make gold account bound.

Yeah AH blah blah, that can be solved in other ways.

Making gold account bound puts a big obstacle in the way of gold selling.

Also perma ban gold buyers.

You can’t defeat the bots head on, you need to remove the demand.

Again once… It’s not that Blizzard CAN’T handle Bots, it’s that it DOESN’T WANT to handle Bots.
For Blizzard, Bots are a significant part of its revenue on Classic, it covers the gold demand of the “Dads” and the lazy players who have enough money to burn hundreds of euros buying gold on the black markets and the degenerate min-maxers take advantage of all this to ride the wave by recovering some of the gold from the gold buyers (they know what to farm and sell to the AH, Boost gold buyers, gdkps, etc etc)

In short, all this forms a toxic inbred community that ruins the WoW Classic experience for normal players and in the end, do not wonder why each time, a significant share of players leave the ship after a few weeks/month following the launch of new Classic servers. Blizzard will never do anything about this as long as the profit/risk balance is positive for them.
So for normal players, we must accept this fact, accept to have difficulty swimming in this lake of toxicity, hope to find benevolent travel companions, abandon the idea of a healthy economy, ignore this mercantile atmosphere that has nothing to do with 2005 Vanilla and not hope to be able to pvp under normal conditions.

Blizzard has long since died, its decline dating back to 2008 since the merger created Activision Blizzard.

The only thing you should be able to gain by buying gold is a permanent ban on your battle.net-account.

Thanks for this post!

But Lightsparks is right: Making Gold account bound would solve some of the problems.

It would also kill the auction house. Though personally I wouldn’t care. I’m not using it anyway (by principle and as part of my playstyle) and wouldn’t miss it.

I agree that there might be a correlation but I’m not sure it’s that critical on the list.

For example, my list…

  • Regardless of how far I got (not much), I played 2-3 months and that’s fine.
  • I had an itch, got a scratch, moving on.
  • Classic is pretty okay until 20-30 but then it gets clumsy.
  • Original economy is borderline slavery. My inability to sell anything on AH doesn’t help but I’m also not buying so I’m neutral.

Possibly resolved issues:

  • Once in the initial rush is over, group content dies off and it’s a very long solo slog.

New issues:

  • Despite the initial rush being over, questing is a hassle. Hopefully I can 1-60 during BC and 1-70 during WLK with one char each.

Some of the above deterrents can be resolved by RMT. One way or another you buy someone’s time - to farm gold for you, to level up for you, to show you around in dungeons.

It’s a bit awkward that Classic requires so much gold to buy skills and mounts with very limited income, whereas during BC the prices are lower and the income is higher (supply rich alts with low level loot). Repeat for WLK. Reputations are practically limited to Friendly in Classic while you can get Ambassador by 50 in WLK (and BC).

It’s #nochanges territory but reviewing some of these could definitely … reduce the need for RMT, hence will be opposed by not only true purists but also opportunists.

Wrong. You have no idea about anything economy related. It is really so wrong on a very basic level. You would be ashamend of your post if you would have had some basic education

“You are completely wrong, you are talking nonsense, it is obvious and everyone knows it”

Ok, so now if it’s so obvious his mistake, you will have no trouble explaining where and why, we are waiting for your response on the subject and seeing how you are so sure of yourself, we know in advance that it will be very easy, otherwise you wouldn’t have made a post like this, eh? :dracthyr_tea:
