That’s what I’m thinking too. Blizz might be able to hand out some bans to people who did it, but the sold patterns, the gold exchanged etc. has entered the economy and gone through so many hands now. It’s no longer traceable or fixable.
This is seriously bad.

So yea… this explains why i see so many people on their 100% mounts… and people with half full T1 set…
There was no way in hell people could have gotten those things 2 weeks after the classic release.
I hope Blizzard show some balls & bans their publicity / marketing- streamers.
Asmon, Esfand, … they all knew EXACTLY what they were doing!

Yhea, may be it will make an example for the guys who want to rush vanilla using all available exploits …

What does it exactly mean? Describe pls how did they complete instance encounter repeatedly… how is it possible?
They pretty much reset the instance while they are still in the Room with the Final Boss, to kill it over and over using layering.
Since this is not a proper Instance Reset, it also avoids the 5 instance reset / hour.
I hope Blizzard show some balls & bans their publicity / marketing- streamers.

Didn’t Esfand ask a GM before starting the 2nd run?
If they have exploited this off screen, they should get bans, but I don’t think they should be banned for one instance that was cleared with a GM.

Imagine all the warlocks, mages and hunters that exploited this to farm thousands of more gold in maraudon, what are they gonna get? A 3-day slap on the wrist? So they can log back in 3 days to 15k+ gold? This is so stupid.

i don’t think asmogold exploited this at all? and esfand didn’t even know what caused it at the time.
after the bug became public, they were like, oh maybe that’s what happened to us. i don’t really think accidental exploit like this deserves a ban. the bug is so easy to produce i imagine a fair number of people made this mistake without ever realizing what the bug was.

Pretty much.
And people said over and over, talked about the bugs, how their version feels weird and toned down, the layering garbage; They didnt move a finger.
Community, realms, and feels has been thorned. I hope they can fix and move fast now, because they gonna lose not only classic player and us, but it will have an impact on how everyone see them in the market.
This is terrible…

And here was me believing all those lvl 60’s maxed out in BIS gear, riding epic mounts, with mega BOE sales on AH 2 weeks after launch had achieved it all through sweat and tears while playing the game fairly.

I think they can see by number of layers swapped distinguising the non abusers from the abusers. That and mats acquired. Simple things like Addon used, parties joined. There will be a huge gap in numbers between regular players and exploiters. I CANNOT wait to see what happens - this sh!t is better than game of thrones. I would say this is just as bad as botting.

By now a lot of the proceeds from the exploiting is out in circulation among the general populace. The inflation changes the game for everyone, some things were intended by design to be rare and hard to obtain. You may ban the exploiters, although I’m skeptical Blizzard will even do that to meaningful extent, but there’s nothing you can do about the BOEs/patterns/high end resources that made their way in the hands of legitimate players.

Think about it like this. When an iphone explodes - the customer isn’t the one who pays the price. It’s apple right? If you bought a stack of black lotus. The person who got that through exploitative means will pay the price, not the end user. The end user doesn’t have control of supply.
Idd, for me its more about making servers healthy than banning ppl. You cant fix it by removing something in current state of the game, only rollback could fix it.

Does anyone know if this has been a general problem on all servers, or if it “just” some specific servers with guilds that have been cheating?
My highest character is lvl 35 with less than 40 gold to her name. Anyone doing better than me is totally fine, unless they cheated. …Cheaters are Dung.

Aye I’m with you on that Lvl 28 with next to no G
It wont fix everything, but removing the cause of the problem certainly helps. I say they should ban away like there is no tomorrow.

That’s the thing, though, you shouldn’t have had access to that stack of black lotus.

Too little too late in that respect, but it will only be a select few who got that far in, most people are like mid 30-40 now…
The issue is more nuanced than that. The extra 200g per exploiter that entered the economy through vendoring/drops made your legitimately obtained 40g worth a lot less.
