Go Ban Hammer!!! Gooo!!!
Perma ban characters of whoever did multi boss kills even ince using layer hopping in an instance. There is no way that they didn’t know what they were doing.
Would someone mind explaining what the exploit is? This Blizzard post nor any replies or other threads explain it.
I’m a bit confused. What do dungeons have to do with layering?
I would LOVE to see Asmongold get banned - Can you imagine the delicious fan boy tears streaming down their quivering chins!
It is so sad that Blizzard was all but deaf to all the warning about how layering would be abused. Reality was even worse than the warnings as it was difficult to believe that layering would be this awful. It is bad as a system in principle and the implementation is ten times worse.
Bans are good of course but it won’t magically repair all the damage that has already been done. All the resources from this have been spread around and bans won’t take them back.
They can do Character Roll backs
Recent Tips Out youtube video explains this exploit and scale of it .
I hope that this time around actual punitive action will be taken, publicly, as should have been the case with the Raid XP exploit, hiring people to remain logged in, and layering abuse in general.
While some may consider Classic a ‘joke version not to be taken seriously’ (including it seems too many elements at Blizzard) to others it represented A New Hope.
By letting in the usual exploitative crew of Streamers and ‘high-end Raid Guilds’ in the Beta (who time and time again only use Beta’s to find exploitative holes) instead of regular players who weren’t subscribed to Current WoW partially because you never seem to take action against the Method types, you deprived the game of proper testing.
Will you finally take proper action against e.g. Streamers who make money on pirated use of your IP and exploit the hell out of a game they proposed to love?
Let’s be real here, one of the reasons this kind of crap happens is that over the years ‘Exploit early, exploit often’ has seemingly become the motto as high-profile cheaters who time and again cheat, be it by exploiting, illegal Account sharing and what not, never get the permaban they deserve for poisoning the game and its playerbase.
If you don’t act decisively against these high-profile cheats now, Classic will be a failure, customers will be severely disappointed, and Blizzard will be the laughing stock of the industry for being apparently unable to re-launch a 15-year old game (which may sooner or later sour the stocks, esp. as it is just a matter of time till e.g. BBC Cult gets a wind of this).
Yes I am angry, and yes I am aware that it may affect my critisism, but I didn’t advocate and wait for this (always respected your IP so never played pserver) literally for years to have it ruined by the sadly usual gang of craphats and incompetence from Blizz.
Exploitation deserves punishment.
In my opinion…
1 instance layer exploit = 1 week ban
So, if you did this 10 times in one night. 10 week ban. gtfo exploiters.
Reset their items, remove their gold, delete their characters.
Exploiters know EXACTLY what they are doing. I hope you punish them appropriately, because I don’t want to be a part of a game that rewards exploitation by any measure. I hope you do something about the people who abused the instance raid exp bug too while you’re at it.
Fresh server would be nice id play there
This is absue of the worst kind. I hope Blizzard do the following actions.
- Delete all charachters who got a benefit.
- Permanently ban them from ever playing classic again. Only BFA for the rest of their lives.
- Delete all gold and mats that got sent to other players.
- If players who recived gold or mats from these players, and used the benefits not in good faith, they should get their character deleted.
- All accounts that took part in the exploit should get the achvievment «CHEATER» attached to their account. And all (new and old) charachers should have this achivevment visable over their charachter in game for all time.
Only letting them play bfa for the rest of their lives is abit too much of a punishment i think…
And who will judge that? You? Trump? My cat?
Blizz should delete the characters that abused this exploit.
and delete all the items that were acquired by this method.
Agree.
It would be cool to see FaiLizzard to start working on the game that was already carefully designed.
As soon as possible, we will identify those who knowingly abused this bug in exploitative manner. We will then take appropriate punitive measures.
I hope it’s true …
This feature make the servers economy broken for some months and digs a huge gap between normal player and exploiter.
Character should be deleted, nothing else.
This latest exploit has exploit has completely killed the game for me.
Few people remember but last time an exploit of this magnitude came out back in vanilla, Blizzard went as far as doing a full server roll-back.
I doubt they would do the dame this time, especially since the abuse goes back to release so they’d effectively need to re-launch Classic, but fresh layering free realms before P2 is the only thing that would make me consider sticking around.
Crazy when you consider layers were supposed to only be for the starter zones. Maybe 1-10 and 10-20 zones… lol.
for months we’ve been telling you that layering was terrible because it would exploit the game’s resources.
now you’re developing a fix for the issue and banning people exploiting the game’s resources.
ok you smart, Blizzard
The damage is already done, the gold, BOEs, high end mats and recipes are already out there… That the game allowed a meaningful economy in Classic is one of the reasons I gave WoW a chance after so many years. It’s all turning into a farce.
