lets face it. the game is broken right now. many things dont make any sense anymore.
So very much my feelings too. It all started with WoD when they absolutely trashed professions and it’s never quite recovered. Such a shame as there were a great many players whose endgame WAS profession building, and now they are almost useless.
I remember reading somewhere that one of the devs had said that they obliterated all the “addons” such as belt buckles, gemming and leg/shoulder enchants and reforge because they said that raiders got a good boss drop and couldn’t immediately wear the new item because they had to hearth home and obtain all the enhancements. As a personal opinion, I LOVED getting the new gear and it was with great excitement I would get back to the bank or my souped up profession alts to craft said items and watch my power grow right before my eyes.
(I won’t start on a rant on how horrible the Azerite system is as it’s a different subject :P)
Grainne - as usual, your post could be from my own mouth, it’s exactly everything that is wrong with a big aspect of the game for a number of players.
They really said that?
Player: Have you thought about bringing back professions from previous expansions and having them as they were then?
Blizz: No. And by the way, you don’t want that either. You think you do but you don’t.
Remember when you had to like go back to cities and spam “need an enchanter, need an enchanter, need an enchanter” during the burning crusade days? You don’t remember that, because now you just push a button in the raid and it’s enhanced for you.
You don’t want to raid?
You think you don’t, but you do.
Yup they totally did say that.
Over the years that has been the go-to answer for pretty much everything that happened.
Removal of actual PvP Gear, PvP Gear being at least adequate in PvE, nerfing the Reps in a.o.t. MoP and Cata (original Vanilla ones), nerfing Quests, chucking in enchantable Heirlooms and kicking out Twinks, lowering the WSG GY for several years on end (turning it into a total charnelhouse in PuG BG’s), postponing PvP Gear in Cata and MoP, and so forth and so on, it has always been the same type of reasoning to gut any and all other aspects of the game.
Which is incedentally why people are a tad anxious about Classic being infested with the same kind of attitudes and ‘conveniences’ as it will mean the game will end up the same - and all the effort, both in the game and IN GETTING IT IN THE FIRST PLACE , would be for naught.
‘Content Locusts’ should never have been the ones a virtual world game/MMORPG primarily catered to, esp. when it is based on a PvP IP and called ‘World of War Craft’, not ‘Instance of Raid Night’.
Hopefully the way Classic unfolds will make the Devs repent, though I am still sceptical (the way they handled the severe demand for PvP Realms so far is a tad iffy IMO)
The only usefull crafted piece of gear this patch was the OP inscription trinket and maybe the alchemy 410 with socket. But all the rest? Don’t bother, it’s as simple as that. Heck to even craft 410 gear you need 75 pearls, if you just wait for BoA token that gets an socket it just costs you 45 pearls to get it 410. The crafted slot is wrist, hands, belt or boots as dps? Welp it was dead and absolute gear the moment it was released with 8.2!
Now you say “But the 410 ring with a socket?”, 160k to buy the gems just to craft it once, hoping for good stats… Mechagon has 420 rings for you and doesn’t drain your gold!
You know that crafted gear is 440 with a socket right?
You know that crafting for whom doesn’t raid with said char is dead, right? Oh right always have to spell it out:
- 370 crafted < 385 BOA tokens
- 410 crafted with sockets < Upgrade tokens to 410, they are stronger.
The only worthwhile one is the ring and it just cost way too much gems to even start it. Imagine wasting 160k then getting the worst stat or stats for it.
Why do you expect raid level crafted gear if you don’t raid? Makes no sense.
Professions and crafting should be completely separate apart from top, top end gear. Professions used to be the non-raider’s way to gear, a whole different project. I actually am looking forward to Classic for professions again…
There is pretty muh nothing left of the professions. They are nothing compared to what they used to be.
Same here, tried to get some on max lvl but totally given up on completionism and the profs of other chars, well prolly during a next xpack i guess
do you think so? i’m in such a dire need of mats that only a handful of gears i made reached the AH, all the rest went into the scrapper because of the stupid amount of Expulsom i need, i’m even doing WQ’s on 2 chars to get as much gear as i can get to throw them in the scrapper, nice having profs, such a waste of time i could have used for having FUN in this game.
When in Classic, meet up with the quartermaster of the Zandalari Tribe in STV, he would like to have a word with you
I’m not saying raiders didn’t do it either just that a lot of us used it to get to below raid tier for best open world effect.
In Classic STV, everybody wants to have a word with you!
And uh… i can’t make plate gear with my tailoring… um… yeah im gonna go with that too…
Actually you make good point now, most people will have tailoring on cloth char, BS on a plate etc. but what about those who don’t? Dead proffession because all crafts beyond 370 are BoP.
Same and when I look at the AH, selling what you crafted just seems like a waste. For the amount of time gathering etc the mats, there seems to be a low return in sale value. Bags sell dirt cheap, the alchemy crafts sell dirt cheap.
I only take a profession now purely to speed the leveling up process of my alts. Usually mining and herbing as that can add 1k to 4K exp per herb/mine.
Blizzard doesn’t know how to handle professions, and they haven’t for at least 3 expansions.
this was meant for heroic and mythic raiders. Not casual players.
You’ll get this in 2~3 weeks if you’re a hardcore player.
A lot longer if you’re a casual.
I’ve been doing heroic 3 first bosses for about 5~6 weeks. And i’ll be done with this next week. You can’t expect mythic level gear to be given to anyone in week one or two by crafting.
if you have problems with professions, then that’s valid. But your argument of it being too long or too hard isn’t.
