Diablo 2 and WoW are power fantasy games, the ENTIRE game is about getting stronger characters and stronger gears.
Imagine if they removed gear from D2 or from retail WoW even, and had everyone have templates that never changed, just made the entire game one big timewalking template.
Do you think a single person would play the game? Even players like Preacher who act all high and mighty about how they don´t care about gear, but about challenges would straight up just stop the game.
The game has always been about getting better gear, there are those players that admit that this is important to them, and those that are in denial about the fact.
You don´t understand, the weekly M15 for gearing FEELS awful. I don´t care how stupid easy it is to do a +15 this patch (probably never been easier since 8.3 with corruptions).
Spamming +15´s just to wait each week for the chance of an upgrade is an awful and predatory game system, just let people spam the dungeons for upgrades on alts / mains if that is what they want. With the current system of no WF / TF and just lackluster valor tokens that is not possible like it was in Legion and BFA (with superior gear systems).
You don’t read anything do you? And if you do, do you even understand it?
The person in question say they want to run LFR sometimes. But they don’t want to because they only want gear from LFR which is useless to them right now.
I am not disputing that gear is important in WoW because it is. But the fact remains you can still do stuff in this game because you think it’s fun and not because of gear. I sometimes run +5 or +10 keys to help friends and just random people, do I need it on 2.4k score with 253 ivl? Hell no, but sometimes doing low keys can be kinda fun even if there is no reward.
Now feel free to say “Oh I’m sorry I can’t read properly”. It’s okay, I forgive you.
The difference being that the game doesn´t try to ´´force you´´ to play EVERY week, and keep you logged in.
If you have one week of free time you can spam play the game for an entire weekend / week.
Getting upgrades through the vault is intentionally created with the intent of having you return to the game every week like a rat, forming habbits and keeping you subbed for longer.
Yes it does, you are literally blind if you can’t see it.
Getting upgrades through TF is intentionally created with the intent of having you feel the need of coming back to complete even useless difficulties just to increase the odds of finding the item you need and making you stay subbed for longer.
To me, Titanforging was a nice little perk when you ran a dungeon and got a bonus upgrade on any loot that you got.
I’m not the sort of player who will farm an instance in hope for an upgrade. Although having said that, I would probably target my runs for them.
At the moment, all my gear is 246ilvl or above. I run between 4 & 10 M+ a week for my 252 ilvl item from the vault (which isn’t always an item I want). I already only run the same 2 or 3 dungeons because they are either easy, quick, or my favourite. I might as well just be targeting the upgrade I want.
Currently it feels unrewarding, 4-10 runs a week is a lot for just 1 item. I feel the most reward comes from trading in the Valor for Heavy Callous hide to sell on AH.
That’s not the point.
Many people don’t like M+.
Many people don’t like raiding.
Many people don’t like PvP.
Different taste in content is fine. That doesn’t mean ‘that they have access to it’, because they they don’t like doing that content.
Stuff should be available everywhere. Let players themselves decide how they want to play this game.
But again; for all the ‘haters’ of TF… Just bring back this wonderful system and have it be locked to world content only. You get a reward from a WQ and it procs to mythic raid ilvl? Awesome. But as soon as you step into instanced content with that, it’ll revert back to its original normal ilvl.
The fact that this game is missing a solo path is a total different problem that you can’t really solve with TF imo, that would be just a bad way of patching it up.
And? Patching it up is fine for now.
Until world content finally gets its deserved spot as the 4th endgame pillar, I’ll take ‘patching up’ over ‘nothing’.
See, back in the days of Old the gear progression was very much - Level Up - Normal Dungeons - Heroics (from TBC onwards)/Casual PVP to fill slots - Raiding. Eventually they started putting some catch up gear into the mix.
Now you have 3 gear progression routes PVP, M+, and Raiding. But World Content will gear you up nicely in preparation for taking on one of those End-game routes. However, the max level gear you get from World Content is good enough to do the World Content, whilst making those who gear further by doing End-game feel a little more more powerful because of their stronger gear.
So unless they start making World content as challenging as any of the other end-game routes (which I am totally down for if they can come up with something), then I think the World Content ilvl rewards are fine the way they are.
Consider that those bosses will be subject to gearing up. I think it would be perfectly fair for a boss that takes 50/100 pull to give you 252 piece of gear.
