Finally - Brave Community Council wants warforging back!

Here is the thread in question:

[Warforging - A Return - Community / WoW Community Council - World of Warcraft Forums

Finally a good suggestion by the council. By the way, even as a EU member, you can login and like the suggestion to bring back warforging!! Please show your support!!

We currently have the worst and most dull gearing system in the history of WoW. You do content like heroic raids and M+, and you know that during the week, whilst you do it, there is a ZERO chance of getting any meaningful loot in the form of upgrades. The only way to get loot is through the weekly hell box.

Bring back warforging, nay, bring back Titanforging and save WoW gearing

I for one support the warforge return, but to cap maximum +15 or +20 i lvl up at max.

No need mythic key lvl 2 items to be mythic raid i lvl again.

Oh god no. Please no.

WF/TF is good concept, however it was bit too “wild”. In my opinion it should be :

WF +5 high(ish) chance to proc
TF +10 low(ish) chance to proc

Aka, impossible to get loot from higher difficulty, but small reward for replaying exists.

what the heck is that council?!

Problem with WF is that people saw it as a requirement and not a reward. All the MLG players were “fEeLiNg FoRcEd” to run LFR because it might proc upgraded gear, while for the rest of the playerbase it was just “oh cool” moment.

Finding the right balance is tricky

+10 is too low in my opinion, but +15 would be a good middle ground.

Limit the procrate to a point where people who do normal/heroic or mythic raids wont forced to do lfr for example.

It was a terrible system.

It’s another reason why I think the community council is a bit of a joke. People remember one half of the equation and then forget the downsides.

This is exactly what that thread has done.

And also, I like a long description as much as anyone else but holy crap, that thread is just wordy and saying sod all. Learn to write please cc members.

Firstly, WoW being an MMORPG should not be designed around sweaty Scandinavian gamers who listen to crappy European Techno all day. WoW has always been most successful when designed around the casual playerbase.

Secondly, there were absurd cases like the Arcanoforge crystal in Legion, but generally the chance of LFR titanforging into something high is so ridiculously low that it would never actually be worth it to run LFR as compared to just farming M+ and hoping for TF, socket and Tert procs. Also LFR unlocks so late in the tier for most bosses that I also think it would be a non-issue?

People who do normal/ HC arent forced to do anything, let alone LFR.

Vault ilvl getting up to 252 has a much higher effect on them than warforging ever would

I don’t think Warforging/Titanforging was a great system, however it was significantly better than Corruption, and it was still better than the current situation. M+ was only truly alive during Legion. I think the chance of getting actual good loot each run was certainly a motivator; I know it was for me.

Having full max ilvl gear a few weeks into the patch and then just waiting for the weekly box to give the same ilvl with better stats does not motivate me to do content past whatever is required to unlock that weekly box. On the flip side, making reaching ‘bis gear’ a nearly impossible goal like it was back then is, while better, also not a good system.

I’d rather not have warforging back, just make gear drop at higher rates instead. A higher drop rate would also encourage the usage of alts assuming there aren’t another 7 systems linked to power in the next expansion.

The time spent adding and then abandoning systems could be better used giving extra types of world/dungeon/raid/PvP content that will continue with following expansions

titanforging was removed to boost m15/mythic raid sales.
as long as wow devs supports wowtoken/pay2winboost industry it wont come back

Probably one of the worst features in the game. The fact that you can do the highest end of content and still be 10 ilvls behind BiS gear is ridiculous. At most items should be able to warforge to normal level gear, after that please no.

But what about being able to outgear content?

The thing is everyone is ignoring a VERY important role played by both warforging / titanforging as well as corruptions when it comes to being able to outgear content, which keeps content like mythic raids relevant for longer, as well as making heroic raiding more accessible for very casual puggers.

At the moment we simply have no system that easily allows, for example pugs and casuals to do heroic Sylvanus, the result is people simply don´t bother.

Whereas in BFA we had people running stuff like mythic Jaina for mount because corruptions made them so OP, as well as having the heroic raid tier being pugged easily as the the last patch progressed.

I do agree COMPLETELY with increased drops in raids and m+ to encourage alts though. Alts have been KILLED by having gear being so rare, having alt gearing basically come almost exclusively from the max m+ weekly chest feels awful. In BFA and Legion I would run the weekly max m+ on 3-4 characters every week, in the entire Shadowlands I did max one character every week and even then I hardly bothered with that one char because I hated the system so much.

It´s funny all the mythic raiders constantly talk about how they don´t actually care about gear but only the content, then suddenly it becomes important for them to have BiS gear? In fact the truth is that most raiders actually benefited largely from the warforge / Titanforge system, because the extra powerlevel they would get from WF / TF drops would enable them to reclear raids much faster than was intended. Reclearing Mythic Sylv with the current gearing / power system in WoW is just torture.

titanforging to normal raid gear=mythic+6 loot. might call it clownforging.

i want WF and TF back. i dont do raiding because its so unbelievably boring i couldnt do more than 1 boss so M+ was a fun alternative to that borefest. and the higher keys are more challenging than mythic raiding so i think its fair.

I’ve always cared about gearing, and warforge ruins gearing for me. I have no motivation or patience to farm RNG drops. It doesn’t feel good when you get one either. At least without warforge I have a clear end-goal in mind, BiS gear to strive for. With warforge I’ll never have that, and if I stop clearing raids for a month, I’m behind in gear again. And while infinite content may sound good, it usually just makes the game feel never ending and pointless.

Nah it sucked. It’s good it’s gone.

Blizzard has literally been the KING of RnG since forever, so I don´t understand this point when people make it. Hell even their RTS game WC3 had RNG drops in it!! Complaining about RnG in a BLizzard game is like complaining about gambling at a casino.

Diablo 2? Massive RnG fest

WoW Classic / The original WoW? Massive RnG fest, legendary extremely rare drops. Very few class tier drops on each boss, making collecting BiS of the current relevant tier almost impossible. To add to this epic BoE drops during leveling that would give you a massive advantage as something like Warrior / rogue, or to sell on the AH to buy items.

BC - Once again massive RnG fest with ultra rare loot and so on, most people never got their BiS drops because WTLK dropped before they could complete their characters.

Lastly with the constant patches in WoW, and the entire play the patch approach to the game, you hardly get to enjoy having your BiS gear at all. The only reason people get to enjoy their BiS gear now is because BLizzard has been so incompetent they have not been able to put out content in time so raid tiers have lasted so much longer than intended.

WoW is supposed to be a Sisyphean game, you never actually complete / win the game. Something new keeps coming and the eternal struggle to stay relevant continues.

I also think designing the game so mythic raiders can feel happy / content, when they make up less than 5 % of the playerbase is extremely unhealthy for the longevity of the playerbase, but I guess BLizz noticed given how numbers have dropped off massively.
